although i would’ve loved seeing pattinsons batman alongside corenswets superman, i like the idea of an older more experienced batman (not super old), coexisting with a young superman. the way each of them look at the world would be very interesting and would make for some interesting scenes between the two
Agreed. But I think he’ll only be slightly older. Like an older brother more than anything.
If we pretend Batman started in his early 20s. And he's been at it for ten years. Even being in his early thirties would make him an extremely experienced veteran crime fighter.
Kind of like the arkham batman. At least a decade into his career, but very much still in his prime
I would want batman to be 10 to 15 years into his career and starting at either 23 or 25 so he would be between 33 and 40, which is still older than batman which I like, but still be close in age, kinda like a big brother.

When it comes to Bruce Wayne training to become Batman. I think it makes the most sense that he started as a kid or teenager for learning martial arts. And then obviously learns all his detective skills while going to private school or college or something like that. I'm sure young Bruce Wayne studied all kinds of topics while on summer break.

I wanna see the full movies stay bigger events and see the more day to day stuff in the tv shows. Like a tv show reminiscent of a CSI where Batman discovers his smaller villains and handles street level crime instead of huge city wide/world ending events
Though, we'll still see DC content over here in the United States. It's just DC Studios headquarters will be located in London.
I like that DC Studios is building 10 new dedicated soundstages at Leavesden studios.
This means they won't have to continually rebuild sets and tear them down. They can build a Bat cave and use it over and over again, etc,etc...
So personally I’d prefer them jumping right into the breathing universe and Dick being Nightwing and Jason being Red Hood already. Ideally, I’d like them to make a live action Death in the Family movie based in the past or added into a Red Hood movie. I’m just excited to see what happens and who makes the cut for the bat family. I trust James and am going in open to the DCU. Thanks for the video!!
Tim drake may be red robin
Honestly, I'd be shocked if they include any other Robin beyond Dick Grayson and Damian Wayne. There's really no point in including extra characters with their elaborate histories just for the sake of completionism. Aside from anything else, it'd take up room in a movie that doesn't actually need them.
My impression from their announcements is that it'll open with Batman and Nightwing estranged, Dick having left because Bruce is just too negative and brutal. So when Damian comes along, he'll seem like the Robin that Bruce wished Dick had been, a true counterpart for his brutal Batman instead of Dick's increasingly bleeding-heart ,"woke" approach to crime fighting. And of course, it'll all go horribly wrong, with Bruce finding himself in Dick's position, trying to reign in Damian's murderous tendencies. And if James Gunn puts his stamp on it, it'll all be really funny. Which is something live-action Batman has been missing.
But involving Tim Drake, Jason Todd, Stephanie Brown, or the rest of the ever-expanding Bat Family will just get in the way of a straightforward story, "What happens when Batman and Robin disagree on how to fight crime?" The last thing I think they should do straight out of the gate is drop a brand new audience into a gigantic Bat-Family epic, like The Royal Tenenbaums in capes, just for the sake of fan service to us die-hards. Then again, who knows? Maybe they could pull it off. Gunn's pretty good at ensembles.
Actually I think Brave and the Bold should have Red Hood as the antagonist it might be interesting to have his son fight his greatest failure

@@rottensquid the way I see it alot of the things announced seems to have Legacy as a theme Superman with trying to balance his duel heratige, then Paradise Lost dealing with Wonder Woman's lineage, so why not Batman you can have Dick Jason and Damien in one movie the Legacy of Robin through Batman's influence Nightwing surpassing him a hero, Red Hood left for dead and hanging like a shadow over Batman, and now Damien he could go either way and Batman has to figure out how he is going to nurture him so he doesn't lose his son
I mean we never actually never see Robin to nightwing ever expect for titans and brave and bold
I am most looking forward to Batfamily, specifically seeing Nightwing and Robin. Would also love Batman&Superman friendship. My biggest concern is that this universe will cave to corporate pressures to go dark tone and see like how popular the injustice universe is and we will end up with the multiverse too soon just so they can do a massive civil war style of dark movies with my favorite characters killing each other.
Even though I fully agree with your point, I fear it might be going completely the other way to a much more lighthearted or comedic just like MCU which I would hate honestly.. and it would not work very well with the contrast of certain characters like Batman and Superman at all.

