yes this. Miss him too. Not only his energy, but as a CX fan, listening to him do the commentary was just awesome. (oh, and he did some great stuff on GCN too)
Two estranged 'brothers' back together, wheelies on road bikes and being chased by a vicious dog out training. I'm feeling an 'American Flyers' remake in the works!
Thanks for all of your awesome coverage of Mt Washington. I did it for the first time this year what an amazing experience. For anyone similar to me I'm a 54 year old female around 3.1 w/kg rider and my setup was a single 26 chainring and 11-34 cassette, with this gearing the climb was tough but manageable.
I never even heard of this ride until coincidentally my family and I took the train to the top the same morning as this year’s annual ride. Now I feel inspired to try it next year. I just need to figure out how to train for it.
There are a lot of questions about JPOW and what he's up to. I was lucky enough to run into him yesterday and he joined me for a fun MTB ride on drop bar bikes this morning. He's full time working for Woop marketing/consulting and says that there will be some more GCN content coming out in the future. If you're wondering, Jeremy has mad/insane bike skills and rides the woods with teenager abandon. He was joking about riding the hill race at 200 watts, add 100 to that. His GCN content is absolutely some of their best and he is a genuine nice guy to hang with.
Jeremy is a New England Boy, so he automatically cool! He also came down to Rhode Island for a very cool GNC ride, so that makes him even cooler! Congratulation Phil! Look luck healing!! DD
I recently tried a wheelie on my road bike and totally crashed, when I saw Jeremy do a wheelie without even having a finger over his rear brake my jaw dropped haha
A 1:1 ratio seems to be the go to set up for riders looking to win Mt Washington. If you know you're not going to win, gear yourself well under 1:1. You both got it right!
Great stuff Love the bike nerd details. I set up my Cannondale with a straight bar, with single thumbie, single front ring and a cassette with only the 4 lowest cogs. I use a 26" wheel on the front both because it's lighter and the forward angle makes climbing more comfortable. IIRC, it was right on 11lbs
Loved all the videos re; Mt Washington. I’m sure you got this comment from many others but I didn’t want to waste time reading them all to make sure this wasn’t a duplicate…but any modern Shimano road derailleur 11 or 12 speed will work with your 34T chainring and 11-34 cassette. Nothing wrong with XTR of course but DA is a little lighter. FYI only, great video!
@@worstretirementever Ha. Then what would I ride?!?! I literally have performed no maintenance on these pedals since 2004, and they're still going fine (granted starting to get a little play in the bearings now...).
Love me so J-Powers and Phil while drinking the Monday espresso. Desperately looking for a Moose (the dog) sighting with no luck🙄. On another not, I don’t think I have ever seen you so closely aero face shaved man 🪒💨. Congrats again✌🏼
@jeremy powers inspired me to 🚴 out to Mt. Greylock, after he 🚴♂️ from Mt. Wachusett to Greylock. He has to be able to summit the Rock🏔Pile. Now, where's the 📼 of the ascent from either of you?
Too funny - in one breath your calling rim brake lovers "old skool rim dorks" yet on the biggest "race" of your year, what is your go-to bike, a rim brake....lol
Also why do you need an XTR derailleur for an 11-34? Is it lighter than the GRX 810 which would be compatible with road shifters without tanpan? I run my GRX der with an 11-40 with no modifications save for the B limit
Yeah part of it is that, even in isolation, riding back down would be pretty crazy, but on most summer days there are lines of cars coming up and down the mountain so there's not much room for bikes. The only two days per year you can ride it is the practice ride and the race.
Yea, the Mt. Washington auto road operates like a tourist attraction - costing something like $50 to drive up (the last time I went) and usually has a good amount of cars going up and down
Jesus, man. The race was two days ago, and you're also teasing us with still photos of the event? smh. I looked it up. Phil won by a mere seven seconds over Erik Levinsohn, whoever that is, with a time of 50:38.
Fun to see Jeremy Powers again, miss him on GCN!
Yeah, his energy for GCN was awesome
yep, he was one of the best ever in GCN
The World needs more Jeremy Powers videos!
yes this. Miss him too. Not only his energy, but as a CX fan, listening to him do the commentary was just awesome. (oh, and he did some great stuff on GCN too)
He's being doing some CX color commentary on GCN+ this season!

Same here, first time with a 26t 1x and 11-32 in the rear. I found it more tough than manageable, but I managed to tough it out.

