Watching this on the 6th, so I hope you coped with having your mammogram. I live in Scotland, and through the NHS, I went through two decades of annual checks, until I reached 50 (5 years ago 🫣). Now I only have to go once every three years. As I always find it’s painful, I’m just glad I don’t have to hand over money to go through it! Sorry, I’m a little scatterbrained today. Watching you whilst tucked up in bed at 11.20pm. Loving your chatty nature more today than I usually do. Butterfly pea flower tea from northeast Thailand. I love this tea. You add lemon or acid or soy you can get all types of color shift in your drinks very pretty. Look it up on YT University lol right up on in this magical world. Lol you can use it to dye papers and fabric too. I bought mine on Amazon.
Oh my goodness! I have the exact same Regina’s palette and I love her paints! I actually bought another empty palette from her to stick some of my other paints as well since it’s so nice to use and small/easy to store. I hope you’ve been enjoying them. Thanks for the discound on the classes L!!! I am going to go look but I am crazy busy and very broke right now. I use a "paint puck" that is sold for 2$ for cleaing makeup brushes that you suction to the bottom of a cup or container. It works great and I got it from a cheap website. Thanks for the headsup on the end of the open stock Prismacolor Col-Erase. I like them but i also use other less expsenive erasable pencils. What a lovely watercolor sketch! I Might have to try this one!

Soooo pretty. I have these paints too. They're super vibrant and pretty. I ended up using glue dots to keep the pans in place. I'll be attempting this painting this weekend. Thanks for the tutorial!

I just recently got my first pair of Transition lenses. I also have astigmatism in one eye. The new transition lenses are fabulous. It took me all of a couple hours to adjust to them. Most practitioners have a 30 day return policy for transition lenses.
That looks like that tea made with a blue flower, and it changes colors when you add lemon juice.
The drink looks like an Empress Gin & Tonic. Empress Gin is Blue & turns Violet when you add tonic to it!!! (I am pretty sure - I am not a gin drinker - I bought it as a gift for a friend). But Empress Gin is very pretty!!! 💜💜💜💙💙💙

I wonder how she turns the liquid Hydrus into pan watercolor? Very interesting. The colors look clean and bright and the palette is awesome. I need more paint like I need a hole in the head but I can definitely look into an empty palette. The mixing surface Looks wonderful! She calls them color smears. I really like that.

I've wore glasses almost all my life. At age 4 I was told I had flat lenses and astigmatism in both eyes. Meaning I could not ever wear contacts. Which sucked. At 41 I was told my eyes self corrected and didn't need glasses anymore. Which was great. Then I hit 50. Then I was told I needed bifocals. Which I was hard headed and I refused. I got two pair. One for distance. One for close up. Then I ended up flying the frames stacked upon each other. Because it was easier for me than bifocals. Now, I've requested to line bifocals. Because, if you can't beat them, join them. Yay!

The progressives are very easy to adjust to. I have them and it only took about a week to know where to look through the lenses. You wil have to learn where to look through the lenses depending on what you are looking at through the bifocals as well. Very easy. The hardest adjustment is learning to turn your head instead of moving your eyes when looking at things. That doesn’t take long either. I will wait till the 10th to officially wish you happy birthday, but my daughter turned 46 on the 5th🙂

I have a field set with w&n pro paints. Love it. I love schmincke but I realized I like it for the name and the luxury more than performance. Their yellows are not very lightfast, and all of their paints have big drying shift. I'm not sure why. And I necer use sepia, but watching your video this sepia seem very brown, I think it might be useful. I find I prefere w&n for croatian historical architecture. We have all those bright red oramge roof tiles and I love the combo of cad red light and burnt sienna for it.
That lavender lemonade looks refreshing.

Please DO NOT cancel your mammogram appt. I missed one year. The following year I had a mastectomy. I’m 7 years out and doing well. Even during Covid I didn’t miss my mammogram appointments.

I've always liked this palette design - I bought something similar on Amazon, I have two of them now. I like how flat they are, they fit really easily in a bag, only adds a little more bulk than just a sketchbook.

Lindsey, I have health anxiety. I don't find things wrong with my body to worry about, I hate having any testing done. Waiting for results is agony for me so I will put off my yearly exams. I'm due this month for my mammo. You get yours done and I will schedule mine and we will be all good for another year! This test is too important to skip as anything found is much more treatable if detected early.
Im going tomorrow so you better too! (Misery loves company you know!)
So 2 things… one, im gonna ask you on sat chat if you got ur mammogram done and two im at the point where you are gonna add a background and im yelling no, dont do it lol. I’ll let u know what I think when I reach the end haha
Edit: ok so u were right, of course lol. The background really made it pop off the page even more. I will say the blue gouache seemed too harsh so i was glad to see you add overtop, that made a big difference. The dark hole in the lemon really made it perfect