@@ouafaechagh4899 Right but those characters are supposed to be comedic unlike Superman or Batman who arent comedic at all in that way. They are unintentionally funny like Clark being a farm boy can be made into a joke and Batman being vey typically asocial and using few words unless its usefull information he is sharing that is something that can be made comedic. The animated Justice League series made it slightly more comedic than in the comics and it was perfect, they made sure not to break their characters.

@@ouafaechagh4899the thing is that should absolutely not be the case. DC should be the lighter of the two! Batman and Superman have tried not to kill people where as most of the MCU has been a part of or supplied a military force that actively kill people they deem a threat. The x men are an allegory for racism! DC doesn’t have to be quippy but heroes like Superman and Nightwing and Flash are supposed to bring light and hope. The reason we all think DC is dark is because Batman movies became the dependable money maker for WB and Batman is about finding catharsis after loss, Justice, and how daunting and unforgiving a journey that is.
I love the fact that this universe is USED to heroes. And I think that will show how this Superman is so special because despite years of heroes, Superman is STILL in a class all his own
Superman Legacy doesn’t need to be a billion dollar movie to be successful, if the movie is fantastic and it makes 700 million or so, that’s great!
You have to rebuild the brand from the ground up and not rush it, get DC back to a healthy place first and I think that’s what Superman is gonna do

