- This is a bit different, a former H.A.R.T Incident Support Unit. based on an Iveco Daily chassis.
I wanted a bit more living space compared to the Crafter so looked for something unusual to convert
I noticed there is a 'Tetra' on the fuse box. I think this is for the secure comms unit when it was fitted. TETRA stands for Terrestrial Trunked Radio and has been the system used by all emergency services since the early 2000s. That's why you can't eavesdrop on Police broadcasts these days!
Yep they typically have fairly beefy supply cables, I reused most of them in my previous WAS Sprinter. I am just about to start on the existing 12v wiring in this van including the stuff the squirrels have chewed on!
Looks like a really interesting project, best of luck with everything! Will look forward to the progress!
😮 thankyou for posting.....one of the most interesting van projects ive ever seen.
He mate, yes it’s certainly something different, I just hop it doesn’t prove to be too tall to be practical!
I like the central wall to devide the bed from the living area 👌
Looking forward to the build 👍
Yes, if I can make it work then it will provide some segregation from the dogs as well, especially when they are wet!
I would like to fit a wood burner but I could end up melting the box! It will need a very good flue design!
@CriftinsCampers it's quite crazy looking through the walls 😵
You certainly have your work cut out with this one but let's face it there's no one better qualified to take it on 👍I'm especially looking forward to the wiring, gonna be an epic rewire, especially if you keep some "toys" 😁
@Dirt-Diggler There’s a lot of truly redundant cabling cat5 and coax etc. A lot of the excess 240v and all the 110v stuff is also coming out, I will never need 110v or many of the 20+ 240v sockets, even several of the overhead lockers have sockets in them!
There’s a large metal box above right of the generator with multiple mains cables presented to it.
It may just be providing cable management into the vehicle or may also have some internal termination or components
The only access point I can find is riveted on which is a bit odd. I will be investigating it soon, it will probably have to be temporarily removed anyway because I think it will almost certainly obstruct lifting the generator up and out.
What a project, I want one! Lots of gadgets and playing for you Keith.
Also found a huge stash of oak leaves and acorns, above the ceiling rammed around the skylight, not sure I will playing much with them but I reckon they must have accidentally left it open for ages maybe months to accumulate so much!
Fell on your feet there, cracking project.
Pretty sure you can still use red diesel for heating and generators as long as its not commercial use.
I hope so, I think I will remove the red diesel bit of the sticker though, DVSA would be all over the van if they saw it 😀
Looks like a great project and looking forward to following it. The external heater outlet is used to heat a briefing/meeting area and usually was an inflatable tent structure. I would not have a clue how to start this project! Dave
Thanks, with a van like this it’s just going to end up a a rectangular box with a few extra existing features as a starting point, I am currently chasing a couple of water leaks from the roof whilst stripping it out to insulate.
The only thing that might put some people off is the amount of electrics in these sort of vans but my background means it’s not a problem.
One peculiar thing which I will demonstrate in the next video is the overhead lockers couldn’t be removed without taking the ceiling down first!
@@CriftinsCampersthanks and plenty of wiring and insulation to do. Looking forward to the transformation thanks Dave
I thought that light mast was gonna start shooting lazers everywhere
Yep, interesting gadget, not entirely sure if I will keep them yet, the corner mast needs an overhaul and the night owl is quite heavy.
Most likely thing to put on the night owl if a wind turbine is impractical will be a 4g or TV antenna
@@CriftinsCampers I would definitely look at a wind turbine generating power through the night to help out
Hey pal . I am looking to do a mercedes sprinter ex ambulance build . Watching your video on the genisys system I'm scared to death as I'm not an electrician. How much would you charge to strip it all out ?
I never quote without seeing the vehicle, and I no longer take these sort of jobs on at this time of year any more. Happy to look over the van and give some advice anytime though.
@CriftinsCampers that's totally understandable it's not the best weather now haha. I will keep you updated as not got the van just yet . Saving money as fast as I can
