Jerry, you are by all accounts greatest chess commentator ever, you nail it to the fullest, squeezing everything out of a game or even a single move just to give us as big chess knowledge as possible. thank you, Jerry.
Interesting sideline -- after sitting down to start the game, Fischer saw that Myagmarsuren's name placard at the board was in Cyrillic, and Fischer had no idea who he was. After pondering for a moment, Fisher finished filling out his score sheet header, and in the space reserved for the Black player Fischer simply wrote "a Mongolian".
In that case Fischer simply didn't know who the guy was, because he allegedly read a lot of Soviet chess literature and claimed to have learned Russian, surely he must have understood how to read Cyrilic in that case
Just because it was written in Cyrillic doesn't mean he recognized the individual. By 1967 Fisher was at the highest levels in the chess world for some time so he knew of all the greats. I take this story to mean "If I don't know you then I don't need to know you - or fear your"
It actually happened in 1962 Olympian game against different Mongolian Sharav Purevzhav. This is the second time he played against a Mongolian. I think
It was a long time since I've watched your videos, today this one popped into my subs and I enjoyed it thoroughly. A concise and logical analysis of the game, with great placement of pop quiz (especially last one). Thank you.
When I started watching your videos a few years back, I was amaised by the tactical shots and never got a pop quizz right. Now I feel that they are only a few that I can't find. Many thanks, chears from Nantes, France
Beautiful Fischeresque finish! Masterful demonstration of destroying the defense with a concentrated attack. Fischer understood how to make his pieces work together, perhaps better than anyone else. The queen sacrifice is only possible because the rook is there, all set to finish. Great chess video!
I solved the pop quiz in less then 30 seconds!! I would rarely find them before but after watching your videos for a long time (and also thanks to alpha zero), i finally saw the correct move with huge confidence. Thank you so much Jerry! Edit: i didn't work well for the other 2, close enough though :)
Practice makes perfect! Its always good to acknowledge progress in yourself as a reward for the effort put in. I've seen many not do that and just give up prematurely.
I watched the fisher panove game. after I watched that game I started winning with the kings indian attack opening. The Mongolian game that you showed in this video was similar to the panove game. Because of games like this I play the kings indian attack often. I like the ending of the Mongolian game it's like a new mating pattern. I like watching Fisher's games he makes chess look easy. I wish he was still alive today. He was the Michal jodan of chess.
There is something so eloquent about that attack, but I can not put my finger on it. It is a combination of pace and patience, whilst having total confidence it will not falter. Did I say eloquent, I mean maniacally good. Makes me think of an episode of House MD.
Great game summary! The near-final position also occurs as a study in Nunn's "Learn Chess", chapter 6, which by coincidence I just read today. This gives great perspective on how a kingside attack like this can be planned and carried out effectively even from the beginning of the game.
I remember going through this game not a long ago, I think it was either in some of Panchenkos or Konstantin Sakaevs books... Regardless, what a great video and it was nice seeing some explanation on moves that the author of that book (whatever it was now) didn't seem to consider significant enough. That Bg2 was such a great move! It looks way too slow and sort of contradictory moving bishop a square backwards in the middle of a sharp attack (with dangerous looking counter-attack coming queenside), but in the end it makes whites attack unstoppable. Think what you will of Fischer as a person, but on the chess board there is or never was anyone like him. Maybe Tal, but only because he has played so many memorable games.
I think Fischer had more raw talent than Magnus but if you're talking about the Fischer vs Spassky version of bobby fischer, he'd struggle to win against Magnus. The difficulty with comparing great players from different time periods is always that theory is more developed for the players who came later, and that gives them an edge regardless of pure talent.
Fischer would beat him he was just to strong a chess player for anybody to win against any any era. To bad his mental health problems didn't allow him to play Karposov are Karpov. That would have been epic-
Huh, besides the obvious enjoyment of your channel, Jerry, gotdam, but Bobby was downright evil. In the past, I've studied his games thoroughly, but missed this one. Evil is all that came to mind. TY for the game and the insight. Rich
Would the better move have been a discovered pin by playing queen g4 before playing Bishop f6 to weaken the dark squares setting up a small battery? @8:00 mark.
At 5:17, can white also first play Bxe6, and after f7xBe6 white can play Nxe6 forking the queen and rook so white is up two pawns and rook for two minor pieces? Or I guess its better just being up two pawns so there is less counterplay
Hi, beginner here. I don’t understand why on the 21st move white didn’t place the queen on g4 instead of h5, thus precipitating, as far as I can tell, black’s g7 pawn move. What am I missing?
Very nice, but one thing I didn't understand - black can defend with Rc7 (instead of Ra7) and after Bg2 continue with Bb7 and control the e4 square against the white bishop. Seems like a better defence?
5:40 another variation is Bxe6. If black recaptures with the pawn, white takes it with the knight posing a fork. Black moves the queen away, white captures the f8 rook. Black then recaptures. Then it’s safe to capture the a5 knight.
No. I thought that as well but its not a forced variation. Bxe6 doesn't require the response of fxe. Black can move one of the hanging pieces at the cost of a pawn and ignore the Bishop. Nxe6 must be acknowledged.
No. In the rare case I re-upload a game/topic, I will say so at the beginning of the video. Here’s a game that is similar: m.ua-cam.com/video/nkXZs1DHSV8/v-deo.html
I'm not sure this is what I was remembering. I remember a seemingly surprising capture like if QxG6 instead of QxH7. The ending position just feels familiar in some way like that, but maybe not quite the same. It's also possible I have seen another channel review this game too. Thanks for the response.
So fascinating, Fischer is relentless. Myagmarsuren really only made one blunder, move 22, Kc3, but that was enough for Fischer puncture his whole set-up.
I can't believe you never mention the classic and undefeatable "Bottle neck" defence. When you are ahead in points you simply slice your opponents neck open with a broken bottle...sure you'll go to jail but at least you technically win the game:)