I’ve had a couple of mammograms and they’re honestly not as terrifying as I thought they’d be. Kind of uncomfortable but nothing major, and it was done pretty quick. All the best with it! 😊

Hi. I wish you the bestest of luck with the Lady Smoosher. I pray the results are normal and you can carry on being a Sass Queen. I loved this painting. The air in my part of the States is annoying me. I can't keep the paper wet to create a decent flow. I've used tricks but I'm now having a brain toot. Its the paper and the sizing used. Duh on me! @@thefrugalcrafter thank you. And, BTW, progressives changed my life. I love, love them. I put them on and never took them off again. My distance was very minimal but it let me go through the day without having to look up reading glasses. And in the car, for the first time, signs were a bit more crisp and looking down I could read the speedometer. Just awesome.

I didn't know that white gelly roll pens tend to dry up with a certain amount of time. I thought i had bad luck. Your advice, to have only one gelly roll going at a time, will keep me from wasting any more.

My insurance covers the mammogram but if they call you back for a better look you can pay thousands! I swear they have a quota to meet. I do not trust our healthcare industry.

I do enjoy watching your mixed media approach, I remember all of the pre-planning a painting like this used to take when I was being taught, since I was not allowed to use gouache or any opaque white paints in my watercolor paintings! Glad you were able to relax with the painting and your viewers. Attitudes are much more relaxed and I remember when mixed media was held to a sub standard or held in lesser esteem. oh I knew these watercolors looked familiar! artist I watch sometimes, Emily Artful has been using them for years and absolutely swears by them, but they are a little too out of my price range at this time :( not participating in world watercolor month this year, cause I'm taking a graphic design class and Illustrator is kicking my butt so much, I have no energy left for anything else :( worth it? sure hope so.
P.S. I've been using the upper sleeve of the pain puck with one of the talenti ice cream jars I use as my water containers and I LOVE it.
Education is always worth it if you complete the training and apply it:)

On the health bits - some folks say they stopped going to the doctors or getting bloodwork "because it's always bad news" .... to them I'd say just because you don't know your health stats doesn't mean they're good?! Sigh. I hope the health bits all come out well.

I wondered if the Schmincke pan paints are different so they dry faster or something.
Sepia paint is a cool neutral and easy to mix with other colors. Maybe they add it because Germany is cool and cloudy? Lol

Besides the watercolor pencils I mentioned that I think would be good for this one, I just bought the 12 color set of Dr PH Martin’s India Ink that I understand is “lightfast,” but I know lightfast claims not backed up by pigment info can be questionable, or sometimes even when it is, can be questionable, but we’ll see. 😁👍
The pigment in the hydrus set one look good to me. I think they were formulated with versatility for airbrush and pens so no coarse pigments are used but they are lightfast. Mostly synthetic organics.

I wanted to take advantage of your discounted classes again. I did buy a couple of classes somewhen - I am losing my episodic memory - but I can't find them in my PC. I've always been hopeless with digital files and folders. Did you have a sale sometime other than the birthday sale? Aargh, hanging head in shame.
All you need todo is log into my school and all of your purchased classes are right there waiting for you. No need to store then on your computer:)
Interesting paints , seems big drying shift unless you go dark right off the bat. Look fun though. I love the colors . I think I would have stopped at blotting the ice. But I'm not very detailed oriented. Pffft. I can't get the glass symmetrical. 😫 🤭
Turn the painting upside down and its easier to correct.

My eye doctor told me 46 is the magic number for bifocals. That most people get them for the first time at 46, myself included 😭 anyway….. that drink looks so beautiful and refreshing! I almost bought these watercolors when researching some buying a set for galaxies. I wanted something non granulating and vivid. And if I remember correctly Regina’s are made with dyes, not pigments. I’m open to suggestions if you have any brands that come to mind….. and of course if you feel like sharing.
They are pigment based. They use the hydrus liquid watercolors for pigments which are one of the only pigment based liquid watercolor.

Ladies - please get an annual mammo. Cancer runs in my family so I demanded mammos starting at 35 years old. While doing a monthly self exam I felt a lump and waited too long to get a mid-year mammo and the lump had already burst thru the duct. I had to get a lumpectomy (in breast & arm pit) and get chemo & radiation when, maybe, I would have only needed a needle biopsy & radiation. 😕
This October will be 3 years cancer free.
Lindsay, I would love to sign up for one if your watercolor classes. But, I'm truly a beginner, so having said that, which class would you personally recommend.
The loose watercolor flowers (I love flowers) or the Landscape watercolor?
For an absolute beginner I would recommend Essential Tools and Techniques for Watercolor but if you just want to jump in and paint flowers the watercolor flower workshop is totally doable. I'd say you could jump into the landscape one as well.
