Jimmy Thai I’m looking to possibly get an xrs in the future ..? All the one’s I’ve come across have well over 250,000 plus miles on them and where all banged up , hard to find a xrs in good shape , but I found a 2.4 liter S awd model that’s in pretty decent shape that I’lll be picking up tomorrow , if everything checks out , , I have a 06 base that I’ve been holding onto since it was brand new , it now has 270,000 miles on it , it still runs , but it started leaking oil , all over the back of the head from the chain tensioner seal , I screwed it up a bit by stripping the 2way bolts that holds it in , but now I might have to pull the engine to access the broken studs 😞, I’ll try a couple of more things first , but before I pull the motor , and if I do have to pull the motor , I’d like to go over it , clean it up , and add a few mods ....,,and throw it into a xr or xrs if possible , but back to the other matrixes , my wife has a 06 base with about 45,000 miles on it , that she got from her mother , and wants to add some things , like a xr or xrs kit , A blue 07 xr with 117,000 , that I’m going to keep for my daughter when she’s able to drive , that’s the one I’m driving now , but yeah these cars have been the least trouble free cars I’ve ever owed , had three or four VW’s , and a Cadillac , they were also good cars but , Toyotas have a good reputation for a reason or two ,Toyota’s do have their issues , like anything else , but the quality of their parts and engineering are second to none , they stick to what works , and not try to reinvent the wheel , I guess that’s why they out last almost every manufacture out here , Toyota’s last and they are not cheap today $$$ & oh and I also have a 13 RAV4 xle awd that I got brand new as well ,
Kinda in over my head with Toyota’s , but I’m also looking into getting a mustang gt just for kicks , and I also have gotten back into riding street motorcycles , so many other machines out here and so little time to give them all the attention they deserve , that’s why I lost focus on the Toyota’s cause they never really needed that much attention in the first place , but with anything else , we take things for granted , and it comes back to bite us in the ass , but 270,000 miles and still running is not a bad bite in the ass, just need to puts things back in place and button her up , and give it the attention it deserves which is not that much ...
This is a very common problem with the C-59 and C-60 transmission. I would personally try Redline MT-90 oil in the tranny first. I'd also suggest double clutching while the transmission is cold. Once warm the sythetic transmission oil will make every shift smoother.
So the matrix and the vibe are basically the same car would these body mods like the grill and bumper fit into a vibe? Iv got a vibe but hate the way the front grill looks like and same for the headlights and tail lights
Unfortunately not, they're actually distant cousins. Body mods like the grille and bumper will not fit interchangeably onto a Vibe unless you do some major modifications to the parts then yes. IIRC most of the custom parts for the Vibe are more or less fabricated instead of aftermarket. There's a JDM car version of the Vibe called the Toyota Voltz and it has power folding mirrors, RHD dash, and a bunch of cool stuff, but importing them to the states would be difficult. Those are the few I can name in regards to finding aftermarket body modifications for the first generation USDM Pontiac Vibe.

Hey Jimmy, i'm from the matrix group on facebook. I am trying to install the power outlet in my 06 xr. so far i got an inverter from a vibe and plugged that in. All i need now is to pluck out the storage compartment on my matrix and put in the compartment that has the wires and outlet from a vibe right? What do i use to remove that piece? And a relay as well above the glovebox ?
I’d recommend removing the whole entire trim piece (HVAC controls down to shifter trim). Open the compartment lid and use a mini saw to saw off the hinges on the side. You can damage it if you want since you won’t be needing it anymore. Then put on the piece with the 115V outlet and button in the very back of the storage compartment there will be a traced area (made by Toyota) that you can cut out to make a hole for the wires to slide through the back. Easier said and done! Plug and play process. Relay goes up top behind the glove compartment, might be a tad difficult to get to because of weird positioning. If you need anymore assistance, let me know!
@@thai2zz35 thanks man, i got the panel and relay now. I assume the wires that go into the panel are tucked behind the storage compartment in those slots right. This is gonna a bit of a pain in the ass lol
Nagu Yes, right behind those slots. It’ll be easier if you remove the whole bottom trim (HVAC knobs down to the shifter area - it’s all one piece). Use tweezers to grab the wires after you’ve cut the slots out.
Plug and play, however it's encouraged that you get the foam piece that sits behind the bumper and on top of the reinforcement bar before you mount the front bumper. Other than that, direct swap! Two 10 mm screws, two phillips heads, and a plastic clip. Yank off that bumper! Unless if you have those oem clips underneath, then you'd have to remove those as well.
