thank you susana! i quite like this series as well but haven't been able to film more of these as i sort of need to be able to speak while filming (make noise) and it's been difficult to find that time as of late. but hopefully i can make more in the future. :)
If you can’t get it at Jackson’s try Artemiranda (Spain). I wanted to get some Rosa Gallery (which they have the entire catalog) and picked up a couple of White Nights pans and tubes that had been recommended to me. They were actually cheaper and faster than Jackson’s and shipped them to me in the US. I was very impressed by this company and have placed two follow up orders that were also faster and cheaper than Jackson’s. And the have Escoda brushes (another Spanish company) a lot cheaper than I can find them in the US. I love your channel - very informative. Thanks!
that's great Artemiranda works for you! sadly their shipping quotes to thailand are horrible so i'll still be still with jackson's. maybe one day they'll offer better options
Oooh this was fun! I also love the PBk11, I'm a Lunar Black fangirl but still didn't expect it to be THAT interesting! I also really like the PB28/teal - makes some nice dusty moody colors :)
I used to dislike muted color. But after I try Perylene Violet, i start to love it. With yellows and oranges, it can mix various browns. It also neutralizes blues very well. Now I can say goodbye to browns in my limited palette of 10. Fun fact: Bruce MacEvoy from Handprint said his spectrometer reads Perylene Violet as dark scarlet.
Perylene violet and PG7 is my favorite mixed black, the best way to get a really dark, really neutral black. You can do it with perylene green and diox violet but I tend to do this one more.
OMG! I was looking for a hue like that colour. Y’know, the one in the fourth row on the right 😂. PY3 + PV29 gives a very earthy/ochery muted yellow; I was looking for a hue like that. I might actually get PV29!
The PY3 + PV29 earthy/ochery colour is very similar to Schmincke's Rutile yellow PY53. These mixes make me think PV29 is a neutral agent or even an earth colour. I think PV29 in its masstone is the most flashy of all earth colours.
I came back to read the comments, to see if other`s White Night`s Pv29 also granulate.. Looks like 50-50! So, not all have that texture, although mine also has some kind of lunar black like granules.. Strange. I must say inconsistency is fun, sometimes)) Thank you, Vee ❤
Yay! Another addition to this series! The perylene colors make such beautiful moody mixes. Thank you for sharing! Also…that middle mixture with PB15, especially since your White Nights PV29 looks like it granulates…it almost looks like DS Sodalite. I wonder if that could be a dupe??
It makes a nice terracotta brown if mixed with an orange ;) I need to find my old WN pan to check the granulation. I only remember it being streaky and me not able to create a smooth wash with it. I wanted to get Schmincke instead, but still didn't bite the bullet.
I have White Nights watercolors. I purchased most of them kinda like color pencils. I skipped the mixes and fugitive colors. I started looking at Roman Szmal for refills when they became unavailable and found some more pigments I wanted, so now I have quite a few of them too. I don't usually buy the same pigment number more than once but have some in different hues. Also, brown is my favorite color.
The word you are searching for at the start of your video was Maroon. Your description ("brown-red-violet") was the definition of what here we call maroon. And your use of the designation Bordeaux was very okay too- I don't know why you rejected it out of hand. I know there is a Pelylene Maroon but this one is also close to maroon. (Maroon comes from the French word for chestmuts which they call Marrons- when first out of their husks they have a rich, deep, red-brown glow. And taste fabulous when roasted! But they are a bugger to peel.)
I love the colour mixes you made! I'm still wondering though if all Peryle Violet tubes from White Nights are granulating? Oto Kano's website lists it as non-granulating, and the few other swatches I found on YT seem to show no granulation either... I'd love to add this colour to my palette, but if White Nights' isn't granulating , I'd prefer buying another brand.
I do have the White Nights PV 29 and doesn't granulate, I made the same mixes you done but any of them granulated, actually the shades look so diferent, maybe because the screen.
I do remember using White Nights PV29 for the first time and finding it did have some grit. It was not full blown granulation but nevertheless the pigment had some texture.
I was wondering how white nights mix with other brands like winsor and newton, daniel smith or schminke etc? Or basically any brand that does not use honey in there paints? I heard they do not play or mix well with other non honey brands? Any weird separation or other undesirable effects that occur? Could you please help? Also do they mix well on there own? I really want to put in a order for some of there single pigment pans but im a bit hesitant due to the above issues or questions. Ik this is a old video but the venice purple looks gourgeous. I think paper quality may be a big facter here with white nights paint and how they perform. Could you share your thoughts on my concerns about them please. It would be extremely helpful. 🤍
hi, i remember you leaving a few comments in the past, hope you've been well :) don't worry about the honey. it doesn't affect mixing with other brands at all. honey-based brands like white nights, sennelier, and roman szmal all mix well with non-honey watercolours. if there are any colour separation, it will most likely be due to the granulation of an individual colour, not because of honey. yes, they mix well on their own. all in all, watercolours are fine to mix with one another across brands. honey or no honey, it doesn't matter at all. hope that helps.
My White Nights perylene violet pv29 doesn't granulate but it doesn't look like yours at all! Mine is almost actually purple, like in the pic your follower sent, is your more red or is it a light thing? I was thinking about getting Roman Szmal's Perylene violet pv29 but I'm not sure if I'll be disapointed again. Does yours look like hers in a different light?
almost every paint can be made granulating if you have a textured paper and use lots of water. pigments are always denser than water so they accumulate in the paper texture and this eventually causes granulation effect.
This color is not my cup of tea. I like it on its own but find just a few cases to use it. I like a few of the mixes with warm colours but the rest feel... Weird? They are difficult to describe...
My White Nights Perylene Violet doesn't granulate at all which is kind of disappointing 🥲 It's ok on its own, but l like it better when mixed with different blues to create these nice purples.
Fabuleuse recherche incroyable 💙💚🩵💜💜🩷🩷🩷
I love this mixed with indanthrene blue, PB60!
More proof that PG7 is the key to a happy life! I love this series of videos, Vee. Much to think about, much to enjoy.

@@monsoon_magic2874 Thanks! I never thought about PV29 like that.
The yellows created good Autumn colors.
ohhh yes tthey do! nice eye!

i still find it really strange! sorry the vid took so long, i kept pushing it back and at one point couldnt find my harddisk with the files LOL

Missed this again 🙄. Maybe I shouldn't go to work 😂
I love this color, I have it in Schmincke and Winsor & Newton. It's such a good shadow and undertone color for brown skin tones.
ohhh brown skintones! i didn't think about that~

white nights PV15 :D

Hi, I tried mine. And It doesn't granulate.
interesting! thanks for letting us know!

Cobalt Teal + PV29 = Cerulean + Indian Red or English Red