Honestly, I just hope the DCU makes me believe that all of these things are happening in the same universe. In the DCEU, I felt like things felt TOO cut off from each other. It's hard picturing Batman and Gotham being in the same universe as Themyscira for instance. I hope this universe really makes that more believable honestly
I really hope Tim Drake is based on his post-crisis version. That was the best era for his character and he's never been the same. 🙏
Not saying Gunn will do anything remotely like this but imagine a Godfather 2 style Batman movie. Set in both past and present it could flash back and forth from the past where Bruce and Dick Grayson Robin are working a case, to the present where Bruce is working a similar (or the same unsolved) case with Damian (and Nightwing). The entire “up and running universe” controversy seems like a non-issue if directors rely on basic filmmaking techniques such as the use of flashbacks.
Regarding Gunn's idea that every project should have its own tone, the key phrase, as you mentioned, was "if it works." This says to me that directors won't have complete control over their projects because ultimately Gunn's decision will be the final one. So yes, this will be the GunnUniverse regardless of his lip service.
Sure, the ElseWorlds projects can have their own tone but if you're trying to build a collective, connected universe you can't have a proper character crossover if their tones are completely different. We saw this when Whedon took over for Snyder for the Justice League movie. While Snyder prefers dark, denatured tones and tons of slow-mo, Whedon brought the "Marvel look" to the Justice League and suddenly the costumes and even character nuances don't fit what came before.
The moral of the story is that you can't have disparate and largely shifting tones across multiple projects then expect them to gel when you put them together. For those of us over 40 can remember how weird it would look when you saw your little sister playing with Barbies and substitute He-Man for the Ken doll they didn't have. Those are two completely different universes, aesthetics and purposes. Melding their worlds together just didn't make any sense aside from a joke.
I for one don't believe Gunn's take will be successful. For starters, the solo Superman movie will feature 5 other superheroes, side characters like Lois Lane and probably others like Perry White, Jimmy Olsen, Martha Kent and possibly some flashbacks of Jonathon Kent and/or Jor El. And Gunn hasn't even announced the main villain yet. Sorry but that just feels like too much for a movie meant to introduce yet another take on Superman as well as being a pseudo-origin story.
How do they get people to the theater?
Proper advertising! And start that very early. Superbowl ads, regular tv spots, online ads, magazines, public transit, billboards, etc, etc.
As long as the film is actually good, it will sell itself.
you know what would be sick? If the Batman in the brave and the bold is actually Dick Grayson in the middle, or beginning of his era, as taking over as Batman and the end of the movie we find out that Batman is dead and comes back the same way he does in the comics, from the Lazarus pit just like Jason Todd. which allows all of Batman’s sequel movies, to be flashbacks! forming the bat family, establishing his rogues, and at the end of all of that we come back to him as a flawed father, not knowing how to raise his bat family after coming back from the dead and meeting his son for the first time.
I would like Wonder Woman to be introduced to the DCU for the first DCU Game if it's a new actress. If it still is Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman I would like to see her appear in peacemaker season 2 to check in on peacemaker being that peacemaker has met the old justice league. Now for paradise lost it would be nice if Donna Troy made an appearance
I more want to see Tim Drake in the brave and the bold and Nightwing as a cameo so that he can star in his own movie. Nightwing is the obvious pick to apear I just think that at just point he as big as Batman (in terms of the comics) and we sould get batfamily meambers who are more still under batman wing for ex: Tim Drake, Cassandra Cain, Stephanie Brown, Duke Thomas, and so on and so fourth.
Great video! I really loved what you said about how Superman: Legacy really needs to knock it out of the park, and I agree. Thanks for the reminders of what Gunn said about it, specifically that it will look different than anything else that’s come before. That’s essential! While I don’t think that “superhero movie fatigue” is a thing, I do think that people are fatigued from superhero movies that look and sound like everything that’s come before. More of the same, more of the same won’t cut it here.
When the Batman teaser first dropped, I think people were electrified by the noirish visuals and the use of the song, the moody vibe of it all. The Superman: Legacy trailers are going to need to have that same distinctiveness, only tailored to a bright and bold Superman movie, of course. I think they’ll want to go more of a Superman & Lois route and really showcase his relationship with Lois. She can’t be a side character who is more of an afterthought, helping out in some minor way during the final battle. Both of them need to be front and center. What if it took a cue from a classic movie like the Thin Man, with a couple who banter charmingly while solving mysteries and going on adventures together? Then again, that seems like a lot to cram in if they are going to have all these other heroes and the story is also going to be about Superman’s legacy, with that phrase working on several levels.
Regarding what you said about how much Gunn is really going to let individual directors have control over their projects, that is a heavy concern of mine because of the way that the Flash was handled. It’s been widely reported that the original version of the film had Keaton and Supergirl showing up at the courthouse instead of Clooney, but Gunn didn’t want to promise something that wasn’t going to be true and had Muschietti change it. However, in doing so, it changed the feeling you are left with at the end of the movie. Which version did people who praised it so heavily see, the people like Stephen King and Tom Cruise? Did they see the Keaton/Batgirl version? I can’t imagine them heaping praise like that on the movie that the rest of us eventually saw. The feeling you are left with is entirely different, quite downbeat or even depressing.
That was an example of Gunn stepping in for the good of the coming DCU, but to the detriment of the overall movie. Don’t get me wrong, I love Gunn and I love what he’s done with his writing/directing. I love Peacemaker especially. But the Clooney thing is an example of where I think he made the wrong call. Granted, maybe it’s not even his fault - maybe Zaslav was the one who insisted on the change and overrode both Muschietti and Gunn. But regardless of whoever was responsible, it is this very thing that concerns me. I try to stay hopeful though - maybe this won’t be a problem in a universe that’s cohesive from the start.

Lifelong Wonder Woman fan. When I heard that Gunn wanted "Game of Thrones" For "Paradise Lost", I winced. Then he pointed at "Historia", I winced even more. I really don't want barbarian Amazons. The Golden Age Amazons were amazing. They had futuristic tech that was mixed with magic. They were athletes, competitive athletes, they had fun. Diana was an inventor, a brilliant one. Lots of great stuff there. When Wonder Woman was rebooted after crisis, Greg Potter got rid of the tech, because he thought a perfect society wouldn't need tech. But when I saw the Black Panther movie, I saw so much great stuff that had been in the Golden Age Wonder Woman book. In the 40's, Wonder Woman was selling a million copies a month, it was a huge hit. When they had all the magical infused tech, and the spirit of the Amazons, which was not just a warrior spirit, but a fun spirit as well. And there was all the sexual subtext, that I'm sure DC will not touch. But please no barbarian Amazons! I really want Gunn to read the Golden Age stories. When the Wonder Woman book was one of the biggest sellers. It is possible to adapt that. Black Panther did something similar quite beautifully. . No "Game of Thrones", uggh. No "Historia".

