      Glock doesn't have a long track record of being ass. There's things about a Glock that are ass, but if you're a good shooter it doesn't matter. Springfields have been functionally and reliably ass for years. Glocks don't have problems with broken firing pins, springs, and cracked frames. Use your brain.

    • @bdkj3e
      @bdkj3e 5 місяців тому +22

      @@kayshell66I've literally never heard about them having an issue with frames cracking, I did a search and could only find about 4 cases and exactly one picture on Google images, I did the same for Glock and found dozens. But I also saw Walther, CZ, H&K, and others. They're all plastic guns, molding plastic is hard and some of them are going to crack no matter what, as long as they warranty it properly.

    • @kayshell66
      @kayshell66 5 місяців тому +2

      @@bdkj3e You should actually click the links to see why they cracked so you can add context to your reasoning. Frames should NEVER (not sometimes) crack under normal use or mild bumps. The broken firing pins and broken springs that I also mentioned are the most dangerous catastrophic failures that XDM’s in particular have suffered from. Combine that with Springfields philosophy as a company and it’s an easy “don’t buy”.

      @@sikertsok225 I understand that brother. I’m just saying the management of SA are the ones who wanted to change the platform due to them losing out on contracts simply because LE and military had no interest in a grip safety on their pistols. They wanted to design a new platform and SA goes over what they want in the new designs. The design credit goes to all involved. The XD platform existed before SA got involved. The Echelon was a collaborative design. I do understand the weapons are made by HS. They make some great quality weapons imo.

      @@starscream4282 As far as I know it, it's been in the works on the Croat side for 4+ years. They were fucked over for Hungarian, French and Slovakian contracts cause they had a grip safety, so for round 2 of the Hungarian trials they brought 2 prototypes of the Echelon. In the end the CZ P-07/09 family won, but if HSP had a better schedule for delivery, they would have taken the contract easily.

      Wouldn’t it be a good idea to fit into the MOST COMMON holsters on the market? Just seems like a good business decision IMO. So many people (me included) are going to be turned off by the fact that the gun will require a new holster or set of holsters, while essentially being the same as my Glock.
      Take a look at the PSA DAGGER. It’s a Glock clone, with upgrades (stippling, slide cuts, RMR cut) and it fits in Glock holsters AND takes Glock mags. Not saying every gun needs to do that, but a Glock clone clearly can benefit from comparability with existing guns. Logistics are just easier.

    I shoot M&Ps pretty well and have shot the Echelon close to 2K rounds. The Echelon has a short trigger reset, straight trigger, fun to shoot fast. Trigger pull is little bit lighter than a Glock. The thumb ledge actually helps. If you are used to 1911s and M&Ps, one thing you’ll have to remember is to bend your wrist down from the draw when aiming and finding the dot because it has the same Glock grip angle. If you’re used to the Glock grip, then it’s exactly the same for you. I hope Springfield will come out with a grip module with 1911 grip angle. Also, on reloading, usually the slide closes automatically. I usually don’t like that because I have an M&P bodyguard that does that also and sometimes the slide automatically slams shut during a reload but it didn’t actually picked up and load a round in the chamber. On the Echelon, it never failed to load a round in the chamber when slide auto-releases. It doesn’t matter if you only have 1, 3 round or a full mag, if the slide closes on reload, it always picked up a round and chambered it in my experience.

      My p365xl does the same thing with the locked back slide cycling itself when putting in a mag. but after lubing it, polishing the feed ramp and breaking in the gun/mags at around 500-1000 rounds, it seems to reliably feed at least

      @@BitCuration About 2K rounds, dropping the 20 and 17 round mags on concrete (indoor range), not one problem with the the mags. If you install the mag extender wrong, you sneeze, the mag springs open and goes undone. You install it correctly and the base locks up and won't come apart. Unlike Glock, the Echelon spits out empty mags like an old car cassette player that wants to put a black eye on the rear seat passengers. Mags don't drop out, they get spit out. No need for weighted mag bases. With Glock, some mags sometimes stick and wont easily drop free.

