- The PROBLEM with mobile emulators… and how to fix it! 👀😈
As you probably know, Apple FINALLY allowed emulators on the App Store this past week and while this is an amazing way to experience your favorite retro titles on the go, the experience isn’t ALWAYS perfect.
Using something like a Backbone controller or even a Bluetooth console controller paired with the iPhone is a MUCH better experience and I definitely recommend trying it out.
If this tip was helpful, share it to someone else who might benefit from it! 🙏🏼❤️

Apple Users Experiencing the flaws of phone emulation for the first time. Fascinating.
It's like looking back in time
no man we could play emus before. we had altstore so we could install IPAs and with it, retro emulators
Nah I’ve used them before, was just a pain to sideload them
@@WalterMan yeah fr and to refresh them every week
Real Apple users have had emulators since the original iPod video days, we had no problems when we evolved to touchscreen back then.
Sure the ipod video may have had buttons but it was still wonky, touching and pressing did two different things, so having touch screen buttons back in the day was a godsend.
Apple: we got emulators
Android: 😐
Android has had emulators for 12 years at least at this point. And they work a lot better in Android. What's your point?
@@bobleesniperhe's mocking apple I'm sure
Android: we had emulators first
Every other platform before Android: 😂😂😂😂
when I see a new feature drop I am never thinking about the other platform. These are just phones homie
do people still argue about which is better? I own both and I really enjoy both OS in their own way. although I do have to say, now that I can emulate on my iphone, I have no need for a samsung. lol
iPhone users discovering the experience of playing with touch controls in 2024 is a funny reaction
iphone users acting like they finally got another one up on Android is hilarious to me
Wait they cant play with touch controls before?
I've been emulating older pokemon games at 60 fps since 2017
On Android.
For real, especially since we’ve had touch based emulators since before Android even came out.
But it is what it is, all that matters is gamers being able to play what they want, on what they want, with who they want.
It’s so alien to me that people are treating this as a new thing
Well some ppl just ddnt know, can’t really be mad
Having it first party is exciting because it is less sleezy and introduces it to people who were not willing to go through the trouble of jailbreaking their iPhone
For apple users it is but yeah shit Ive been doing this on Android for at least 10 years
@@golden-sun yesss we KNOWWW

Correct me if I'm wrong but I distinctly remember Delta having haptic touch feedback for buttons, which isn't the same as pressing a real button but it does an decent job
It’s still there and can be quite strong depending on your device.
Okay for some games, but good luck getting proper haptics for an analog stick.
@@blisphul8084it’s there when the stick reaches full extension you feel it.

One less reason to get an Android now
@@Jessecwebb Out of several
And emulators were on iPhone since before Android even came out
It’s hilarious really, but at least reality is finally conforming to my view of how things should be. Gamers should be allowed to play what they want on what they want with who they want.
@@TheGreyShaman No they haven't, not without jailbreaking.
@@companionsytoriginal873iOs had sone emulators before android was thing but you had to side load as apple didn't allow such apps in their store
Interesting fact- Android emulators are so advanced, you can use a PSVits emulator to emulate a PSP to emulate an NES and still have a great experience. Let us give an applause to Apple for barely emulating a GBA without JIT, which means bad DS performance on older iPhones.
3Ds*
It comes down to an issue with Apple devices being based on ARM architecture. That’s why you can’t do very good GameCube stuff yet on iOS, Apple isnt allowing the proper JIT conversion yet
An iPhone 6 can run a DS game at full speed without JIT. An iPhone 11 can run a DS game at full speed without JIT and a 3ds game at full speed with JIT. A 15 pro can run a 3ds game at full speed without JIT.
If Apple allows JIT in the app store, you will get better performance on iOS devices for emulators compared to their android counterparts.
iOS devs have been working on emulators since 2014. That explains why these emulators released so fast. It's just Apple stopping them with all these restrictions. iOS devs are already working on Switch Emulation.
@@WillBowersyou can very well emulate Wii on iOS. Just not installing via the AppStore. Been playing Mario galaxy at 3x res on 15 pm on DolphiniOS. Jit is the issue entirely, Apple not allowing jit on distribution certificates (AppStore/Testflight apps) is annoying. It’s only allowed in developer certificates which is for when using Xcode or tools like altstore/sidestore.
@@saiefjoy2906switch emulation is already been out. Look at folium x Sudachi. It’s just hard to run since iOS devices have less ram. My 15 pm was able to run odyssey pretty well though had some issues since it’s still new.
Wait what? Playing games not meant to be played with touchscreens on a touchscreen sucks? I'm glad so glad people on apple phones figured this out for the rest of us