The only reason it was such a hit was because critics were afraid to put it down or risk being called racist
Having a Veteran Batman is all good and fine but I get the vibe that they will not cover Dick, Jason, Tim, and Barbara like they deserve. If they do those characters at all, I fear it'll be just glossing over them at best: "oh yeah those characters also exist I guess, here's Damian btw." Might be jarring for general audiences, the folks that don't know Batman has more than one sidekick.

Well, do you agree with the idea of James Gunn will surprise everybody with Robert Pattinson being the Batman of the DCU.
So that means the first movie in the DCU is the Batman 2022.
I hope that he'll fix the confuse of 2 Batmans at the same time by adding Robert in the DCU.

What I’m most looking forward to is each project feeling distinct; Gunn himself said he wants people to be able to be able to watch whatever film/show they want without being beholden to the rest of the DCU. If people wanna watch Superman: Legacy, or PM Season 2, or Creature Commandoes, they’ll be able to enjoy and understand it without having to watch 4 other things. That’s a problem the MCU has run into recently, like you wouldn’t get the full impact of Dr Strange 2 if you didn’t watch WandaVision, for which you have to have seen Endgame and Infinity War, for which you’ll have to have seen Dr Strange 1 and the rest of the MCU (and, to an extent, What If…, Inhumans, X-Men movies and cartoon, etc). I think getting away from that will be a nice change of pace and make it WAY more accessible for new audiences to jump on board with whatever project speaks to them the most, whether it be Superman, Lanterns, Blue Beetle, Booster Gold, Supergirl, Batman B&TB, whatever. I’m really excited for people to like DC again and I think this’ll help!
My biggest concern was that it might not be a full reboot, but this is lessening as time goes on. Before, it seemed like the “reboot-iness” of the DCEU to the DCU would be a 65/35 split with WW, Aquaman, Shazam, The Suicide Squad, The Flash and Team Peacemaker being brought over… But now, it seems like Gal Gadot isn’t gonna stay as WW. Shazam 2 not doing so well means Levi could be out (although he’s not as big of a deal so if he comes back it wouldn’t be the worst). People’s lack on interest in Aquaman 2 seems like if Mamoa comes back it’ll be as Lobo (which would be a perfect compromise and keep him around for audiences in a better way). Team Peacemaker is confirmed to return, as is David as Waller, but they’re pretty minor characters and (apart from the cameos at the end of Season 1) feel separate enough that I can imagine them blending in. Those cameos do really mess with things with Flash and Aquaman, and that’s the only sign I have that they’d actually stick around, but I imagine it’ll be like what Shazam 2 did where we see flashbacks to the first movie but with changes made to show that the new reality is largely the same but slightly different. Idk, we’ll see about these projects, but the totally new ones have me VERY excited!
The only issue I have is that Batman appears earlier than Superman. Personally I like the idea that both Batman and Superman started around the same time. That way when they’re both 10+ years into their careers, it works well with the whole established “superheroes having existed for a long time now”. But that’s just my preference.
Also regarding the character’s ages, I have no quarrels with them making an older Batman or Superman. Just as long as the other isn’t too old compared to the other. Best age gap would be around 3-5 years.
My biggest concerns about the DCU are the budgets. DCEU gave way too much money to the movies compared to when Marvel started out and already put themselves in a hole trying to profit. If DC can keep the budgets less than 185m then it has a better opportunity of making a profit and the money they want

I know the strike has been a substantial issue in terms of generating new content, so I thought I might offer a suggestion, if I may?
Maybe start a "DC Comic Book review" series, in where you pick out a random/deliberate particular comic issue on some of the characters that will be appearing in the new DCU and give your personal critique/review/interpretation/opinion on how that particular issue could lend itself either positively or negatively to the character, or the overall potential arch of the new underlying story of the DCU. Or just how that particular story could/couldn't be something we potentially see, and if so, why/why not?
Maybe talk about certain character traits you enjoy/don't enjoy. Character designs. Themes. What you would/wouldn't change. Or just simply a crash course on some of the more obscure characters that we know will be appearing, and your opinion on the characters significance to DC/the DCU. I think that could help generate excitement about some of these characters that some people might not know about.
Maybe talk about some of the bigger event stories in DC comics, and their potential of being the main underlying story of the DCU. Or just do breakdowns of some of the comics that Gunn has mentioned as influences of the new story/films, and where you think the story might be headed, based on certain characters/events that take place in those mentioned comics.

