  • In this video I get a tour round Ben and Jenya's almost Identical ex-amblulance to mine camper conversion.
They started life almost the same but now couldn't be more different.
It's great to see what can be done with the same blank canvas.

NEW!: I've opened an Amazon store! It has all the items I've used to build the van, accessories I have or rate, tools, electrical items, dog bits and much more. This is aimed at answering all of your parts and kit questions:

Updated regularly when I upgrade kit or find better alternatives. Also included is items I get asked about all the time so I've added what I would use if building a camper again.

    Cool tour !
It's given me the kick up the arse i needed to get on with mine, just spent a shed load on bits for my amby conversion lol, not the important stuff like PVC pannels to finish the int linning or vynal to cover the ceiling, no, just crap like H/D air pump, nudge bar and ally scaffolding for a roof rack ;)
Loving it as usuall chap !

It always seems that an ex-ambulance is best for a starter vehicle rather than the panel van. Size wise only would be a metal luton box van would come in second place. 👍
    Great video as ever CJ

I don't know. You have lower MPG and you have to deal with some crazy wiring.

The Sprinter is a fairly narrow van... hence the boxy body needed when converting it into an ambulance. The Peugeot/Fiat/Citroen panel vans are a fair bit wider and so are used a ambulances as they stand.

I Imagine cork walls would have decent properties for noise isolation as well as preventing condensation. It would likely help to reduce echo.

As much as I like the idea of an ambulance, I am not sure if I am up dealing with the complexity. It strikes me that you have all spent a lot of time taking stuff out before being able to start the conversion. Conversely, if you start with a van or minibus you are just putting stuff in.