    I just bought an Echelon, which is my first Springfield, after looking at Glock 45/34/47/17/19, M&P 5" PC, and several Sigs. I understand it throws a wrench in things, but I like that the trigger guard is enlarged a bit for those who wear duty gloves. Loved your vid.

    Me, being a huge fan of the Walther, Canik, CZ, Sig Sauer, and FN, I was hesitant to get a Springfield Echelon at first. That changed after watching several reviews by respected true experts (with legit military and police credentials and backgrounds) giving their own personal assessments on the Echelon. So, I decided to buy one.
    The Echelon is faaantastic!!! It is very accurate with a smooth trigger pull and it's quite pleasant to shoot. I love it! Nowadays, I carry it often with confidence. The Echelon is truly a great quality handgun at an affordable fair price.
    With that said, if you are a die-hard Glock fanatic loyalist, the Echelon (and no other handgun, for that matter) is "good enough" for you. "Nothing but Glock" cult followers can not accept change or competition.
    Last, I love Glock pistols, too. I own two. *I just have an open mind regarding the evolution of firearms.*

    It’s an interesting conundrum we’re in. I wouldn’t even consider this pistol and a few others because nobody makes a holster for them. Holster companies obviously can’t make a holster for a gun they don’t yet know will be popular. So there’s basically just a revolving door we’re stuck in. I actually think this is the main reason why Glock has been able to stay at the top of the mountain. It’s a pistol that has good infrastructure basically.

      If you have a tactical light on your handgun, you can get a true universal holster that locks itself to the light instead of the gun. I got one from Werkz, and that one holster completely works with my different Olight models, M&P compact and full-size, Glock 19 and 17 and the Echelon. I also have a universal holster IWB from Safariland that works with all those above handgun models without the light.

The stand off device to allow you to push your muzzle into something and pull the trigger is amazing. The only kind of ( breaking point) I have found is the mag extension method. While the CZ p10 did not kill the Glock, it should have. Unless they absolutely want a Glock, i would recommend the p10 over the Glock to any new shooter.
    And the Echelon is the same deal. It's better than a stock Glock. Unless you want to customize your Glock because you know what you are doing, or getting a straight up custom Glock like a Shadow Systems gun, why buy one? The Glock was innovative. Was. Now they need to be bullied into innovating again or slowly die out. For the customers sake.

Which should be a non-issue because every other pistol gets a pass in this department, it is assumed that every gun needs a specific holster made just for that gun. Did Springfield try to market Echelon as holster compatible with Glock?

    The lugs they use for optic mounting some optics reminds me of a mount I got from strike industries the “Rex” reflex mount back in the day. They use the same idea.

    Lucas typical day: needs to shoot 1k rounds before a board meeting.
    Normal human: trying to find time and $ to shoot 100 rounds in a month.
    Thanks Lucas for doing the research we can’t!

    One thing I notice when handling an echelon recently… well 2 things. The mag release wouldn’t settle back into place and would ride off center and would drop the mag unintentionally. Another thing I noticed was that the trigger was rubbing funny on the inside of the frame which would get caught up even after the trigger safety blade was flat. Just 2 things I’ve noticed to far

      If that were a common problem it would be everywhere. Random mag drops are pretty much the second most disqualifying thing after bang/nobang issues.

    Glad to hear I’m not the only one suffering from light primer strikes with wbb. Doesn’t happen a lot of times but enough that I don’t really shoot wbb much anymore.

    I replaced my current EDC with a Glock 26 MOS Gen 5 and have been running it with the Holosun SCS. I shoot it better than my STI 2011 believe it or not. The plate rack doesn't stand a chance against the little beast. Until Glock up and goes out of business, I think I'm going to continue running Glock for the foreseeable future. Nothing against other guns, I have too many already and not enough ammo.

      I own a 2020 era Blue Label Glock 26 9mm gen 5. I added a few upgrades, changes. Glock Store recoil guide rod, slide lock. Lone Wolf 🐺 extractor, True Precision PVD-TiN barrel, Tango Down mag release, Milspin US flag-black back plate.