I think if you make bruce in the ladder half of his 30s you can get all four main robins. Having Tim be there the longest and still being robin when Damian shows up causing the conflict between Damian and Tim as Damian becomes robin and Tim moves toward Red Robin
I honestly I really have hope in James Gunn dc world I think it’s going to be good
"The Brave and the Bold" (assuming at least a trilogy) can do the various Robin thing in flashbacks.
In my head I like to assume Bruce did a significant amount of time as Batman before Dick and was...say...30 or so when he took him in. Then Dick is in his home for around seven years, after he moves out within a year he takes in Jason (at 15 or 16?) and within a couple of years he's killed. Then sometime in his early 40's Bruce finds out about Damien. When Talia shows up with Damien Dick has been Nightwing for roughly five years and the Red Hood arc could be the main plot of the movie, that has a mature and stable Bruce being taken, somewhat, back to a dark place as he deals both with Damien and that history and also Red Hood as someone who's connected to him somehow. You can use flashbacks to get some history of the beginnings of "Robin", the issues with Jason's attitude and how he died, and some backstory with Ras/Talia. There's so much in this that you might have to do a two-part movie.
On top of that you have to establish Barbara (to me, her hacker side leads and she finds out who Bruce is and helps him as Oracle first before she's Batgirl in the field) and frankly, I don't see any room for Tim Drake and the other comics sidekicks in this story.
Also: Anson Mount for Bruce/Batman please!!
Also, I'd like a world in which Brandon continues to play Nightwing and in this continuity (the older Bruce scenario) Nightwing took Bruce's place in the JLA after Bruce left them (for reasons unstated for now)

It might be a good idea for them to do a animated DC Origins series just to straighten things out, you know give each character an episode to touch on their origins in the new universe. You can be 30 minutes and it could be 50 to 60 Minutes episodes it all depends on what the writers want to do with it.

All the talk is constantly “a DCU similar to the MCU or as successful” but the MCU started and built with origin stories like iron man and captain America, and sometimes had 2 solo movies before really connecting anything in a major way
I think with the robins u can do this. Have a scene in which Damian is looking through the batcave. And he see 3 different robin suits that each belonged to 1 robin. And than u can have Alfred come in and Damian asks “what are these” and than alfred says “these are the suits each robin wore” than have Alfred go into a brief short summary of each robin. Like example “ master Grayson was a child when he lost his parents at the circus. He was sad and lost until master Bruce took him in and helped him channel his anger and let him help find zuko the man who murdered his parents”. If u put something like that the hard core audience will already know and the general will at least have an idea of who the previous robins were and than from there some of those general audiences will have a friends who will know more about them
People assume it has to be a Batman title to tell the beginning of the story. It could be it’s something we’re going to see unfold in the background of other movies along the journey
Good to know that George Clooney will get his redemption arc as Batman in The Brave and the Bold, which is coming out 2026, will team up with David Corenswet version of Superman & form the Justice League, which will go up against a Thanos level threat and will have their Avengers Infinity War & Avengers Endgame moment!