It's like watching baby's first mobile emulation. I remember those days, welcome to emulation apple users. It took over a decade but you're finally here. Godspeed.
Took us long enough
apple users are like cave men of emulation rn
You say that like none of us have emulated before on android pc ect obviously there’s gonna be people only just being introduced now same as there are people on android just realizing they can emulate on their phones it’s no so cut and dry not every android user has emulated for years and not every apple user is new to emulation this stereotyping BS is fkn m0ronic
Why do I always see so many angry android users on iPhone videos? It's pathetic
Android users of course strike when something good happens to some other communities that have an A letter and is not android
Dude androids were able to do this since years. I've been playing the Playstation exclusive gran turismo on my Android since 7 years. Apart from PSP, gameboy and DS, we can also emulate Playstation 2 games
I have been in both also. iOS had emulation before AppStore just wasn’t as easy. Using tools nowadays like SideStore or altstore does add a hindrance but is still more nice than jailbreaking on an older iOS to install play the ps2 emulator or DolphiniOS for gcn/wii. I like how on android it was open much earlier, I’m not fan of its interface atleast back then but has gotten much better. I honestly don’t care about the phone wars. Just use what you prefer at this point. It has more things it can do than just emulation after all.
ios has had it for years as well. just not officially.
also honestly every android emulator i tried has been a terrible experience compared to delta.

As someone who used this emulator before it was on the AppStore, controllers are the way to go!
The Backbone broke my iPhone 13 pro for three days straight. I believe it was because the port input was connected into my phone crooked, causing some sort of overheating on my battery or something like that. Just be careful with it.
I just use my ps4 controller tbh
That... Doesn't make a lot of sense, phones have a lot of protection so any possible overcharge is filtered out or stopped before entering the battery.
And the thing is powered by your own phone's battery, the thing probably was about to broke and you just had the luck to be playing with the backbone when it happened.
Believe me, something like that would probably kill your board before your battery.
@@break-beat-sonic Lol bro, you didn’t even read the comment completely. I said that is was probably from getting jammed into the charging port because it was crooked.

The BackBone controller costs $100, which is expensive, but so far I love mine. They come in both Xbox and PlayStation style, along with Lightning and USB. They also recently released the second gen model that allows the phone to be used with a case on, so your phone no longer has to go gaming bareback.
I don't have an iphone but still watched it.... figuring out why😂😂
I only game like twice a year yet this is still so cool I kind of want a controller like that

Guys can connect a notmal Bluetooth controller like a ps4 one to iphones so dont go dropping that much on a backbone or dedicated controller
Damn, it's almost like touch controls have been an issue for a while that there's many companies trying to capitalize on the phone controller market. I have iPhone controller from even before the had emulators. There's multiple games that allowed for controller support.
Thankfully these game boy emulators can help me play game boy games on the go!
It’s incredible
Groundbreaking innovation. The world and the way that humans interact with it has been forever changed.
Android could never 😂
(Yes this is a joke post)
i love how android users have been complaining about this for YEARS, and apple users are just now understanding what we mean
I just so happened to have had those Razor phone controller adapters. Whenever I heard the emulator was dropping and I downloaded it, it’s actually really comfortable and enjoyable and easy to customize my buttons

