I just started out Vrising & I feel like this is the single most useful video about castle design. Not only do I have more ideas whilst watching but also felt like I've learnt very important lessons to what to do & what-not, be it mechanically or not. Perhaps there are other videos similar elsewhere but for now my point stands. Feels like the same resource obtained in this video can be applied to basically any other video games; better yet in real life!
Great video, great ideas. As a novice castle builder myself I loved watching this video. You gave some great tips. LOVED that you pointed out utilizing invisible tiles. There's a neat trick for breezeways using invisible tiles. You can put the garden fence inside the railings if you put down the invisible tiles first, put the garden fence down where you want the railings and then replace the invisible tiles with your walkway.
"I'm not the best at this" - proceeds to tour the most amazing castle build I've ever seen in this game, holy cannoli bro that looks ~awesome~. I love this game, it's so good - I love that you can spend days just foraging for wood and stone to build a cool castle if you want, OR, skulk about murdering people with a frenzied bloodlust if you want. It hits all the right spots.
Hahah I actually went to go do some decorating last night, and as i was leaving my old castle I saw some things I could change...... and it turned into a 2 hour makeover of the central entry way. FUCK! IT'S SO ADDICTING!
I am trying to get out of the habit of minmaxing all my rooms and instead trying to make them aesthetically pleasing. Playing on a PVE server has allowed me to relax a bit on the design of my castle.
I need to do this, my size keeps changing as the machines keep changing go to next levels sizes etc. Ended up with my teleporter being close to all my rooms in a circle, then a small coloured teleporter to take me straight to my other area. Oh also have the rooms way out the way so when you walk into the castle it’s aesthetic garden etc
One of my favorite little tricks with flower plots is to make patterns with similar flowers. Mourning Lily/Plague Briar both have the hooked stems, Fire Blossom/Snow Flower are both the short stems, and Hell's Clarion/Ghost Shrooms have the tube design. So I'll do two diagonal lines of one, and two of the other. Or a 2x2 checkerboard pattern of two similar types, or even alternating stripes. It really makes your gardens stand out.
There is no longer a need to go into your ini files to modify existing games. Go to your main menu, select load, select the game you want to modify, then click edit settings in the bottom right corner. :) QOL for the win!
I use to match the style of my rooms with lights, like for a crypt I use esotheric lights, for castle entrance simple torches. FOr dining room candles, etc. Very nice tips, thx for the video.
This is really interesting to watch. Been cooking for a couple hundred hours on my own. Never actually seen how anyone else builds their castles. Your ideas for how rooms should be constructed and connected are very different than mine, and it is very interesting.
6:55 theres actually a built in way to do it, if you go onto load game, click on the save file and then press edit setting (should be at the bottom) you can edit all the settings
I usually use ground level as Basement Put everything related to underground unit Like Prison,Servant and Alchemy Lab Also have mini Park on the middle
I agree. Maybe too much so as I find myself hunting V Blood, eluding other vamps and working on the castle. When it came out in EA, I would spend hours creating castles for defense. I think I am going to upload an old vid showing my first pvp stronghold.

Love the video, the castle designing is one of my favorite aspects of the game. I like looking at peoples individual rooms, helps me get ideas foir mine as I struggle with balancing efficiency over aesthetic
something I do is often for garden is let the real ground since i feel the grass is more beautifull depending the area since the grass are taller and have somekind of flower inside and since you can place flower and with flower you can stop rock from spawning or broken wall and still look natural I think.
Me and my friends are playing this game for the first time. We are heart level 2 and I’ve been put incharge of building the castle because I have experience building on Minecraft. Thought I would come here for some tips. I geuss my building experience on Minecraft really blended itself with my brain with out knowing. I was already happy with my castle but wanted to see some small tips and tricks to take it that extra step further but i had already subconsciously done literally every thing in this video. I would love a more in depth look on building techniques such as the garden paths you were showing. General stuff is cool and I respect the time and effort people put in to getting the basics of building down but It would be nice to see some videos of advanced building stuff for people that might not know the game well but still come from a back ground of solid building designs and interior knowledge. Things that no one would know unless they have played v rising for a while and less of basic castle shapes and room sizes. Again not to knock anyone that is learning this, I love the passion behind it and hope everyone continues to learn and enjoy the game :)