If he was judging based off only appearance, then Kazakh might have also been plausible, since they're primarily Asian racially and use Russian.
It actually happened in 1962 Olympian game against different Mongolian Sharav Purevzhav. This is the second time he played against a Mongolian. I think
Fischer was also just a bit racist
a beautiful combination to finish the game. I have never seen this game before - thank you for showing it and adding your excellent commentary.
Jerry, your analyses posses an infallible lulling effect that sends my burdened mind into majestic repose. Thank you
kindly upload more videos like this with every possible ways of playing. It helps in learning a lot
One of my favourite Fischer games.. and so well explained!
It was a long time since I've watched your videos, today this one popped into my subs and I enjoyed it thoroughly. A concise and logical analysis of the game, with great placement of pop quiz (especially last one). Thank you.
Thanks Jerry. The Kings Indian attack or the reti system are openings that I really love.
When I started watching your videos a few years back, I was amaised by the tactical shots and never got a pop quizz right.

I'm new to the Chess Network and I've found your analyses the best by far Thank you
Jerry.
Thank you
Thank you for this game. Good one and i liked the commentaries.
As an amateur am glad i found the last quiz for the checkmate of Fischer.
Everything about this game is my favorite, the player, the opening, and the style of play. Excellent!
Beautiful Fischeresque finish! Masterful demonstration of destroying the defense with a concentrated attack. Fischer understood how to make his pieces work together, perhaps better than anyone else. HanSulh i usually find the right answer too... The thing is reach that position first in my own games 😂
Practice makes perfect! Its always good to acknowledge progress in yourself as a reward for the effort put in. I've seen many not do that and just give up prematurely.
What an absolute masterpiece of a finish. Just wow. Maintaining tension can really be everything.
Your video is very instructive and I thank you.

For the first time, I solve all the pop quiz. Thanks for your upload.
A very great video and beautiful combination by Bobby Fisher....what a genius!
There is something so eloquent about that attack, but I can not put my finger on it. It is a combination of pace and patience, whilst having total confidence it will not falter. Did I say eloquent, I mean maniacally good. Makes me think of an episode of House MD.
Yep whenever I think of Bobby Fischer I think of House MD...also lupus
Fischer would beat Carlsen, Kasparov, Karpov, Caruana, Anand 6-0 or 6-1
@@milahimuhamed6225 Not Carlsen because modern opening theory
Great video, thanks
Another beautiful game. Thanks Jerry!
Best explanation of Fischer’s 13 a3 move I have read!
👍

Beautiful. I figured out the queen sac and now can add the need to include a bishop in such a mate to my repertoire.
amazing game and amazing breakdown thanks CN~!
nice game....good analysis....cheers from Chile!
enjoyed immensely!
how does one guy think of this at the spot. the technicality, the plan, the vision and the execution are fabulous
I knew there was a reason for me being up right now
Fischer is really the best chess player ever. And you are one of the best chess commentators if not the best ever.
This is peak chess commentary ASMR right here. 😔👌
Such a soothing voice!
Yes, more Fischer games please!
Fischer was just simply amazing.
He was a Superman, Bobby Fischer.
Their is a "brilliancy move!" The white move b-g2 simply brilliant.😇💖

