THANK-YOU! There isn't much on the tube about this! I'm wiring 2 x 4- ohm subs in parallel for a 2-ohm final, But I didn't know where to stick my two wires. So in just one side will do it because they both go to the same place anyway. Thanks for the answer!
I just did an install about 2 weeks ago and this was driving me nuts! I finally did what you guys did with the ohm meter to test what in the world was going on. I wish I had this vid before the install, lol. The manual sucks on the Rockford mono amps with "A&B" output for the wiring portion. You guys rock!
thank you sir! not only did you explain how to hook it up but you also explained why it was done this way! makes a huge difference to me i dont learn much when someone says just do this and id be second guessing if im leaving half the power on the table or why theyd goto the expense of putting double outputs but knowing how and why gives me the full puzzle, i was gonna bridge and run my subs in parallel but itll be alot easier on my speaker wire thermally if i use both sets of terminals and run a wire for each sub!
Oh Lord thank you so much I have a prime R1200 1D and I was having the same dilemma. I have a kicker L7 15 in. And I thought I was going to have to buy a new amp
Thank you so much for this. One question I have is, how do I connect a 4 ohm DVC sub that has its coils wired in parallel inside the enclosure to an amplifier that has 4 terminals?
Thanks! As a noob, I have been wondering about that for quite sometime and really glad it's been addressed. My brother lives in Titusville, FL and in need of help regarding his system. How far is Clearwater from his 20? Thanks in advance!
On my amp , if I only have left input plugged in the subwoofers are much louder than if I use both left and right rca input? Any reasons behind this? Is it ok to do?
so i have a pioneer gm d8601 (1 ch with 4 speaker outputs) to hook up a pioneer ts swx3002 (1 12 inc svc sub).is there any options for this set up or is one sided positive to positive and so on.buy the way you guys are the best at what you do
So for 2 2ohm dvc subs in order to output 2ohm power I can just connect each sub to the + and - since it just y jacks? I have two kicker L7 2 Ohm and a mono alpine amp with 4 terminals thx
Can I still wire my 4 ohm subwoofer down to 2 ohms in side the box, it's a dvc and then take and put one subwoofer into a set or terminals on the amp and do the same for the other side?
So if I still want a final impedance of 2ohms do I still need to do parallel wiring with the speakers? Or that doesn’t matter anymore? Or does it matter if your mono block amp says what it plays at certain ohms??
QUESTION... if I'm powering a dual voice coil subwoofer off a mono amp, am I better off running the subwoofer in series off one set off speaker outputs, or using all four outputs and wiring up both voice coils? Please help, I'm a noob. My subwoofer is a JL Audio 13w7-D1.5 running off a JL Audio Slash 500/1 v2. Thank you
Shane Neville I'm sure you get this one daily. Thank goodness your big amps have 4 inputs. We need them yesterday for the ZVK 12s we did. 10 awg for the win.😁
So I have two pioneer 12inch sub 600watch RMS 2000watch peak, each connector parallel to a pioneer GM-D9601 class D mono amplifier, will I use only one + and - speaker output on the amp or both?
Am from Kenya and am looking for a monoblock amplifier that can play with 4 subwoofers please advice me the best monoblock you people are doing good work keep up
I hv sony xm gs100 class d amplifier .can u say ,how I will connect to my home ? .and what type of subwoofer I can use ?and how to connect the subwoofer
Hi I got some questions. I have a kicker cx300.1 and I'm trying to wire 2x 12 kicker comp 43c124 in two separate boxes to a 2ohm load. Can I just wire the two 4ohm sub directly into the two speaker terminals in the amp to get a 2ohm load? Or do I have to wire the two subs in parallel into one set of speaker wire to one of the amps speaker terminals? Amp; 150rms x1 @4ohm 300rms x1 @2ohm Subs; each 150rms, 300max @4ohm
I have the JBL GT5 2402BR. I read that they have a 2 ohm final impedance. There is only 2 holes in the box. If I was using this amp where would I put the red wire and where would I put the black wire.
So my question is if you have 2 dual 4-ohm subwoofers but want to wiring down to 1 ohm do I steal put both speaker on their own connections to the app that way or do I have to run them to one speaker terminal. I guess what I'm saying is does that method of giving them their individual speaker outputs doesn't steal allow me to wiring down to 1 ohm.
I have a jl jx500.1 MONO amp with 4 speaker outputs and one Dual voice coil 2ohm Kicker comp rt subwoofer, i want to run this sub @500rms@2ohm. Can i connect each voice coil (2+ and 2-) separately to the amp and it will run at 2ohm?
So I already understood the amp and why there are two of each positive and negative, what I'm not aware of is if there us any gain when running both voice coils on their own sets of wires. Why do people do that and would that change the subwoofers ohm level?
Thanks fellas great video .quick question???crescendo or crossfire mono block..8k....for the win?????please give me some honest opinions.....cause I've narrowed my picks down to these two amps.Oh I'm running two 12 in Team fi v3 subs. Any help or opinions would be nice .Thanks again
can i hook up two 2 ohm subs one on each side to get a 1 ohm instead of both together and getting just .5 ohm becuase my amp is this same amp the 750x1
I get so many questions about this in my shop. People will ask questions like "if i bridge this amp to 1ohm will i get more power" or "can i hook up 2 subs and bridge the amp to" all Kinds of questions really but it's good to know I can show them a video on my tv in my shop that explains everything.
Please help me bud from a old schooler here. I have a 2022 accord sport. I disabled the anc. Installed a 2ohm 300 watt rms kicker comp too a kicker cx400.1 running at 300 watts 2ohm. Tapped into the rear speakers for signal. Tge sub bangs fair. Outside of tge vehicle I don't even notice any rattling and inside the car it sounds ok. Too me it feels like it's lacking that kicker bumping I'm used too. Is it maybe because the rear speakers I'm tapping into have a weaker signal than the fronts? Or is it just how it's supposed too sound with only a 300 watt single 12 inch sub. 🤔
Aye i have that prime 500. I was thinking about buying another one and strapping it together. Can i strap my prime 500..i have and e12 sundown sub and it needs more power ans i like my prime 500 amp
thank you so much for this video. it helped me alot. i have 2 12" dvc 2 ohms and only have it to 1 side of the inpput. now is it possible that i can run my 2 12" at 1ohm and hook them up to A and B side. i have a RF 1500 watt amp. T1500-1bdCP and my subs are the P3 DVC? this would help me too and not be able to blow my speakers nor amp. thank you.
I want to buy a pair of DVC 4 ohm subs. If I wire them in parallel, they will go down to 2 ohms, correct? The amp I'll use gives 980 watts at 2 ohms. Someone told me that the subs will actually be down to 1 ohm. My question is, will the amp give the subs the 980 watts of 2 ohms power, or am I still not getting it? I am a novice, and I'm tired of looking for people to hook up my systems. Btw, I don't want to connect the subs together to have a single pos and neg. I want them to have their own connection at the amp. Thanks.
Not only does it look tacky (trying to shove two speaker wires into one terminal) but it also increases the risk of having a wire pop loose during operation and causing shorts.
If someone can please address; how can one know which wire gauge to use from the sub to the amp? How can it be determined? Ex: CS212LG-TW1 powering by the R500x1D Yes I know the sub is 600rms and am is 500rms and i currently have it as 14 gauge.
So if I have 2 dual 4ohm subs, each sub will be wired with own set of output from the mono amplifier. I want a 1ohm load, will I wire in parallel or series?
Always wondered also if it's a mono amp why does it need a left and right signal inputs from the crossovers or head Unit? I've seen people use the left only or right only but to me when both are added you get a louder bass (sound)
Nadeem Mohammed most radios give you a right and left for convenience. The sub output is usually mono out of the radio. More signal into the amp will make it sound louder.
Hey guys can I hook 10 spkrs 4ohms on a monoblock class D 4000w 1 ch amp? My oem system is a touch screan voiced eq touch screan 700w that got noooo power!! So I decided to upgrade all speakers and got another more powerfull monoblock class D amp to boost up my system ? Will this work ? If I bridge both amps ? Or just replace the oem 799 head to the new 4000w head ? Nd use the wiring thsts beem oem . Ty
Thanks so much. I have a really cheap mono amp that supposedly puts out 1000 watt rms at one ohm but has a peak of 6900 watts but also has a peak of 1600 watts according booklet. The booklet it has no info about anything and I was wonder if my sub was connected properly. All cleared up now
Mr foreign Scoot because it's my first car audio install it's fine, It plays loud enough. I have a 300 watt rms 12 inch pioneer svc and it powers it fine my next install will be better tho. I'm looking at a full pioneer or Kicker install next.
Vernon Williams Kicker sucks for the price. Go with audiopipe instead. For the price you pay on kicker for a single stack magnet you can get a double stack with way more flex from audiopipe.
So with to 12 inch four ohm DVC do you still have to jump them from subwoofer to subwoofer inside the box to get them down to 1 ohm or can you simply run each subwoofer to each positive and negative and get a 1 ohm load?
im wondering the same thing, but i think from the video you can wire it either way, bridged or not it wont matter, its going to the same inputs regardless of which outputs you connect to.
So if the inside of the mono is parallel and you have two sets of inputs if you connect two 2 ohm speakers one to each input the final lode will be 1ohm at the amp correct?
Great video and I get this question all the time also...now I'll send them to this video for the explanation. Thumbs up yo!
BigDWiz thanks man! The teaser trail for the old school meet up was great. I can't wait to see the whole thing.
OMG I have tried to explain this in retail so much (they are the same!) GREAT video explanation.
Larry Clements me too, always the blank look or the your crazy look.
FINALLY!....somebody makes sense about them 4 holes in a mono amps. Awesome info. Thank you!
THANK-YOU! There isn't much on the tube about this! I'm wiring 2 x 4- ohm subs in parallel for a 2-ohm final, But I didn't know where to stick my two wires. So in just one side will do it because they both go to the same place anyway. Thanks for the answer!