Just started a 1.0 game. Started with a plot of land that still has 2 tiers to it. That way I can have all my workshop stuff on the bottom layer,, then with a mansion on the hill. If it was PvP, I'd use the first tier as defence, most likely. I know it's a spot that people like for PvP, but I always liked the plots with multiple tiers. Most of these are gone now though, however.

That video is very interesting but not about about the design thing, well kind of. lol I started V rising like a few weeks ago on my own private server (since i have no friend i always my games solo), but when i watch V Rising videos i find it funny that it show how crazy people can be when they can create lol in this games at least lol. I feel like 80% or maybe 95% of V Rising players are like create the craziest castle possible just because you can. I do not say that in a bad or wrong way though lol i just find that fascinating lol. I wanted to comments here too to maybe show and speak about maybe a different point of view how you can design nicely your castles. I'm normally a very creative person in some domain but in Base/House/Castle in game, i am not fan of the craziest ideas mainly because i don't have that much time to give to a game. So my main focus when i design a castle by example is simplicity, practicality and realistic but all in nice fashion vampire way ( some people would say: 'yeah right, like if vampires were realistics.' :P) So my inspiration is more based on Vampires movies, series, etc, rather then videogame or anime(where they can go crazy crazy lol). So when i look at my castle it would look like the one in movies and/or be realistic enough that you could build it in real life if possible or simply looking good enough that you could say that it look like if the game designer did it lol All that to point out, in every game with base/house/castle design some people will tell you that going crazy is the best way and/or saying that going basic or simple is boring, BUT always remember it is always YOUR playthrough and NOT THEIRS, so crazy or simple always do what make YOU happy. Tiny advice from a old gamer lol.

Nope you can totally raid and destroy castles! But that's a per server basis. If you'd like to join ours come on in! No server raiding but full on pvp!

On the fence about this game as I really did not like the building element of Valheim. I like it when it's done right, like the Sims, but as soon as there is some jank, I don't have time for it. Aside from the garden paving, is the rest okay?
Would you say a lot of this is trial and error as well? Sure there are tips and tricks, certainly everything in this video was useful! Though I feel like a lot of it can just go down to trial and error for the most part. I just started and I feel like my first castle will definitely not be what I want it to be. Any advice for easily removing stairs? Specifically the ones that have attached themselves to adjacent walls and seem to require you to delete EVERY adjacent wall and pillar before you can delete them. Also, do you happen to know any tricks for placing staircases directly at the top of other staircases instead of needing a tile between them? I feel like stairs are my most consistent issue lol
Stairs are just coded that they represent foundations but also need a foundation tile at the top and bottom so it makes them the most annoying feature to use. They are picky about where you can place them and count as a foundation for everything they touch.
I wish they add bed even just as decoration and we cannot sleep on this if the animation would be to hard to make since it s not a coffin. I wish we could put different roof to.
A sad thing is that I can't find inspiration anywhere because I have a different idea to go about making castles. To me, a 3x3 room for a solo castle is already massive, how many people is a single vampire going to receive? Ho many rooms are simultaneously used? Yet all I can find is massive places of worship that don't look at all homely or really even elegant, just a bunch of things strewn about. I landed on your video 5 times in my time looking for something that would inspire me, you seem like the only guy I can speak with in at least a similar language. Close, but no cigar.
Are pvp servers pvp everywhere anytime? Or just specific locations? And also, do you loose everything when you die and you need to craft it/find it again? Talking about legendary weapons, jewels and super rare stuff that’s hard to get. I kinda feel I’ll short my lifespan with this game without pvp as I wouldn’t be playing it at it’s full capacity but yeah… If you can loose it so easily I think I’ll definitely go PvE.
Meanwhile I'm 150 into the game and have never decorated 1 thing. Nothing. Not even carpets.😅 This makes me reconsider. I just don't think I can come up with such cool designs and borrowing from someone doesn't sit well with me either.
You borrow then mix it up! Get inspired by little things.. Oh man I like what they did with those carpets so let me use that then build the rest of the room. Or hey they used hedges on an awesome way. You can copy an entire room, sure, but once you start borrowing little things it creates a landslide
I wonder why there are no step by step instructions for how to build my castle. I know they do for Sims, Minecraft and other games where you can build someone else's creation. For V Rising, it seems like nobody wants to share their creation. Just frusted since I am absolute dogcrap at starting at building something because I am not very creative. It would be nice just have a shell of a castle to work with.