Gunn has already lost the war before any individual battle even begins. As stated, there is a massive, massive dip in interest in DC movies. Probably less than 10% of people, especially in today’s generation read comic books, even the ones that do like myself will hardly, hardly care about the authority or creature commandos on and on - so imagine the “average movie goer” … and that’s what Gunn has decided to start with along with his other x amount of C list character projects. All the new regime did was preach The Trinity The Trinity The Trinity and getting that right, and then Gunn says hold my beer and announces Superman Legacy with 4-5 other, B-C list heroes in it, announces Brave and the bold starting with Damian Wayne who absolutely no general movie goer will know and will honestly probably majorly dislike as a character and a concept. Snyder got crucified for rushing things, jam packing BvS with too many characters and not enough setup/context/back story and he got run out after 2 movies. For the life of me I cannot understand Gunn’s thinking or WB/DC’s in signing off on all of this, I was hopeful when he was announced but he’s put 100 cart’s before the wagon in a ridiculous amount of different places and as much as I want to believe in Legacy, will personally go to it hoping for the best, I think it will flop massively, audiences will be confused with how crowded it is and who everyone is, and then wait til they find out Muschietti is directing Batman after the absolute dumpster fire Flash was, not to mention, again, the complete chaos of trying to explain and get an average audience to understand and get on board with a Damian Wayne Robin. This is setup 1000x more to flop and flop way harder and even faster than Snyder

My biggest issue is with the shows. Are they just going to be 1 season, at that point make it a movie, the single seasons is one of the big issues with marvel (which is why loki is the best) especially lanterns would be great to have like 3-7 seasons. So you could do big lantern stories justice, which is being able to do more of the lore is the only good reason I can see to have it be a show and not movies, but I only works with multiple seasons. And Paradis lost from what the described as kinda a game of thrones thing, but game of thrones is great because of multiple seasons. The rest can be one season but also could even be multiple. But they also said only 2 dcu movies and shows a year so that would have each season be years many years apart.

Unfortunately I’m not optimistic about DCU’s immediate future. It’s been left way too bloated, Zach Snyder’s director’s cut (which I enjoyed) being about as big as most casual DC fans care to digest for a while. I think it’s going to have to either be left to disintegrate and lay dormant for a while, or bring the focus back to good story telling and not so much on big-budget effects. Also bring in younger and newer, less well-known actors like they did with Christopher Reeve as Superman way back when. It also worked well using Michael Keaton or even Gal Gadot.
I don't think bat man coming in a little later is any problem, and you would think this guy would be hitting upon it better. The reason why is because we've all heard Batman's origin story about 5 or 6 times and movies. I don't think we need any of that again.
Batman is gonna have to be in the 38-42 range for age. Considering how Long Dick was Robin (age 9-18) as well as Jason and Tim’s respective Robin careers. The DCU is gonna be connected across all media right…so origin stories could/should be told through animation and Videogames. We definitely need a new Superman game and an animated series taking place in the Bat family’s past. Easy fix
WBD needs to bring realistic expectations in regards to Superman Legacies box office. Can't make the same mistake of wanting a billion dollars and then freaking out when it doesn't happen

I like to think Bruce Wayne started martial arts training as a kid or teenager. And started learning detective skills while in school as well. Or more likely when he was on summer break. I like to think that Bruce Wayne went to University for business management or something similar. He is very smart and probably graduated at a young age. Leaving plenty of time for him to become Batman by his early 20s.
I think the previous admin actually had the right idea. Focus less on universe building and more on good films. Dont try to replicate marvel when ppl are already burned out on superhero films. Keep the actors who audiences like (Gadot, Cavill, Momoa) and toss the ones who are problematic (Affleck, Miller).
Might as well recast the whole Justice League if you’re just gonna recast Superman and Batman. So in my opinion, I hope Mr. James Gunn cast…

The situation with skipping time and arcs with the Batfamily is tough for me because for a long time I’ve just wanted a faithful adaptation of Dick’s entire storyline on the big screen, but I’ve come to accept that it’s prob not going to happen in the new DCU so I’m just hoping they get the casting right and they do his character justice. Eventually if we end up getting a solo Nightwing film it’s also possible that we get some really good flashbacks that fill in the gaps, same can be said for any of the other Batfam members. Also I still have hope that Matt Reeves will deliver us a great adaptation of Dick’s journey in his upcoming movies
In itself, I don't have a problem with the fact that the Batfamily already exists, and so much history has already happened before the first film kicks off with the narrative. Theoretically, you could also show all the Robin stories in a video game. Gunn has mentioned that the video games will supplement additional stories between the films. My biggest concern is more that they will make Batman too old. Not old old, but I mean a too big age difference between Batman and Superman. For me, the almost brotherly friendship between Batman and Superman is very important, and among the best in the comics. When Batman is older by 10+ years, their dynamic automatically changes. At least for me. I hope the age difference will be a maximum of 5 years, which would be achievable from a timeline standpoint. If Bruce starts becoming Batman at 25 and begets Damian at the end of his training with Talia, he would be 35 when Damian joins him at 10. You can have the stories of Dick, Jason, and Tim as Robin set over a 10-year period. So, even though fancastings with Jensen Ackles and Jake Gyllenhaal as Batman are great, for me they are just too old already to be Batman next to a Corenswet Superman.