android has been able to emulate games for as long as i can remember. now that iphones can finally do this apparently its literally history in the making.
@@dgblg95Nothing you said is even remotely true
There are android phones which are WAY more powerful and much more expensive than Apple's overpriced grabage. It's not a new thing either - it's been like that for years. Are you really this uneducated?
It's so annoying. So what if android can emulate better. The point of this video is that iOS can do it now.
Ay! The backbone works, this is great, I got one for my birthday in April.
Great song choice, most dope
I will say, one of the examples that he showed was ocarina of time(one of my favorite games, and I’m very glad to play it on my phone), and while this game and many others requires precise inputs at some points, I was able to complete it with very little to no trouble just recently. I understand that some people may struggle with this, but it is definitely not as big an issue as some people have made it out to be.
I think this guy is a genius in picking his introductions. They are very silly and then the content is great. The contrast makes me want to see what will he say in the next video’s introduction. Pls god let it be intentional.
Now iphone become android in 2012
Delta and Backbone combo has changed my life
The 8Bitdo Pro 2 is what I have been using so far and it's perfect for any emulation device. About a month in and the buttons and triggers are great, plus it's only 50 buckeroos on Amazon, so I'd recommend that. Touch controls for a retro game is just really harsh.
I remember when I had this issue on android 15 years ago. Time flies. 😂😂😂
Glad to know that there will still be a market for handheld consoles
whenever i played games on the psp emulator (PPSSPP) i used my PS4's controller and it improved the game ALOT, i remember trying to play Soul Calibur Broken Destiny without it and it was not good at all, as soon as i connect the controller I start having fun.
I remember having to sideload and jailbreak my Iphone to get delta emulator.
And now it is available on the app store…
Brings tears 😭 to my eyes.
You could always download emulators on iPhone but they were just never in the App Store you had to go on a emulator site to download them. I remember downloading an emulator to play pokemon emerald on my iPhone 6s in high school
I was indeed living under a rock, I came back to this awesome news
You can also connect your controller with usb c
connecting a controller and having a mobile controller grip is the best with it it changes everything
I use my Switch Pro controller with emulators. It works really well. I honestly hate the feel of a touchscreen, and having an actual controller is a game changer.
You can also connect a Bluetooth keyboard and map key’s as you want ,any keyboard will work even wired ones can be used
We're just going to have to hope that Nintendo doesn't file a lawsuit against them I would also like to hide the buttons if I can putting this in a gaming emulator would literally be sick
If you have a wireless controller and you rebind the buttons, especially on the delta emulator, especially on titles like legend of Zelda ocarina of time as an example(cause it’s not designed to be played on modern controllers, so you kinda have to rebind to have the best experience)is a joy to play on a ps4/ps5/Xbox controller.
If you also happen to have an Apple TV it’s incredible. Just mirror to the Apple TV and play ocarina of time or any game you have on tv. Works wonders
A bigger problem is not being able to play games using the full screen of either the iPhone or the iPad. you can get haptic feedback on the iPhone. through settings
I’ve been using Delta to play DS Tetris and it’s awesome
Is it just me or does the DS and N64 games make your phone kinda hot? I have the iPhone 15 pro max and feel like those games shouldn’t be taking such a huge toll on the hardware.
Just downloaded delta yesterday and I was like “ no way my Pro controller will work right?”I’ve been playing Mario kart 64 and Pokemon stadium for hours
BSP-D3 is a cheaper telescopic and works with Bluetooth, it has less features but works exactly like you wanted
I’ve been playing through Goldeneye (both the N64 and DS versions) on delta emulator with a Series X controller and it works great. Same for Pokémon.
Thats hilarious, i thought you were gonna talk about an emulation problem unique for the iphone. Instead its complaining about the well known basic problems with phone emulation, because iphone is just now getting it which makes it a whole new concept for a lot of people. Hilarious, and fascinating.
As you said, controller accessories are good for this
I just connect a old regular ps4 controller to my phone Bluetooth and it works phenomenal 😊
