Hello everyone, this video was previously only on Patreon however I have decided to release it here on UA-cam hence the longer format. Thank you to everyone over on Patreon who support these videos! I plan to start creating more UA-cam content again very soon!
I noticed you have a video on Grey Knights armor, but there are no Grey Knights on Eavy Metal. I happen to have a Grey Knight army. Any plans to add them?
Thanks for sharing, I am considering joining the Patreon to support your work but I saw it doesn't update often, are you planning more videos in the future?
I’ve been meaning to subscribe on Patreon for some time and finally have - this is content that you simply can’t get anywhere else and it’s worth paying for. The absolute greatest ‘eavy metal style tutorials in existence 🙌
Amazing content and an in depth tutorial with great tips for different levels of painters. Thank you so much. I really resepect your work and talent, making such high production value availlable! The palette and mini in focus, short explanations and great lighting and music. Wow!
Love to see a new (to me) Infernal Brush video! I find the 'Eavy Metal style fascinating and I love seeing how it is done. I've adapted some of the edge highlighting techniques in previous videos to my Emperor's Children (because the perfect legion deserves the best paint job).
First amazing paint job. Painting a full Cadian army in this high quality would be the best painted cadian army ever. Interesting to watch how to do it in very highend quality of painting. Painting a Cadian more for the table video would be cool to see, with simple tricks and less paints.
Hey @InfernalBrush, missed your content man, fantastic to see you back! amazing work as always! I notice you always tend to use sub assemblies. Do you have a video on your patreon or anywhere else that demonstrates exactly how to prepare your parts for this but MUCH more importantly how you glue them together after you've spent time painting them up all nicely without ruining the piantjobs with the glue and putting them together? Cheers
Hey thank you for the message. It's something I loosely cover in a few videos but I don't have a specific video on the topic. It is something I plan to cover in a future video
I really love your style of painting and video content. I wished you would do more of this more often, also for Horus Heresy or e.g. MESBG. Then I would be joining Patreon.
Love the video, I guess it also means Ninjons journey for finding the ‘eavy metal paint recipe for Astra militarum is complete. Please can you paint some genestealer cults in your next video?
This is great. One of the biggest challenges with Cadians is that they're so fiddly and cluttery that they can easily turn into muddy results. Blocking out the elements with black on top of a bright fabric (or vice versa) solves a lot of that.
hi mate. absolutely love your work. a real inspiration. watched every minute of this I don't have a lot of the GW paints you use, and don't get enough time to paint to consider buying them, so can I please ask you a question around your approach, to see if I can apply it to other paints and models? am I right in thinking that _typically_ (obviously not always) the process is... - pick a midtone, base coat with thin layers - pick a shadow colour, glaze it on into the recesses - use the shadow colour with less water to line the darkest recesses - pick a highlight colour, mix it with the midtone, glaze it on where the light catches - use the highlight colour, glaze it in smaller areas - use the highlight colour with less water for edge highlights and occasional spot highlights or am I missing something?
Tremendous video, thank you. The first of yours I've seen, did you cover painting the belt buckle and Sgt stripes in other videos too? I'm off to look some at more vids now, many thanks. Liked & subscribed 😊
Great video. You mentioned soft recesses on the model near the bottom of coat. Curious to know if you might have any recommendations as to how to actually define it more? Maybe like using a scriber? Thanks.
Thank you Marq. Yeah I suppose you could use a scriber but honestly I think just painting the line in and then highlighting it will give the same result to the eye. Thanks for supporting!
Is there a reason why in the eavy metal style you shade your midtones with glazes instead of starting from the shadow color and layering up like a lot of people do ? Btw congratulations on the Slayer sword, well deserved!
Thank you, Generally it's more efficient and easier to simply layer the midtones and glaze darker in value. Darker paints cover and glaze more easily over lighter ones so once you have the midtone established it's a lot less work to glaze it down.
Could you do a video on how to do power swords? I dont want to do NMM and I really like the way you do your swords! Also, have you ever done an emperors champion? I want to see your take on the black sword!
Hi ! Well done for your slayer sword, can you just tell me how you made the skin of the Trugg, the king of the Troggoths, please. In any case, thank you!
As someone not subbed to the patreon, i know this is basically begging for handouts. But... Would be cool to see a face tutorial in the eavy metal style on the youtube.
It's rare to paint more than 5-10 of anything to be honest so it's not like one person is doing it all. Put headphones on have some movies or music on in the background. It's not so bad, there's many worse jobs than painting toy soldiers haha
@@InfernalBrush Im actually curious what was a day in the life of eavy metal painter like at the studio? How do you guys decide who is gonna paint what?
@@InfernalBrush I think it would be. I feel like everybody on you tube talks about copying the box art and the style, but you never hear anything about the people or the job itself. For all we know GW locks you guys in some dark dingy room and doesn't let you out until you've edge highlighted everything. I don't think I've even seen a picture of what your workspaces and stuff looked like (though I could imagine pictures weren't really allowed or anything due to leaks).
@joan500x I would love to at some point, I love the model I actually bought a second one 😂 a few other videos to get out of the way first including the Lion
Hey, I wanted to ask you if you ever worked with the Forge World team back when the Heresy first took off, and if you can recall their formulas for that old Seafoam green? The pre-Sons of Horus Green one?
Hello there, I love your work, I was wondering if you could give a bit of details on how do you work in subassembly, like which tools you use, do you pierce holes, do you glue stuff, how do you remove them at the end, do you use superglue to put your models together, etc Sorry if those are stupid questions but it seems so comfy to work this way I'd love to try lol
Hello, it is something I've briefly covered in videos such at the 3rd Ed Tyranid one and maybe Cities of Sigmar ones you can also find on this channel. I drill holes into the parts using a pin vice/manual hobby drill and a 0.8mm-1mm drill bit. I then cut pieces of paper clip to size and lightly glue them in place. I then push the wire into wine corks to hold the parts. When I glue them I first lightly scratch the connecting surfaces with a scalpel to expose the plastic and then I mostly just use regular plastic glue applied with a brush applicator (Tamiya Cement) and glue as normal. I hope this helps!
how are the arms glued to an already painted surface? any tips from any of yall when gluing subassemblies? I've tried scraping the paint off but it's a pain if you deform the surface too much...

Yay, finally a video after 9 months (man, too long! We need you!)
This is how you CAN paint your 60 guardsmen, but for the love of god, don't
I agree 🤣please don't. A kill team maybe
Why not?
Thank you for making this video. I have always loved the guard and now I have the resources to paint them with the respect they deserve!
Congratulations on your slayer sword, so very well deserved! Thank you as always for the magnificent content.
Imagine painting an entire Regiment to this standard 🤯
your setup is SO CLEAN. i love it
Thank you Chewie ❤ glad you like the T-shirt. Was awesome meeting you
@InfernalBrush likewise :) until next time :)
I am having a great time following this tutorial, thank you for making this.
Absolutly love all of your videos. Thanks for your work!

How do you glue the pieces without the glue destroying your paint job?
Another amazing tutorial
Ill certainly use some of this for the GSC Killteam in the old Broodbrothers scheme

Excellent tutorial! A lot of effort and time for one soldier but the results are fantastic, expert painting!

It would look great but it would take a very long time. I think you could cut back on a few stages and still get a very good looking result though.

Would Zandri Dust be an acceptable primer? I also have Corax White