I wish I had this vid before the install, lol. The manual sucks on the Rockford mono amps with "A&B" output for the wiring portion. You guys rock!
Marty Swanson thanks, to funny. Yes all the manual suck.
This was quite informative. I have the 500.1 amp you showed in the beginning.
You both are great!
candlemedia for that amp we would use 12 awg on a long run (over 5) and 16 on a short run (under 5)
I have the same amp 500.1 how can I wire up a set of billet tweeters?
This is the exact video that I was needing. Awesome info and straight to the point!
thank you sir! not only did you explain how to hook it up but you also explained why it was done this way! makes a huge difference to me i dont learn much when someone says just do this and id be second guessing if im leaving half the power on the table or why theyd goto the expense of putting double outputs but knowing how and why gives me the full puzzle, i was gonna bridge and run my subs in parallel but itll be alot easier on my speaker wire thermally if i use both sets of terminals and run a wire for each sub!
OMG, I couldn't find the manual for my amp... and I couldn't figure this out. Thanks for the explanation.
So simple! Thanks guys! Keep it up! They really don`t explain in detail. Awsome.
Oh Lord thank you so much I have a prime R1200 1D and I was having the same dilemma. I have a kicker L7 15 in. And I thought I was going to have to buy a new amp
Very good information which has been at the back of my mind for years. Thank you.
You guys are great have helped me out alot with my system. Thanks!
Really helpful guys. Saved me a lot of fussing!
Makes perfect sense. Although I loved you "clueless" look at the beginning. LOL! You guys are awesome.
Tim datoolman thanks Tim, was my favorite part.
THANK YOU. I finally figured out how to ask the question correctly!!! Great explanation.
Thanks a lot guys this is driving me nuts too and there was no information thanks for the great video 👍
On point as always guys. Thanks!
Brian Miles thank you for watching
This video is a fantastic explanation. Thank you.
Very helpful video. I had the same question
You guys you guys rock you answered my questions perfectly
Most helpful video on UA-cam....
Thanks guys this is the first place i found this info
Thank you so much for this. One question I have is, how do I connect a 4 ohm DVC sub that has its coils wired in parallel inside the enclosure to an amplifier that has 4 terminals?