I was playing emulators back in windows 98 days. Crazy to see a whole new generation play emulators on an iPhone. I thought y'all had that 10 years ago.
I play delta with a controller, but I like having virtual buttons Incase I don’t have a controller with me
My guy I think the rock was over you this entire time
OMG THANK YOU SO MUCH
I do not use many Apple products, but this is certainly a good illustration of why Bluetooth controllers (or anything NOT vendor/console locked) are going to be very important for most near-future users of electronic devices generally.
I've been doing this forever. It's one of the main reasons I chose Android over Apple
i gasped when you said iphone and emulator in the same sentence. i used to play when i had an android but its been years now. tnx for that
While Touch Feedback is important, the main gripe I have with Delta is that there is no customization option for any console. Yeah you can change the skin of the UI, but on Android i have full customization of screen sizes, graphical options, filters and etc. The emulation on iOS still has a long way to go.
my problem is the lack of JIT compiler for iOS devices, which would help in spreading emulators on it a lot, because most of modern emulators use it
Yeah I realized that too and I hope they gonna fix that
you can also connect joycons to your iphone, and Delta allows custom button mapping
This video pretty much shows why I don't emulate on my phone. If I am to use a controller anyways, might just do it on my PC on a bigger screen.
I’ve been playing Zelda Majora’s Mask. Memories!
I remember i was force to use iphone 7 plus and emulator was a pain in the ass to use you have to like reinstall every a week just to play again and don't even get me started on the overheat problem i remember running ps1 on the phone it was fine about 30 mins but after the overheat the game speed start to drop like to 37% speed, but after that i bagging my dad to change to android again it was amazing and around that time window emulator start to pop up i instantly play fallout 3 it was a blast what a good day at that time
Hi your phonecase looks very cool from where did you get it?
The switch pro controller synced to my iPad no prob, had issues with that before. That was the only real thing holding me back from using free gamepass cards too.
THE NEW FACES BEAT HITS IN MY SOUL
iPhones here emulating N64, GBA meanwhile Androids here emulating Windows 10 💀💀
The diablo instrumental in the back tho 🤝
I got a cheap phone grip controller like that from Aliexpress and it works very well with the emulator. It just needs to be put in MFI mode which makes it show up as a PlayStation controller funny enough. :)
Damn it's on the app store now? I remember like 9 years ago, i was searching on how to download a gameboy emulator for the WHOLE day cuz apple didnt have emulators in the app store back then. Finally after a while, i found out that there is actually an emulator for IOS and you have to download it in safari, which is pretty crazy to me since you weren't able to download apps from websites like you can with android. And so i download it and it works like a charm 😊
I was using an iphone 5 btw.
You could run emulators before with AltStore but having them on the official App Store is a lot more convenient.
I hated the thought of emulators when I was on Android and I still hate thought of emulators when I’m iOS. I tried emulators on PC and hated it too. I don’t see the hype for it but to each their own.

I like how this is now a thing for apple. I have an android and remember complaining about the buttons in emulators back in 2011.

pro tip: any Bluetooth controller (ps5, xb) tends to work quite well w ios/macos =]
I personally use an iPad Pro, PS5 controller, & Shadow subscription to play AAA games in all-ultra settings on the go - love it, zero to very very low latency on my home network and 5G UWB connections.
I literally just sold my backbone controller because I was never gonna use it….. now I need it again
Crazy that emulating Gameboy was easier 15 years ago when I was in high school.
Forgot to mention that you can also utilize screen mirroring on a TV that supports it or Apple TV and then play it like a regular console
Didn't know I live under a rock 👀
I was so excited to play ocarina of time for the first time but realized how hard it was to control smoothly. I looked up if I could connect my Xbox controller to my phone and to my surprise I could. I was so excited and have been loving the game.
I bought the PlayStation Backbone controller specifically for this occasion and for the likelihood of PS1 and PSP emulation coming with Provenance for PS1 and PPSSPP (whatever it’s called) for PSP.