Awesome!! I live in western mass too and have been geeking at the idea of running into JPOW. He rocks. Glad you actually did!!
Jeremy and Phil, what a pair of bike geeks! They are the best! Jeremy fitness is relative! Good Luck.
Thumbs up for Jeremy. I liked his presentations on GCN.
Glad to see Creature has gotten a job with velo fix to carry her weight a little. Raisin’ ‘em right, Phil!
Jeremy super cool guy and did some great videos with GCN, definitely worth checking out.

“What’s this weird tandem bike?” 🤣 That’s where parents sneak in their weight training. 💪🏻
It's great to see JP agin. Looking forward to the hill climb. KB
I hiked up the Rock Pile a few years ago. I love the White Mountains.
Great stuff

The fact that Jeremy puts his sunglass temples under his helmet straps makes me not feel as bad when I do it sometimes. :D
Good to see Jeremy and you too. Wondered were he went. Loved his content and style on that other channel. Take care, Al
Nicely done, Phil. Very enjoyable video. Jeremy is a super nice dude. Looking forward to the race vid.
Thanks Phil and Jeremy....you are hilarious , dude , " WTF Jeremy "? He's "Sramming ", against UCI and BPOE rules !

Wasn’t expecting to see the back brake removed!
More of Jeremy! Fun video.
He’s such a lovely guy. Was an awesome GCN presenter. What’s he up to these days?
Love seeing Jeremy!
You bastard! You made me spit coffee all over my desk with that empty toilet paper roll. 🤣😆😁
I love the text explaining what eBay is after 5 minutes of bike jargon! 😆
I can imagine taking off a 12g bottle cage to save weight once I've lost my 12kg of additional body fat.
Jeremy, not Pearl Jam one. Aldo, this one is pure Jem, legend in fact.
Always great content with JPow! I"m still riding the Time Impacts! Their pedals are bombproof!
Jeremy says he’ll give you $1 million for them
@@worstretirementever Ha. Then what would I ride?!?! I literally have performed no maintenance on these pedals since 2004, and they're still going fine (granted starting to get a little play in the bearings now...).
I too use the old RXS pedals. They are too good to give up!
Jeremy, miss you at GCN
I still have that Ralpha/Focus cap. Miss seeing Powers!!
For my metric brethren, 13.03lbs = 5.91kg
Goooo JPOWS!! Dad watts to the max!
tell me again how you can match enhanced times up a climb but your not doping.....
Love the bike geek stuff!
I just realized how much Jeremy looks like my science teacher🤣
Has anyone ever seen your science teacher and J-Pows in the same room??
@@Eramsay121 unfortunately not, that would be something I'd pay to see though
4:40, as Mollema said.. F*CKING SRAAAAAM!
hey phil could you put a link in the description of that ebay website you were talking about

I've never seen JPow not smiling.
JPow in the house!

Damn you were in Western Mass i just missed you!
Yes! Love it!
JPOW! Who could have called a Phil video in Western Mass :)
Phil….when will we see the race video….BTW…..congrats
Time RXS carbon pedals ftw
You didn't hack saw off the drops for this climb?!
J-POW!!!!
Woohoo J Pow! NIce.
Congrats on Mt Washington! Any video?

Has Jeremy got enough wheel bags?
Looks like an 11-30 cassette on the training wheels.
The banter 🤣
Miss Jeremy on GCN. Another host that just disappeared.
Might he be back for cross coverage?

My Diverge came stock with 11-34 and Tiagra. Must be some advantages to lower level components...
Mazel on the dub!
13lbs = 5.89kgs
No hacksawing off the bar ends any more?
What's that Alu wheel? Dura ace c24?
Couldn't you also lose a shifter if you only have one front chainring? Just reroute the cable from the right shifter to the front brake
Which of course is where it should be. It must be really confusing for cyclists that are also bikers on that side of the pond.
Bigger rings better for efficiency
was jeremy powers on GCN? havent seen him in a while.
one would think powers would have a dishing tool. oh well
More J Powers.
Jeremy needs a few cheeseburgers w fries .
Is Jeremy not a GCN presenter? Who is doing it in USA?
Is Mt Washington normally closed to cycling? What's the deal with that, safety?

@@hiimmichal after this year's race there were already over 100 cars lined up waiting to drive up the road by 12 pm
Wind up there can be absolutely no joke. That mountain is legitimately dangerous in ways besides height and steepness.
Where are the results from this years race?
I see Phil won. Amazing amount of watts he puts out.