I wonder how Fischer in his prime would have fared against Magnus.
Jonathan Stewart I think he'd fare well.
Jonathan Stewart he'd do decent but I don't think he'll be able to win any games besides a few here and there. It's like pelé vs messi.
I think Fischer had more raw talent than Magnus but if you're talking about the Fischer vs Spassky version of bobby fischer, he'd struggle to win against Magnus. Fischer would be a lot scarier with engines (if he is in his prime with our current knowlege in chess)
I have watched the game before, it was a nice kingside attack
Jerry make video consistently.dont break the chain.thanx is a small thing for the type of analysis you always do.👍👍👍
Huh, besides the obvious enjoyment of your channel, Jerry, gotdam, but Bobby was downright evil. In the past, I've studied his games thoroughly, but missed this one. Evil is all that came to mind. TY for the game and the insight. Rich
Jerry please make a daily upload for this kind of analysis! or once in 2 days at least
The next time someone says to me that chess is a game, I will show him/her this game. Pure art!!!
Awesome game thx for sharing
Very nice! Friggin' Fischer, just too good
Would the better move have been a discovered pin by playing queen g4 before playing Bishop f6 to weaken the dark squares setting up a small battery? @8:00 mark.
Awesome 👍👏👏
Loved this one.
What a beautifully positional game.
hi, everyone is jerry
Not it’s hi everyone, it’s jerry
Happy 420k subs
Thanks You Master
Jerry your a Great Moderator!
My great great grandfather is from Mongolia.
May be we are related all though my rating would say otherwise.
Just a "fun" fact.
Thank you
Bobby Fischer was the only one who defeated an Empire of chess players at that time(Smyslov, Taimanov, Petrosian, Spassky, Tal)
Bobby and Morphy are the true American Chess Heroes.

Could be possible maybe, but he was to greedy taking that c pawn when his king were under so heavy fire
Erap21 breaking the rule: if you dont get nothing moving a pawn, dont move it

I just Love ❤ the calculation of RJF! 🔱

At the quizzes, I chose the same *initial* moves as Fisher, but couldn’t follow up.
Wow amazing moves
Nice vid 👍

I ENJOYED IT
I always mess up my attack down the H file... Hope this'll help me in the future :D
spectacular
Do you program this out? If so in what language?
How does white win vs either 28...dxc2 fxg6 c1=Q+ or 30...c1=Q+?
Well, I failed every "quiz" given here. I guess I'm not a chess genius. 😂
Which program do you use on this video?
Fischer had no mercy, he was totally a monster.
No mention about 9...f6 ?
I can't believe you never mention the classic and undefeatable "Bottle neck" defence. When you are ahead in points you simply slice your opponents neck open with a broken bottle...sure you'll go to jail but at least you technically win the game:)
did you really said tunisia or im missing something :D i didnt knew fisher came here ever
Just. Wow.
Brilliant
at 5:37 why not Qb6 ? also at 6:32 why not c4?
When you get every pop quiz correct first try. *Dabs*
on Bobby's score sheet.. he just wrote "a gm from mongolia" :D
True story ?
@@sidskysingh I don't know, Yasser said it :D
What if Rc7 instead of Ra7 in order to meet Bg2 with Bb7 ?
very sharp ending
You're really going to play a game with me? We haven't played since I was 12.
I resign...
why not 17. Nf1 h6 or 18. Bd2 h6?
Why am I still up at 4:49 am XD
Millip just waiting for Jerry to upload!
Night owl
In need of a blue light filter?
coincidentally, I am watching this at 4:30 am the following day haha
bless you, jerry!
Hey Jerry why have you never revealed your face???
28. .. Rc7
29. .. Bb7
Could have been willing for black, right?
Why aren't you doing lczero games anymore?
I felt good deciding my move was to sacrifice queen..JoY..! 😉😀
I just started watching these videos, does black ever win?
Nope. Playing with the dark side leads to mega death
Do you play on lichess?
He does.
Yes, I was paired against him in a tournament once. lichess.org/dKgJADdKd9dE Had a great game against him til move 23
Hey Jerry what do you prefer? Asparagus or carrots?
🥕🥕 Raw only though. 😎
Agreed, cooked carrots are grim.
In move 15 y not Pawn d4 than bishop a6 ( black )
Why do chess players always resign they dont ever play the game out?
At this chess level if he's been outplayed so far then an obvious endgame that is easy is absurd to continue on.
Waste of time
