- In this video, I’ll go over what I use day-to-day while fishing for trout. I’ll be covering a drop shot rig how to set it up and give an example of some of the one of my biggest catches using it

anyone that doesnt have anything good to say can kick rocks....just goto some other channel and spread your hate somewhere else
I’ve caught more trout this year with that same cheap 10 dollar rod from Walmart than anything else, It’s paid for its self with the amount of fish I’ve caught.
This is the best explanation of drop shot rigging that I have found. Wish I could fish with you for a few days. Awesome video!
Thanks for the comment and im happy it helped
That’s a good demonstration on setting up a drop shot. You officially do not need to preface your experience. I have been fishing for 50 years and I have been throwing the drop shot for 30 years. For whatever reason I did not even consider using a drop shot for trout. That was a true hog of a trout. I learned that from you. Thank you. 👏🏿👏🏿🎣
🫡 I appreciate the thoughtful comment. That means a lot coming from someone with a lot of experience. Happy to help.
Thanks for letting people know you dont need fancy gear to catch trout. I been catching for years on ONLY Wal Mart(Berkeley jigs yellow and white, grasshopper ,minnows and Brown trout spoon) Key to success..... Is just getting out there guys. Find the time👍. Great video.
My man, just found your channel and love It! Quick question on your setup, any reason why don’t do some type of dropper loop with the split shot or a version of? Are you concerned with jig wrapping around line? Thanks!
Thanks for the video man! I'm new to fishing and have been trying my hand with powerbait/a carolina rig up in silverwood for the last couple months as well as other places in the high desert and so far no trout. I'll definitely be trying my hand at jigs the next trip out. My brother lives right across from Guasti so I definitely gotta try it out
That was a THICKUMS of a trout. Gonna try this next time I go out for sure
🔥🔥
That’s what I needed thank you sir. New to fishing 😅
What is your preferred line brand? All line is not created equal. One manufacturers 2lb test diameter might be different from the next.
I use izor 2lb in clear. Affordable so you can spool fresh line every other trip out. One of my buddies uses only fluorocarbon and on very hard days he sometimes can get one , while I watch.
I have a setup with braid to fluro but sometimes don't bother to bring it. I'd recommend against braid setups for beginners. Seen a person have a terrible time with loose braid on his setupe. Wind knots and braid getting caught up on the gear. Told him that some of the cheaper rods do not do good with braid. The guides on thier placement on the rod actually matter.
Thanks for the thoughtful comment. I prefer izer. Some of my fishing buddies told me about Izer and I haven’t had any issues with it. I don’t like braid for ultra light setups. It seems like more trouble than it’s worth
You are right about the correct pound test. I mainly go for bass, but I'll even throw a crank on 4lb test. When they hit, they'll set the hook themselves on light line. Use your drag and backreel if need be. I do the same thing with my hand made tubes and trout worms. I use a light 3 way swivel and use about a 10" leader for the mosquito hook. No weight needed if you're drop shotting. You need to start pouring your own lead. You save so much money. The #7 line lock swivels are dirt cheap these days. Good video as always.
Yea I know. I moving more towards working with bait makers. Working something out as partnership
I throw a PB&J Ned rig on a dock runner pole from Walmart backed with 10lb braid an 4lb fluorocarbon
Nice bro!!! Sound like a sick setup
@@thecsickfisherman I fish current river mo. It's pretty tight . The 3 foot medium action is perfect for jigging the river with a lot of trees around.
