    Thank you. I had the walls of my semi soundproofed some years ago and it made a huge improvement. But I did not have the bedroom floors done, so am having a soundproofing firm install some mineral wool soon. Your video helped me understand what they will do.

    Hey I have a question, we soundproofed the alcoves but I can hear them clearly through the chimney breast - can we stuff our chimney with this insulation? It's not an active fireplace

      Hi @TheAntitrollpatrol, adding Acoustic Mineral Wool will certainly help absorb some of the sound from bouncing around inside the chimney. However, it won't soundproof it. Please see the below blog which highlights the ReductoClip System or SoundBoard 4 as options for soundproofing the chimney: www.soundproofingstore.co.uk/how-to-soundproof-a-chimney
      Which system you use can depend on the level and type of noise being heard through the chimney. Please feel free to call and we will happily advise on the best solution (01423) 206208.

    Does this work also directly on top of a brick wall ? I want to glue it on the wall and add double drywall for mass. Will this work for airborne noise from neighbours? I don’t want to create a resilient channel.

      Hi Mihai Sodolescu, as highlighted in the video, the mineral wool won't help to block airborne noise from your neighbour. This video on the 3 best ways to soundproof a solid wall might be of interest: ua-cam.com/video/9wsyxSujkK0/v-deo.html

    When installing a system to a party wall, such as the stud frame, direct-to-wall, or soundboards, is acoustic mineral wool required to go into the suspended floor below to further dampen the sound? Will this make a difference?
    And, is there a certain length it has to be kept from the party wall, or is it required to be filled in as much as possible touching the party wall?

    • @SoundproofingStore
      @SoundproofingStore  Рік тому

      Hi AYmusic, it depends if you can hear noise coming up through the floor? You can do an ear test by listening to the floor when you can hear the unwanted noise and compare what you can hear v's the wall and different parts of the floor. If adding acoustic mineral into the floor joists we usually recommend to come a minimum of 1.5 metres from the wall into the floor.
      It also depends on what kind and level of noise you are trying to reduce in terms of how much of a difference this will make. Please feel free to call us on (01423) 206208 and we can discuss it in more detail with you and advise accordingly.

      @Soundproofing Store That seems quite a gap. Is that for ventilation purposes? The noise is more from the walls rather than the floor. Although we can faintly hear the neighbours TV from the living room in our bedroom (Not directly attached, but one floor up)
      If there is no or very little noise (we're in a terrace house), is it even worth putting it under the floorboards?

      @SoundproofingStore  Рік тому

      @@AYmusic17 if you think very little noise is coming through the floor then the advice would be to treat the walls (with the correct soundproofing system for the type and level of noise) without adding the acoustic mineral wool within the floor joists and go from there. With regards to the 1.5m, there isn't a gap. The mineral wool is added at the bottom of the wall going a min of 1.5m into the floor joists.

    how does this compare with dense packed cellulose ? should the whole cavity be packed, or leave an a ir gap ??

    • @SoundproofingStore
      @SoundproofingStore  Рік тому +1

      Hi John White - Cellulose insulation is good for thermal insulation but is not an acoustic insulation and won't perform anywhere near as well as acoustic mineral wool for absorbing sound.

    When filling in between floor/ceiling joists, does it matter that much about having a continuous layer, or is it more just filling a good percentage of the cavity volume?

    • @SoundproofingStore
      @SoundproofingStore  11 місяців тому

      It depends on your floor joists. As a guide based on 200mm floor joists, we recommend 100mm mineral wool. (So about 50% of the cavity is filled). However, this can vary depending on each situation. Don't fill all of the cavity, as there needs to be an airgap.

    I live in india in an area where there are always drilling and loudspeakers going on and not just that but on festivals , it becomes unbearable to suffer 140db coming from everywhere due to so much population . Will this wool with soundproof booth work? i got one interior guy who made plywood frame with mdf walls and inside that, he is gonna fill this wool. I m still wandering if this will be able to block drill voice coming from my neighbor home in a joint apartment? Can you suggest how to completely block higher db sounds?

    • @SoundproofingStore
      @SoundproofingStore  Рік тому

      Hi bhatt shashank - Thank you for your comment. Unfortunately it's very difficult for us to help with this. I can't recommend any of our solutions because we only supply within the UK and I am not aware of the available systems in India. However, just putting a plywood frame with mdf and mineral wool against the wall is not going to do a lot. Especially for the low frequency structural vibration of drilling. You need a system that dampens high levels of sound energy / vibration. You need to add a lot of mass to the system. However, your bigger problem is if the building is concrete, the vibration is probably spreading everywhere, thorugh your floors, ceilings, walls etc. Just soundproofing one wall will only help so much in this case.

      @@SoundproofingStore Thanks for suggesting the solution. Can you tell which wall i should soundproof in the cube of my room?
      I live in 7 storied building where there are three blocks a,b and c each seven storied. I live in B-601 and building B is surrounded by A and C. Now interestingly, if person living 101 on first floor of either A or C does something with hammer(90db) in his home, i can hear that clearly even being on 6th floor and not only that but that vibration is being spread everywhere it looks like that sound is coming from top of my ceiling which looks very strange to me. Yes you got right that it is due to concrete but how to decide which one to sound proof?
      And yeah just to mention that till this point i have invested around 60k INR for this thing which means lot in Indian rupees and only want to move forward with exact solution. The interior guy is suggesting to make window soundproof which is 5 * 6 feet in my room thus he believes this is the main entry point for sound but this would not work against hammer as you said, isn't it?

    the density of the mineral wool make any difference?

    • @SoundproofingStore
      @SoundproofingStore  Рік тому

      Hi Fabrício Rossini, the short answer is yes, it does make a difference.
      However, how much of a difference depends on the system / other soundproofing materials being used and how weak the structure is to start with. e.g. if using a tried and tested soundproofing solution like the ReductoClip System, the recommendation is 60kg mineral wool. However, if you needed to, you could go down to 45kg because the other elements within the system are so high performing.
