1st! 😎 If you have any chance of being first, you need to hit the bell located below-right of the video to receive email notifications of newly uploaded videos. Any fans of the King's Indian Attack? I hope you enjoy this one. 👍
I've been playing the KIA for the last few weeks and done well with it. Afaict there are no tricks or traps in the opening to look out for, or at least no one has tried any on me... its a 'long play' type of opening, which I prefer anyway, lol. The white bishop is hemmed in for a little while but I like to open the center at a time of my choosing and use it to attack and play on the queenside.
Thanks. A great game by Bobby Fischer. 1970 was a defining year for him. He won everything in sight. Yet, he was a difficult person, he refused to bow to FIDE's rules, and it took Pal Benko's voluntarily vacating his US spot in the 1970 candidates' tournament for Fischer to get the chance to play in the 1972 world championship. Let's not forget Benko's unselfish gesture. Without it, Fischer would not have become world champion. Benko understood Fischer's unique talent, and he sacrificed his own opportunity in order to support Bobby's superior chance for the world championship. Thank you Pal.
Yes, if you can see them. I considered Be4 (having been told there was a combination there, which of course makes it easier) but I couldn't calculate through to the end and would never dared to play it.
Thank you- I appreciate the fact that not only do you play out the game, but you show why alternative moves were not taken, and do so at a level that explains things that might be obvious to very highly rated players, but are not to many of us.
I love your videos! I was taking a break from my homework to have my dinner and what do I see but a new video from you to watch while eating! You cover the game thoroughly and make it very fun to watch. Thanks
Thank you very much for posting this video. I really appreciate the world-class commentating and analysis you provide in all your video lectures. Cheers!
I love pausing in these videos and thinking about what moves i would have chosen (e.g. 10:49 I'd have gone for g6 to rip that defence open, but Fischer's move is much more elegant). Thanks for all the great content!
I’ve heard it said that the King’s Indian Attack does not work well vs Black’s Kingside fianchetto, but (judging by this game) clearly the attack does work well if White has a pawn entrenched on e5. Very strange Panno didn’t snap off White’s Knight on e2 when he had the chance. In any case, Fischer’s brilliant Be4!! is the star move of the game, highly instructive & frankly an unforgettable tactical shot. Thank you for sharing this little-known but highly instructive gem of a game.
I really enjoyed this. And I was blown away when I watched you play 1 minute matches. I have really high respect for you. Appriciate the work you put into these videos. I'd love to see you review a more flawed match, we're both sides do more mistakes. I just think it would be interesting to see the difference to what you normally review.
I love your channel. I've been watching your videos and I love how in depth you are. I'm learning so much. I can tell you love the sport. Keep up the good work.
Hey Jerry would you be willing to cover Tal vs Hjartarson 1987? I think it's one of the most fascinating games I've seen and there is no good coverage of it! You do a great job with your coverage of classic games and I definitely think it would be a challenge even for you to explain this game to anyone that isn't a wizard :)
There is a potential counter-offensive here for Blacks. h6, then g5 followed by Ng6 and then undermine White pawns at e5 and d4. As these white pawns described by Jerry remained unchanged during the whole match. So the strategy here which is CRUCIAL, it is about to crumble these 2 white PAWNS (14:48) (d4&e5) which are pivotal in Fischer's attack. The counter-offensive idea here is to promote Black d5 and e6 to d4 & e5 (by placing both knights to attack e5 square) so once this takes places then the roles have been reversed. But all these (my nonsense haha!!) is in hindsight and Fischer like many times before demonstrated here that is it is all about SUPERIOR positioning and IT IS ALL ABOUT PAWNS to support the other minor pieces. Brilliant Jerry and thank you from Down-under :))
The gravity of when Fischer built up these attacks is just amazing. I know it may sound crazy, but it was just like or at least similar to the play of Tal and Mophy.
Why I always loved Fischer’s play. Constant pressure applied, then when he releases the pressure the opponent is left wondering where it all went wrong.
Hey Jerry! I just want to thank you for uploading these videos, especially your beginner to master series videos in order to help new chess players get better. If you had time to follow up on this question i would greatly appreciate it. I am just wondering what you feel the best way for a new player to get better is. I've watched pretty much all your videos in that learner's playlist and i play quite frequently, every day that is. I just started getting into chess heavily and trying to get better probably two weeks ago. Would it be beneficial to just play as much as possible, or do you think certain learning devices such as tactics, online lessons etc would be more beneficial than just playing for a beginner? Your suggestions would be awesome! Thank you.
i feel like i had the most improvement when i started doing tactic puzzles frequently, after some time you recognize some patterns for the tactics, especially on a beginners level it can win u a lot of games no matter how good or bad your positional/strategic play is.
Jerry.. big thanks for this and all your many outstanding other videos. I play agaist a computer set at maximum force..what our your thoughts on losing as a way to learn big thanks
I never understand people saying "Why do they resign? They should accept checkmate." Are you kidding? If you're playing in a tournament and a man or woman reaches across to shake your hand saying they resign, you accept it without any unhappiness. They see it, you see it. End of story. There's no need for this masturbatory checkmate to happen. Sorry if you as the viewer don't get to really see it out, but get over it. The game is over, and high level players know it when they see it. That's honor enough, to know that you've won.
@@EugeneOneguine Hi, somebody told me about the game go. I'd never heard of it until the other day. Do you know of any go apps/websites that are any good? Kind regards.
@@EugeneOneguine That's brilliant! Thank you very much! I hope to find time to play soon, between work and parenting. I will certainly be in touch once I have downloaded the app. Thank you very much Eugène. Jamie.
I don't particularly understand Black's decision to resign just one move before mate. You may as well play the final move; resigning just one move before mate seems to do nothing but suggest that you took that long to actually realise you were lost. Nonetheless a brilliant game by Fischer. Definitely going to try play the KIA having seen this game (and some of his others).
Interesting, I had a similar Be4 move in a blitz game earlier today, but to exploit a pin on the Queen on e7 (which also matches the black Queen's square here). However, I was too enamored with the crazy Nf5 move, trying to "make it work."
In that pawn structure, Black needed to be more active on the queenside but way too slow. Na5 flicked aside by b3. How Panno wasn’t concerned about Ng3 and the flood of pieces? a5 not even necessary in terms of guarding b4.. Black just seemed out to lunch on that one
8.33: What a force on the kingside. I would actually, as black, have traded the bishop for the knight a move earlier, but then again, I am one of the few who values knights higher than bishops, Also, I don't have as strong opponents as Oscar Panno ;D

