6:40 Roxanne’s ability to make the tokens add double mana is a triggered ability, getting doubled by Annie Joins Up. It’s a very fun interaction that I’ve missed for similar cards (Echoes of Eternity and Forsaken Monument)
Which doesn't make sense because of this: "605.1b A triggered ability is a mana ability if it meets all of the following criteria: it doesn’t require a target (see rule 115.6), it triggers from the resolution of an activated mana ability (see rule 605.1a) or from mana being added to a player’s mana pool, and it could add mana to a player’s mana pool when it resolves." So I think Roxanne's last ability should be an uncopiable mana ability.
i was gonna say like wtf. i see saffronolive do this multiple times, he uses cards that he doesn't even read. in multiple videos he asked: "why would they not attack the eternal wanderer with more creatures?" the first line of the text box reads: "No more than one creature can attack The Eternal Wanderer each combat."
@yannishoermann1939 nothing about Annie joins up says it can't copy mana abilities, and nothing about mana abilities says they can't be copied. It just means that the abilities don't go on the stack because they are mana abilities.
@yannishoermann1939 all of that is correct. Usually, cards specify if they can't copy mana abilities because being uncopiable isn't a feature of mana abilities themselves. Annie Joins just doesn't.
7:11 Roxanne’s mana ability is a triggered ability, so Annie Joins Up causes it to trigger twice, making your meteorites tap for three mana. The notable thing is that Roxanne’s ability is adding mana, not giving the meteorites the ability to add additional mana
i dont know why you say that, they had already drawn their starting 7 plus 5 more cards by the time they even had enough lands on the battlefield to cast the first deadly coverup. by the time they cast the fourth one, they had drawn 7 plus 14 cards altogether. is that so wild?
Annie joins up is an amazing card. I play it in ratadrabik, pia nalaar, and naya legends decks obviously with hezoret and the like. Also works incredibly well with that one card that creates the meteorites i forget the name.
@@OnePointSafety They did attack with bat into Lumra earlier in the match, not even for pushing damage really unless they were trying to bait him into not blocking Preacher, so I think they are unfamiliar with the card.
Totally unrelated to this video but I need to get this out of my system. Seth (better know as Saffron Olive) does look quite a bit like Danny Kiranos (better known as Amigo the Devil). Seth has worn an Amigo the Devil shirt at least once in past videos and now they are melded together in my brain cannon. Now every time I listen to "Murder at the Bingo Hall", I cant help but imagine Seth.
Muerra can also be insane in a raccoon themed deck. Raccoons already have plenty of ramp in itself with Wandertale Mentor (self pumping, gets even bigger with roaming), Brazen Collector (first strike, produces more mana with roaming), and Bramble Familiar (fetch quest, or discarding to stall an attacking creature, sadly no benefit from roaming other than ward triggers). So it's not like you lose out on mana early game by only playing raccoons. But if you have just Muerra, that's 1 mana. If you have Muerra + 1 Roaming Throne, that's 4 mana. If you have Muerra + 2 Roaming Thrones, that's 9 mana. That's without additional raccoons on the board. With just one other raccoon that becomes 2, 6, and 12 respectively. It becomes pretty resistant to targeted removal too when you also include innkeepers. As the Roaming Thrones will make ward trigger additional times, too. The amount of times I got opponents with that when they didn't have enough mana to pay for like, 2-6 ward 1s. Other raccoons that benefit are: Brambleguard Veteran gets extra teamwide buff from roaming, adds vigilance Teapot Slinger burns your opponent even more Scrapshooter can destroy multiple artifacts or enchantments by only gifting one card. (haven't tested this, but my understanding of the rules is that when something is copied, it doesn't repeat costs, but repeats effects from costs)
14:45 you should've cracked the fabled passage in response to get another elf or elemental beforenissa died. at the very least you would've gotten another nissa and drawn another card.
The meteorites tap for one, but Roxanne triggers adding one additional. With Annie Joins Up Roxanne triggers an additional time, adding a third mana. So each one taps for 3 with Roxanne and Annie Joins Up
Holy crap this looks like an actual deck with niche cards, all of which I like, this could be really good Edit: Like for real, Hugs, where else could you play and support him?
Against mice, you really need your removals to be 2 for 1s. Holding Helix to counter a pump spell puts them down a card in hand. There's a possibility of taking more damage from an extra Rage effect, but if they hold mana open, over many turns, they aren't comboing you. You also missed playing a Ruby for free G1, which would have given you more outs
Was going to say this if no one else did, typically the only spells that can pump toughness in these decks are either Monstrous Rage, which is only plus 1, or Dreadmaws Ire, which is plus 2 but only when attacking. Basically you want to remove in response to pump spells normally if possible. I say this having made it to mythic with a mono red aggro deck, the timing of when you use Shock or Lighting Strike can be incredibly important, especially in mirror matches. No clue wtf they were doing with fabled passage and mirrex in a mono red deck tho, that’s just… Odd
I think this is a little different if you have a high amount of removal and sweepers (ie you can try to keep them off creatures entirely), but in a deck like this with a high amount of creatures, you're much more likely to only have one or two removal in hand at a time, so you have to make it count like you said.
I think that it might be worth it to go over 60 cards in this deck and add in a few more basic lands for fabled passage to grab after Lumra brings them back.
It’s wild how Seth faces “one of the best decks in x-mode” in every single one of his videos. I’m starting to think every deck in the game is “one of the best decks” haha
@@jonarbuckle320 The one where he repeatedly holds off on getting it down because he wants to use the damage portion as removal? The deck is built around doubling triggers, but he doesn't use it to double triggers. He uses it as a 4 mana sorcery speed removal spell.
@@richards.2073 because it is a four mana sorcery speed removal spell lol, if you don't have good triggers to double on the board, why would you waste the etb of the card when you can snipe a sheoldred with it?