Excellent video as always!
Jason Myjak thank you
Exactly what I wanted to know. Thank you.
So for 2 2ohm dvc subs in order to output 2ohm power I can just connect each sub to the + and - since it just y jacks? I have two kicker L7 2 Ohm and a mono alpine amp with 4 terminals thx
But do i have to use all outs for a single voice coil sub or can i leave one positive and one negative just without wire?
Can I plug 2 double coil subs on this type of amp?
So you have a dvc sub and you can run each coil off it separately? Rite?
my amplifier its a pioneer GM-A3702, it has 2 channels, can i plug a subwoofer in the first channel and then plug spreakers on the second one?
Can I still wire my 4 ohm subwoofer down to 2 ohms in side the box, it's a dvc and then take and put one subwoofer into a set or terminals on the amp and do the same for the other side?
I had the kicker zx2500.1 on four L7S and I just wired the subs together one off the other....
So if I still want a final impedance of 2ohms do I still need to do parallel wiring with the speakers? Or that doesn’t matter anymore?
Or does it matter if your mono block amp says what it plays at certain ohms??
is it okay to connect two subs to one amp is the real question. Basically, I am asking, although you can do it. Should I be doing it ?
Sooo, in order to wire 3 12s to a pioneer gm-9601. I'd prepare my ohm load inside my enclosure and just use one + and 1 - at the amp correct?
What about the amp with 2 positives right next to each other and 2 negatives side by side?
QUESTION... if I'm powering a dual voice coil subwoofer off a mono amp, am I better off running the subwoofer in series off one set off speaker outputs, or using all four outputs and wiring up both voice coils? Please help, I'm a noob. My subwoofer is a JL Audio 13w7-D1.5 running off a JL Audio Slash 500/1 v2. Thank you