As a massive Batman fan and I emphasize this. I don't really want another Batman. I would have preferred Pattinson as Batman and him meet Corenswet's Superman later on
As far as Wonder Woman goes I think Paradise Lost will end with our new Dianna born and active in the world which will of course lead into a new rebooted Wonder woman movie. Gunn obviously knows how important the DC trinity are and I doubt he'll keep people waiting for more Wonder Woman for too long.

If the general audience is confused between the DCU and DCEU then they deserve to be lost and confused.
The same actor can play the same character without it being called a "reboot", if the whole story is new then so is the character.
James Gunn and Peter Safron have it wrong with the DCU. Don’t make movies. Not at first anyway. Focus on shows. Give us an amazing 13 episode Superman, with flashbacks to when Clark was a kid, build up the characters, make us become invested. Do the same thing with Batman and Wonder Woman, but don’t tease the other JL characters. Have them be apart of the present day story line. Focus on smaller regional events and then learning to work together. Give them the time to become a team we are caring about. Build up a huge presence on Max first. After a couple of seasons of movie quality series, have the plots converge into a proper movie that will be on screen. It will bring even more people to Max, and bring all of those people into the movies rooting for hero’s and anti hero’s. Do what WB did with the animated series but in live action, with strong named actors in the roles. Release the shows in groups, not weekly and not all at once. Do 6 episodes with a break and then 6 more with a break that leads into the next season. The shows will get the tone right for the characters like the comic books did. And if something seems to flop, well you can fix it more easily and keep it going. Give us something like The Boys in scope, not tone. Where you are invested in the characters. That’s how you differentiate yourself from Marvel. That’s how you keep it fresh. Do the major Crisis level events on the big screen in 2 part movies. That’s my opinion. Otherwise it’s just another group of actors taking up the mantles with people already not happy about it. Ease into it with series, and you’ll win those people over. The ones that loved Henry and Gal.

The issue I have with Batman the brave and the bold is that I’m skeptical about what kind of action scenes they’ll have. personally, I’d like to see John wick’s chad stahelski as the stuntman for the brave and the bold.
If it is a lived in universe with Batman active for a decade and Superman for a while, too, why wouldn’t there already be a Justice League ?
It's possible there wouldn't be a fully fledged league because Superman might have only revealed himself e.g. 3 years ago. There may be a trinity already, who knows. I just don't think there's anything too fleshed out as Superman is in his early years, albeit not an origin tale.
The Brave and the Bold should pull a lot of inspiration for there screenplay from the animated Son of Batman movie. Have Dick be Nightwing, Jason is dead and Tim is a newly become Robin when Damian arrives and tries to take the roll. I’d love a battle for the cowl but instead it’s for the Robin role

