    I love how you go into every little detail! Some sewers assume us beginners know all of the little “obvious” things and only provide minimal instruction. Love your videos! 💕

    Absolutely brilliant, I have watched a couple of videos but as a complete amateur your explanations were by far the best. The tips you made about cutting in to both hems that of the interface side and the actual garment too made a big difference, as it’s scary snipping for the first time into the v! plus the pressing of the seams the correct way really helped! Thank you

    Thank you Aneka, your videos are so clear and helpful. I watch many sewing vloggers and whilst I enjoy them all, I find that most show their makes but don't show us how they made them. I'm still quite new to all this so appreciate your tutorials. I would love to see a tutorial on grading between sizes on a pattern. Thanks.

    Thank you so much! I am trying to finish a dress but my neck line on the backside seems to be too much. I have lined up the shoulders and the V neck but the back has about an inch too much. What did I do wrong and how can I fix this?

    • @MadetoSew
      @MadetoSew  5 років тому +1

      Hi Tonya, oh no! Do you mean the Facing is too small for the neckline? Did you stay stitch or use stay-tape on your garment neckline? Otherwise has the garment stretched and the facing hasn't because you interfaced the facing? Feel free to send me a photo? info@madetosew.com I would also compare the original pattern pieces, check that the facing fits the garment pattern, then you know if it is your fault during the sewing process of a faulty pattern. Aneka, thank you for the tutorial. Really helpful. What kind of iron do you have? I changed a few irons but still not happy with my current one. What your recommendations would be for buying a good quality iron? Thank you.

    • @MadetoSew
      @MadetoSew  6 років тому +1

      Alyona Pavlyk Hi there! I have a steam iron, the brand is a Swiss company called LauraStar. I originally had one of their ironing systems (I was given this used as a gift, as they are expensive). I LOVED this ironing system, the iron was never too hot for fabric (it had a special plate for delicate fabrics) and the steam was amazing. Never any problems with it and my customers that used it in my in-person classes raved about it! With these systems the iron is attached to the ironing board, which makes it difficult to transport. The ironing board had functions such as a vacuum to suck the steam down or blow the board up with air. I actually found this frustrating that we couldn’t turn these functions off (when you press a tiny bit of fabric and the board blows up with air, your fabric is flown into the air!) But small price to pay for an incredible iron. However I now teach in different locations so needed a more portable version. I saved up for one of their Steam Generators, as this is a portable iron without ironing board and is what you will see in my newer videos. This iron is wonderful, steam is beautiful just like the big ironing system. Again I have never burnt or damaged any fabrics with this iron (unlike my husband’s Bosch Steam Iron that burnt my wedding dress fabric!). However I am currently have problems with the new Steam Generator pushing out water when you first use it. I am in contact with the company and they have assured me that this shouldn’t happen. So I will be getting them to look into it, to see if I have a problem model. The Steam Generator auto turns off which then makes this problem worse, pushing out water at the star every time you use it. So at present I wouldn’t be recommend it, hopefully mine is problematic and actually this isn’t standard. Sorry for the super long message, just wanted to give you an honest opinion! Aneka x

    Can I use this technique for jersey fabric too? Thanks

    • @MadetoSew
      @MadetoSew  4 роки тому +1

      Yes you can use this technique for jersey fabric but personally I would only use it for a more stable jersey such as ponteroma or a double knit jersey. In a lighter weight jersey you could use it but I would probably use a different technique with a binding instead.
      I hope that helps?