LOL for sure they need to have them.
I've been wondering this for a good while now. I didnt see your fingers show this BUT can i hook positive to "A" + and negative to "B" - ?
So I have two pioneer 12inch sub 600watch RMS 2000watch peak, each connector parallel to a pioneer GM-D9601 class D mono amplifier, will I use only one + and - speaker output on the amp or both?
Should I have a stereo amp for me 2- 10's or mono for my 2-10's? Which would sound better?
Am from Kenya and am looking for a monoblock amplifier that can play with 4 subwoofers please advice me the best monoblock you people are doing good work keep up
Awesome video guys
The Beige Wonder thank you very much
How do I wire 2 l7 dual voice coil 2 ohm speakers to my cxa 1800.1 amp that is 2 ohm stable. Please help me thanks
I have an alpine A-R75M amp and 1 alpine type r 12 inch, 4 ohm dvc, looking to add another sub what is my best plan of action?
Perfect. Just answered my question. Thank you.
Thanks guys, my prime R750-1D
Only has A on left and B on right for speakers, doesn't say + or -, wasnt sure which one to hook my + or - speaker to.

mr2ninjat thank you!
My amp is like that but it says specifically do not bridge! The amp will automatically detect the resistance and adjust as necessary
How about connecting 2 dvc? Was this only for 1 woofer?
I want to buy a pair of DVC 4 ohm subs. If I wire them in parallel, they will go down to 2 ohms, correct? The amp I'll use gives 980 watts at 2 ohms.

Great video. I have a question. How many remotes can be placed on one trigger? Thanks
R Rodriguez I would say no more the 2 or 3. After that add a relay
How does bridging actually work?
Great video. I've been curious about this just to embarrassed to ask.
Nicolas Radichel glad we could help
So if I have 2 dual 4ohm subs, each sub will be wired with own set of output from the mono amplifier. I want a 1ohm load, will I wire in parallel or series?
kevin10r parallel

Omg thanks so much!
Great Vid!
isnt that for dual voice coil
thank you
How do I know what to set the subsonic filter at on a mono amp?
To what your port is tuned at
And why would you not terminal your connections to a terminal block (clean) then run a single connection to the ammo anyways?
Thanks so much. I have a really cheap mono amp that supposedly puts out 1000 watt rms at one ohm but has a peak of 6900 watts but also has a peak of 1600 watts according booklet. The booklet it has no info about anything and I was wonder if my sub was connected properly. All cleared up now
Vernon Williams so what did you do about this
Mr foreign Scoot because it's my first car audio install it's fine, It plays loud enough.
So bridge or no?

Yes. That's what they explained in the video.