I'd say watch castle tours and decide on certain things you for sure want then try to make those happen. It usually falls together to make a cool custom castle!
@@italianspartacus Just built a ridiculously large castle with all 800 tiles used and 6 floors one castle and another 5 floors on a connecting building, lol. Now I am thinking, to delete it all together and just make a cozy cottage with a workshop building and a stable for a few horses. I wish there was a way to shift or control select structures so I can dismantle more than one at a time.
The issues with putting pathways is so dumb. Why isn't there just a "press shift to manually place" button? Kind of turning me off getting the game, since I hate having to deal with such frustrating, dumb and time wasting broken mechanics in games like these. :/

If you hit the "Load Game" function, you can modify the server settings of a solo game. I don't think that you need to edit the ini files anymore

Press start/escape, go to the vampire powers tab, select the spirit wolf, and you'll see a little arrow button, click that :)

Alternate shapes are DLC additions. They offer variant shapes for the wolf, bear, human, etc... Each DLC should specify what they offer.

Would you try to make PvP castle designs for both safe and good looking
Are pvp servers pvp everywhere anytime? Or just specific locations? And also, do you loose everything when you die and you need to craft it/find it again? Talking about legendary weapons, jewels and super rare stuff that’s hard to get. I kinda feel I’ll short my lifespan with this game without pvp as I wouldn’t be playing it at it’s full capacity but yeah… If you can loose it so easily I think I’ll definitely go PvE.
It just depends on the rules of the server :) My server is 100% PVP all the time, but no one ever does it hahaha
Meanwhile I'm 150 into the game and have never decorated 1 thing. Nothing. Not even carpets.😅 This makes me reconsider. I just don't think I can come up with such cool designs and borrowing from someone doesn't sit well with me either.
You borrow then mix it up! Get inspired by little things.. Oh man I like what they did with those carpets so let me use that then build the rest of the room. Or hey they used hedges on an awesome way. You can copy an entire room, sure, but once you start borrowing little things it creates a landslide
I like placing servant coffens on either side of a carpet. It creates a nice ominous path.
I wonder why there are no step by step instructions for how to build my castle. I know they do for Sims, Minecraft and other games where you can build someone else's creation. For V Rising, it seems like nobody wants to share their creation. Just frusted since I am absolute dogcrap at starting at building something because I am not very creative. It would be nice just have a shell of a castle to work with.

@@italianspartacus Well, this one specifically, since it is the biggest plot and I am also at there now at the moment trying to figure out a way I want things. Thanks for the response by the way. My brain is just usually very empty when it comes to building a castle. I sit there for hours trying to figure something out and nothing comes, lol.
I'd say watch castle tours and decide on certain things you for sure want then try to make those happen. It usually falls together to make a cool custom castle!
@@italianspartacus Just built a ridiculously large castle with all 800 tiles used and 6 floors one castle and another 5 floors on a connecting building, lol. Now I am thinking, to delete it all together and just make a cozy cottage with a workshop building and a stable for a few horses. I wish there was a way to shift or control select structures so I can dismantle more than one at a time.

The issues with putting pathways is so dumb. Why isn't there just a "press shift to manually place" button? Kind of turning me off getting the game, since I hate having to deal with such frustrating, dumb and time wasting broken mechanics in games like these. :/
