    Both have 5" and 2" lift kits. Both have 4x4 Conversions available in the aftermarket. Both have diesel options and 300+ Horsepower gas motors. Both have standard and extended bodies. Both Body on frame. Both way better then a Sprinter.

      No problem buddy thanks for the video idea. I knew there are U-hauls at the Walmart I go too so I was able to measure stock vs stock. I also learned something new. When I was shopping for a Van I knew the 6.0 in GMs from the Early 2000s were 300 horsepower like the Ford V10s. So I wanted the GM or Ford 6.0 or 6.8. I knew both of them have lift kits available that's why I wasn't considering Dodge, no lift and they never got a 300+ horsepower motor for the vans. I also knew in 2020 the GMs got the 6.6 with 400 horsepower modern horsepower motor to keep up with the Pick Ups. I had no Idea GM bumped up the power levels of their smaller motors too. the 5.3 Being 300 horsepower surprised me.

      @@JohnDrivesAnything sooner or later... I have a Mercedes Metris that I converted with >110k miles on it that I have used hard and still love a lot. I first bought it as a beach van for kitesurfing, then converted it for camping. At the time I didn't consider a larger van, and I love the small form factor, so I could see doing an Econoline or Express/Savana next. I've been perfectly happy with 2WD - although some more clearance would be great! - and I watched a couple of great videos from Weldtec and Jim Bob, and yours, that are making me think that a lifted 2WD would do me fine. I should do a walk-around video of my own van...

      @@bdwelle43 I'm a van fanatic so I will keep an eye out for your walkaround! Here's a video of me and my friends doing some off roading. Mild Trails I think this is the sort of Terrain the Average Van driver will a lift will see. Nothing crazy but having the capability to go a little further is nice for finding a more remote camp spot. You will love the extra space but the trade off is the fuel economy lol ua-cam.com/video/s0mHWFvNyVo/v-deo.html

      I think it's the design of the GM vans that make them look a lot lower then the Ford. Tape Measure is the truth. The Ford is only an inch taller stock vs stock. The stumpier front end makes it look taller too. Gm has a longer nose.

      @JohnDrivesAnything  Рік тому +3

      @@woffordsoverlandjourneys8618 Yes Sir the long wheelbase GM is safer for hauling 15 people then the Dodge and Fords because Dodge and Ford just tack on Extra length So you havev7 people behind the rear axle Vs only 4 in the GM behind the rear Axle.The Key for safety especially in the Dodge and Fords is rung the Full 80 PSI on the rear tires if you are hauling cargo/people and take your time. I can feel its a big vehicle so I'm never in a rush.

    I’ve had 3 ford econolines and 2 express vans both vans get the job done but I much prefer the Chevy 6.0 or 6.6 Duramax than the awful triton in the ford.the express was available with awd also

    • @JohnDrivesAnything
      @JohnDrivesAnything  11 місяців тому

      GM makes a more powerful engine and the car enthusiasts in me likes that. The only Engine I wanted if I went with a Econoline is the V10 because of the power output. If GM put the 8.1 Big Block more years I would of ended up with that but they only put it in the Vans for a year. Why don't you like the Triton motors?

    • @voiceofreason7119
      @voiceofreason7119 11 місяців тому

      The Tritons make decent power down low but are very problematic especially the later years.I had alot of issues with the 5.4.the 6.0 in the express though down on torque puts down similar power to the v10 and feels quicker to me with the 6 speed.it’s a good reason the 6.0 swaps are popular especially the ly6 nobody Swaps the triton v8 or v10

    I've had a 2000 chevy 3500 extended and now a 2008 ford e350 shorty. Personally ford's look way, way cooler. Ford makes torque way lower in the rpms also.

    • @JohnDrivesAnything
      @JohnDrivesAnything  Рік тому +4

      I know the GM is way safer if you use it as a 15 Passenger van because of the Extended Wheel Base. Ford and Dodge just tack on the Extra length and that has 7 people behind the rear axle if you're using it as a 15 Passenger van. You have to drive those Extra carefully when using them like that. I do like the Tacked on look though. So ugly it looks cool. I wanted the Extended for all the Extra space but the Shorty is better proportioned. You building up your van?

    • @keldonator
      @keldonator Рік тому +3

      @@JohnDrivesAnything I bought it because I find vans more useful than trucks. Its a passenger van, I took all but one bench seat out and I still have room for a full mattress in the back. I didn't want to go full camper because I use it to haul stuff and pull a little cargo trailer occasionally. We still enjoy the camping trips like its set up now. Needed the extra seat for my son.
