To resist lateral loads caused by wind and seismic, coupling or spandrel beam in shear walls should take into considerations. Check out this video on how to design it.

Sure. We will consider that in our future videos, in the meantime, check out our available online course for the same: www.thestructuralworld.com/course/

Where can I find the conditions and demonstration of this beam in the British or American codes

    One question
What will happen if there is no spandrel beam?!

The main purpose of the coupling/spandrel beam is to resist lateral forces caused by wind and seismic. Not considering the spandrel beam will tend the shearwall to carry the additional lateral loads that will result in a higher number of flexural and shear reinforcement required.
