    We have standard RF connections (50 ohm coax, PL-259, etc.), and standard power connections (13.8vDC +/- 15%, Anderson Powerpole.) But there's no such standard for microphones, headphones, or PTT. This leads to a "full mesh" of adapters between headsets and radios, which can be a problem in multi-user situations like EOCs, club stations, Field Days, etc.
    I present the Open Headset Interconnect Standard, an open standard defining a physical and electrical standard interface, allowing easy portability between headset and radio, and a common interface for "middle-ware" device manufacturers.
