I absolutely LOVE white nights watercolors. They are my favorite even over Daniel Smith and m Graham. I purchased 14 colors open stock directly from Russia off of Ebay for 1.99 per pan and flat rate shipping. My favorite colors are the violet rose and the quin rose both are just absolutely gorgeous.
Oh hey! I was right! Those ARE white nights watercolors! Haha. Those ridiculously oversized pans were one of my favorite things in my review.....and the palette itself was ALSO one of the least favorite parts of mine as well. =>.
Oh. ps. In regards to every opera pink, which is one of my favorite colors, they’re suuuuuuper fugitive and will fade within a couple of months. So if you’re planning on selling any original pieces, don’t use it! I’m working on finding a good alternative and will post a vid of my discoveries when I make them!
Oh yes you were right! I just finished your review - you definitely had way more professional information than I ever could hahaha! I know, if only they fixed those dang palettes . . . and oh yes I know Opera pink is fugitive . . . it's just SO PRETTY! I can't NOT have it in my palette! Thank goodness I'm not doing originals right now hahahaha! I'll keep an eye out for that vid! ;)
I love the White Nights paints! They are so pigmented and lovely and cheap. I live in Finland and these babies are sold in open stock in almost every art-, craft- and bookshop in the country. :) I've replaced all the cadmiums with more transparent colours, not because of the toxicity, I just favour transparent colours. Like you am not a fan of the palette, but I already have more than 50+ WN colurs in my collection and simply I have to store them somewhere, so in the moment I have the plastic giant and a metal 24 palette. They only have 12 tube colours, which are dirt cheap. Thanks for the review, love your illustration!
dryad Thanks so much for your comment, it was super interesting to read about your experience too! I'm glad you love them just as much as me, and I'm glad you enjoyed!!! 💖
I have been so inspired by your art style and how amazing your watercolor art is that I am planning to get watercolor pencils and/or just a watercolor pallet (with colors of course!) for my birthday because I'm poor lol. I am just hoping you make a video were you show all your Materials; Pencils, Pallets, Colors, Brushes, etc. ' Can't wait for your new sketchbook tour!
You mentioned that the colours will stain the palette and you're right, I have the same palette and the blue stained it a lot. I clean it with toothpaste and an old tooth brush and the palette is good as new afterwards! So don't be afraid of getting it dirty.
Dude you REALLY need more subscribers. Like you deserve to be in the top artists like kasey and jazza I love your art and I love your style you're so awesome
I really love this drawing! The color scheme you chose is so lovely, and muted and colorful at the same time. If that makes sense? It's just really nice 🌻And sitting on the floor with a hot drink surrounded by stacks of books is just my aesthetic Really glad I found your channel!
Loved this!!!!!! You are not awkward just amazing! Really loved the speed painting at the end. Can you make videos abut how you make shadows with watercolor? I saw your painting on the left and competely loved it!!!
Saw a Russian watercolor) I Honestly do not think that abroad use it) You are great painters! Keep up the good work! (Sorry if there are errors... I'm not fluent in English yet.)
Is the Voronezhskaya black dark enough? I have seen some swatches where it seemed really weak. I am looking for a sepia like colour and I am interested in it is it is a single pigment colour unlike their Sepia. Which one would you recommend (Voronezhskaya black or Sepia)? Thank you!
Oh this is perfect. My birthday is in a week so I might get some money and I was planning on starting out with watercolours but I don't have any and don't really know any either. Thanks for the informative video
The only personal experience I've had with White Nights are two full pans that used to belong to my Mom and it wasn't a great one. They were really hard to activate and generally too waxy for my taste. I assumed that was normal for them, but this video made me reconsider. Although if they do end up waxy after long periods of not using and other brands don't (the other pans I got were Lukas and they worked perfectly) it might still influence my opinion away from them haha
I just bought a 24 pan set as well, but from AliExpress! Kicked in a few coupons and got them for $45. I dreamed of getting a Holbein set of tube watercolor, but even if they are cheaper comparatively (a 5ml tube 24colors costs something like $30-$35ish in Amazon), I can't afford to get from Amazon since the shipping to Brazil is absurd (the white nights I got from AliExpress is free shipping...) Now, someone say that since Holbein has a lack of ox gall, it makes the watercolor a little easier to control in wet-to-wet technique, it doesn't spread, it makes the paint "too perfect" and sort of takes out the magic of unpredictable watercolours (the person's words). Do you feel it is the same thing with white nights or does it behave more like European watercolor? And granulation?
Maddy Torta De Climão I'm not very familiar with wet into wet techniques (which is why I didn't use them in the video) but i did a test for you, and I found that whilst both paints bloom pretty nicely the White Nights is certainly a lot more 'free flowing' compared to Holbein. As far as granulation goes, I've found MOST of Holbein's paints don't really granulated, then again most of the White Nights don't either. The Ultramarine Deep in Holbein's granulates a little, and I found that the Sepia in White Knights granulates a lot. Like I said, I don't have a lot of experience with either wet on wet techniques or granulating colours (I tend to avoid them and opt for a smooth finish) but I hope i helped at least a little! 💖
Magenta Mayhem aaaah thank you a lot for your trouble to go and test them, you're so sweet ♥️ I'm very much into urban sketching and while I know the white nights pallette isn't very practical, I want to pop out a few pans and make a field test one day. I'm more used with student grade paints and I feel myself frustrated sometimes with how much scrubbing I must do with my brush to pick up the pigment. Thank you again very much for the test! I will probably get a Holbein 36 color set in the distant future because of those sweet sweet other colours...
In india there is also a artist brand watercolour...nd they r so cheap that uh can buy 5 to 6 tubes of 9ml which cost about only single tube of Daniel smith paint .. camlin is the brand and artist tubes r my bese experience....but still if uh want to donate any of ur old pallete which uh dont use so plz let me know.
I was watching your last video and I was like I think she’s Australian and then in this you said you were Australian in I shouted yes!! What part of Australia are you from I’m from Tasmania
daria, these run the same price as some student grade and are so much better! i'm no expert and i use a bunch of diff brands , from 5$ for 18 colors to 20$ a tube or full pan these rock
Lia gianopoulou Honestly I'd say they're EXTREMELY similar. I'm not a paint connoisseur so there could be differences I'm not picking up on, but the biggest difference is that these paints are a lot more inexpensive than Holbein. Still love them both though!

ahhhh yes another Australian youtuber :) omg watercolours are so expensive here aren't they , i bought one half pan and it was 17$
I have a question. How long did it take you to draw this?
You definatly need to make a video on you sketching the design you water color.
