  • Bonsai Life Stories by Little Jade Bonsai. This is an upright straight trunk tree I've been training for 5 years. It's one of those trees that you're kind of not sure what to do with. Naturally, some people would try and bend the trunk to give it some movement but personally with this tree, I thought why not just let the tree tell me how it wants to grow. So basically I just trimmed back new grow to allow back budding which helped the trunk swell. A few of the branches started to droop so I wired some back up. Enjoy!

    Nice to see the progression of a tree over the years. It shows how much you can expect to achieve each year. What zone are you growing your trees in?

    Do the roots naturally come up around the trunk base like the ones in this progression video or are you uncovering them for design?

    • @LittleJadeBonsai
      @LittleJadeBonsai  3 роки тому +2

      The roots naturally flare out on portulacaria afra (unlike the true jade; crassula). I slowly removed the soil around the surface of the roots to expose the nebari.

    I have a jade plant but the trunk is thin. Should I let it grow wild to thicken it up quick or keep it short just like yours ?

    • @LittleJadeBonsai
      @LittleJadeBonsai  3 роки тому +2

      You can increase the truck thickness by both methods.