"I dont believe in psychology, I believe in good moves"
really well detailed chess game explanation m8! Keep up the good work :) This video really helped me with my chess matches :)
Can you dig some ancient chess tactics.. like in first century or older? It be cool to see.

what didnt he like about fides rules? ive never heard this story
That's pretty classy from Mr. Benko.
Wow i love that Fisher quote, "tactics flow from a superior position"
Yes, if you can see them. I considered Be4 (having been told there was a combination there, which of course makes it easier) but I couldn't calculate through to the end and would never dared to play it.
I just saw where the knight wanted to be, but couldnt understand how to place it there, didnt see the bishop sacrifice lol
Me too. That resonated
Good commentary - thank you.

you are on complete fire Jerry! If you keep doing this, I won't be able to concentrate on my exams XD! Keep it up. Love from INDIA :)
Fischer games are so educational!
Thank you so much for all these analysis uploads, they're my favorite
+Jules Winnfield 👍🏼
Brilliantly clear explanation and a real learning experience for me! Thanks Jerry from England.
As weird as it may sound, King's Indian is actually nostalgic for me. It was the opening I used in maybe 80% of my games when I was about 11
Awesome--killer commentary! I was looking for something on this game, glad I stumbled upon this.😊
With your commentary and the view of the moves. I learned quite a bit in this overview. Very well done, my hat is off to you. Nice
Your upload rate is incredible Jerry. Big THANKS!!!!
You have a heart of gold, Jerry. Have a merry day :)
3:58 Jerry says "Everything but a rook or king"
Nigel Short would say: "Everything, especially a king!"
Ayyy
Was thinking same thing hahaha classic meme
lol true and Shirov as well
Alphazero:especially the rook