The Batman Superman age gap, as petty a fan-gripe as it is, has boggled my mind since the Damien Wayne announcement. I understand and even agree that we already have a young Batman so why not have one in his prime in the DCU. The problem for me is the seeming indecisiveness. Gunn wants to have a fully established bat family while also having Batman be “a few years” older than 30 year old Superman. That means they’re likely skipping Tim Drake (who I really like as a character despite him being pretty unpopular among most fans). To be fair, if I were told by execs “we’re doing Damien and Batman is around 35” I would reluctantly skip Tim and have Jason die the year prior, leading batman to swear off sidekicks until Damien shows up and needs moral guidance to pull him out of his killer ways.
I think if done right the DCU could go the route of the Batman. Never explicitly showing the death of Waynes but you can feel the impact being there. There is also the possibility of flashbacks (used sparingly) but I'd like the rich history of Batman's career maybe be implied and conveyed through the actors, atmosphere and props. Sort of like what was done with the Robin suit in BvS. Only difference being is that they'll need lean more into those scenes so it doesn't feel glossed over. Don't dwell on it too much. Like I can see Jason post Joker beating having to go on a mission with Joker involved and it's conveyed that he very much holds so much hate and killer intent in his eyes with Batman setting him aside to readjust him. IDK that if this the right words or way to go about it but it's an just an idea. Love the discussions people have in these comment sections and the video BOBA.

Here’s the thing about doing Batman, this far along, God is going to be able to tell stories that have never been done before because every time a new version of Batman can belong. They start back at the beginning. So I’m all for getting some of the more gritty experience stories that comes with starting off at this period of time.

Im wondering if they want an older batman i figured somewhere 5-10 years in his career. I can see 10-12 though. Maybe we already see dick grayson maybe a year or 2 in his role as nightwing. Within a year or 2 of that have jason todd flashbacks maybe but maybe when these films start jason is already/ still dead. Maybe his active robin is tim drake where we start off. Introducing damien wayne to tim and dick, and leave the story open for jasons return. With them both having connections to the Rhas al Ghul. It would be cool to see the ressurection and return of jason/ red hood, and see a proper live action league of assassins and lazarus pit and a rhas whose a real physical and overwhelming threat.
Also get rid of viola davis. Shes not a good waller. Its a new universe. Give C.C.H. Pounder her live action role as waller that she deserves. She would kill it and has already been Waller for decades. They want the whole (voice actors are the live action actors) well there ya go

We're not assuming, Gunn and Safran said there would be some degree of Batfamily established already. But I will say that it might not be adapted as chronologically as people think.
I really hope they do a good Superman movie, I didnt really care for the Batman, it wasnt bad and I can see why alot of people liked it, just wasnt my thing, and if Superman has the same impact on me, it will probably turn me off to all the future movies, and I really want to enjoy this universe

As I said in the vid, I don't think Gal was lying about what she said in her interviews tbh. But it's possible that they wont keep her on despite that. I personally see both sides from fans perspectives. When you're launching a 'new DCU', you somewhat would associate the new brand with the old brand if you kept on one of the main faces from the DC trinity, Wonder Woman. So keeping Gal on as WW isn't really comparable to characters like Peacemaker or Vigilante in where a majority of the general audience wouldn't recognise those compared to her. So I think that's why most people lean on desiring a recast for the DCU. WW84 wasn't well received but then again, the first WW was successful. I wouldn't say it doesn't matter though. But I wouldn't deny that a reboot of Gal's continuity could still work if executed correctly!

Im sure gunn is aware of gals portrayal and popularity as the character and like you mentioned the success of her first film was big wb also mentioned that films success i believe in there last earnings call? . I also in my opinion can see her being recast like the other cast she's to iconic and it's a waste to not use her not to mention she was the breakout star of the DCeu so like scoopers have stated I believe that's t there just rebooting her wonder woman and going forward which I believe is the smart move (just my opinion) thanks for the response 👍

I cannot ignore that WB/DC wanted a MCU like run, and then they replaced the leadership with James Gunn of Marvel Studios.. I think the DC we knew is not "going forward" I for one do not want a Marvel like DC I love that the two are not the same, but I guess time will tell.

It's not assuming, it's just applying some logic to it. if Batman has a Batfamily as stated by Gunn and Safran, he wouldn't be very young. Let alone with his son, Damian coming in. If Bruce returns to Gotham at 25, he could maybe be 35-37 in the movie if they wanted to stretch things. But he wouldn't have a much fleshed out Batfamily at that age. So if they want to keep him early to mid-30's, they'd be skipping over quite a bit and adapting things pretty differently with regards to Batfamily chronology. Also veteran doesn't mean 'old man Batman', just means he's seasoned, experienced/been doing it for multiple years already since 26 years old.