I enjoyed that and the presentation was excellent. Thanks
I love how at move 25 all of Oscar's pieces are on the queen side and all of Bobby's pieces are on the king side
Hey Jerry
You're my favorite chess player.
You're extremely surgical and it's really helping me grow.
I adore you

Love watching your videos...such pleasure
Thanks for posting
I swear Jerry says "hi everyone it's Jerry" in the saddest of voices.
It fascinates me...to me the tone sounds like a welcoming humility. A simple opening, barely hinting at the complexity and struggle to come... ;)
i agree
Fischer the real chess genius.
i know right? every time he says "hi everyone it's Jerry" I feel crushed with depression
i think it’s normal, we are watching too many zoomer vlogtubers.
Love the new videos Jerry! Thank you!
As usual, great video and commentary!
I love your analyses of classics.

wow what a game I would have gone wrong so many times the way fischer gives up pieces just amazing.
Thnks for video..enjoyd it very much
I love your pop quizzes!
Wow, great content Jerry!
another wonderful video 28. Be4 very instructive -- looked at it as a candidate move, but did not look deep enough. thanks!
10:37 "this knight, what's he up to? Nobody knows." Haha
exactlly, funny
Ngl that lead to me subscribing.. hoping the narration is usually this enjoyable :)

I'm new to chess, this Fischer guy seems pretty good
Bobby Fischer was world champion from 1972 to 1975. American.
I don't even like Chess... Why am I here enjoying watching these plays and strategies so much?? How did I even get here
Start playing chess already!
It is Bobby Fischer that was on the board, Fischer is a legend
Fisher's sacrifice game is on point.
I can only dream to play chess like Bobby.
Keep it up, jerry. Love love love
LIKED AND COMMENTED! you're welcome you gosu chess master!!! love you jerry and your tricky knights ! xoxo
i love to see bobby fischer games ! i would loved to see magnus playing against him :D
Great commentary. I thought it flowed as well. Black not being able to create counter play at every turn.
You make it seem simple enough for me to believe I would have certainly played like Bobby.
Bobby fischer's chess makes it seem simple enough.
Thank you!
completely off my radar, i was seeing pawn takes pawn, and then a possible win with combination of further moves... This was amazing
Great game together with insightful commentary. My idea of a good time.
This flow.. 👌Noice 😍😍😍
I'm a simple man, i see Fischer, i like.
Jerry, where are you? Why aren’t you posting more chess videos. You’re the best voice for chess on UA-cam
Nice commentary. Some guys are hard to follow when they explain the scenarios apart from the real game.
Thank you Jerry!
Pretty bad at chess but still spotted that e 4 bishop move (only cause you said there was tactics). Love your videos Jerry!

Great vid! What if at 13.20 min black played bishop to e8 to challenge the white bishop, instead of playing knight to g5? wouldn't that be better?
You rule Jerry! Cheers from Portugal

YOU ARE THE BEST !
THE BEST !!
BEST !!!
It's easy to overlook tactics involving a square that is defended by a pawn. Fisher makes this game look so simple.
awesome thanks
What is the name of the little music at the end? Im in love
I knew the move because another chess channel made a puzzle about it not too long ago. Awesome game
VERY instructive! 🖒

This takes even more sense when you're playing go. To resign before the 100 last moves that just close the stones hahaha

One thing that they avoid by resigning is having to keep notating moves and clock times for each player as well, it’s just easier
thanks Jerry
Amazing
23 ... Bxh6
This is unusual. Normally the bishop sits there and exchange occurs on g7, which would prevent Qh6. Is this another error by Panno?

Move 28 by White! Wow! I play King's Indian a lot.
Really enjoy this variation of KIA , I like Bobby’s idea here
I think it would be cool if you had the evaluation on the side
13:17 why didnt oscar play Be8?
thank you Jerry. my girlfriend and I love your videos. keep going

Even rooks can 'camp' on f6 to blockade f pawn nd in rare instances transfer from there to h6 forcing mate on g or h file.
