- This is the latest video in my series of Dark Shadows actor & and actress tributes. This time it is the lovely and talented actress, Lara Parker, who portrayed the evil witch Angelique (among other characters) on the gothic soap opera. I've used most of these photos in my other DS videos..but decided to group them here in as tribute to this amazing actress. I hope you enjoy this...please rate and comment if you do! I loved Dark Shadows & all the actors & actress's equally, but I'll be damned if I can't shake off the fact that Lara Parker was my favorite villainess. She portrayed evil incarnate to the tee & it didn't hurt that she was strikingly beautiful, plus she was a top notch actress in movies like "Save the Tiger & Race with the Devil," who's talent went unappreciated & underused by the Hollywood studios. This is a great tribute to a wonderful actress! Thanks Baron! Yes, I did have a crush on her.
Lara as Angelique basically made the show, and not just on her looks as she was a highly skilled actress as well.

I used to get home from school, get a fudgical out of the freezer and watch Dark Shadows. I told my neighborhood friends about it. I was there when they watched their first episode. They said "Its a soap opera, no way. I told them just hear the story forget about stereostypes. At the end of their first show-THEY WERE HOOKED! It was now ALL of our daily ritual... And these were mostly guys.

I've guess that you're right about that, James Hightower. they've just don't make Dark Shadows like they've use to as back in the 1960s they've need to go back and really relive back in them days to really know about these DS days.

I have said it before and I will say it here again; while Laura Collins is my favorite villeness in DS--Lara Parker was the greatest horror actress in history of TV and is long overdue for the TV Hall of Fame.
Such a beautiful woman. One of the reasons I watched the show.
Radiantly beautiful still in 1992, Parker would have been young enough for Alexandra Spaulding's romances, just old enough to play Vince Iziarry's mother, maternal enough to convince a long-lost son of her love, and fiery enough to intimidate any corporate boardroom. Thus, Lara Parker would have been the one actress keeping me watching Guiding Light when the incomparable Beverlee McKinsey would not be persuaded to stay. If only someone at Procter & Gamble had known then what I know.

She was a very beautiful woman and still is very attractive for an older lady....she has obviously looked after herself very well or/and has very good genes....I am very surprised that she and some of the other actresses on Dark Shadows didn't go on to become big movie stars...there were so many gorgeous women on that show...I can't actually think of one that could be considered unattractive

To many posts to find about DS and Lara. I found it earlier today that Lara Parker passed a few days ago. Was announced today officially. Had mer her over the years at DS Festivals 1989-1996. Such beauty gone from this world. Her and Kathryn were friends for over 50 years.
I thought she was one of the prettiest actresses ever on tv. I don't recall knowing anything about her beyond "Dark Shadows".
She is a great actress and beautiful and those eyes. She always scared me she was such a wicked wicked witch.

RMPenta, Kind of confused by your response. I addressed her killing Sarah and her hatred of Josette was absurd, Josette never did anything to Angelique! So are saying that Barnabas was not at all to blame for seducing and abandoning Angelique?
Jane Doe Barnabas did treat Angelique like crap....he basically used her and dumped her...on the rebound from Josette....I actually felt a bit of sympathy towards her at first but not later on when she was murdering left, right and centre..

Angelique is my girl! As a Woman Betrayed, I FEEL HER RAGE! HOWEVER, SHE DID GO WAY TOO FAR! She harmed innocents, a child for Goddess's sake! A real Witch, which I am, would NEVER harm a child! But Barnabas deserved a major butt-kicking, but turning him into a vamp and making him hurt lots of other innocents, not OK!
Baron, I know I have been taking some shots at the DS writers and producers lately and even at Lara Parker also--but as much as think Diana Millay's character was more interesting and original than Parker's and Millay did a fantastic job of playing Laura-as a general proposition Lara was really incomparable as a horror actress--it was hard for her to be on screen and not be scary. I do think that the Phoenix got the bum's rush in the 1897 storyline--I also think it is clear that at full power
Yes, and I especially liked the DS episodes where Angelique (and her boss Lucifer) squared off against Laura Murdoch (the human phoenix played by Diana Millay, and her boss was Ra the Egyptian sun-god.) I was pleased to see that the eventual victor was Angelique!

The Phoenix could defeat Quentin, Barnabas, and Angelique. I reviewed some episodes and see she was quite weak at the end and without the sacred scarab; an interesting tag match: Nicholas and Angelique vs. Laura and Count Petofi.

Marilyn Willett Charlize is an oscar winning actress who has starred in many big movies and she is a world famous model so I'm absolutely certain she will still have fans in 50 years time...As for Lara never flubbing a line well yes that maybe true but the lovely Nancy Barrett was the best actress on DS for never forgetting her lines, I don't think I ever saw her forget her lines once....I agree with your comment on Johnny Depp though.

Marilyn Willett Actually the only people who really mention Lara Parker at all are mainly DS fans however seeing as Charlize Theron is a world famous film star who also does international modelling campaigns I'm pretty certain there will be people talking about her in 50 years and so on....I see you edited out your criticism of Charlize Theron lol
@SecretWife56 Wrong; she helped kill Sara Collins; how about driving Josette off the Widow's Hill-don't sanitize the character of Angelique.
I haven't seen all of the episodes and I never watched it back then, but where did A. make Sarah run out into a storm? that's what took her life right? also Angelique did warn Josette what she would like after being a vampiress living in the dark, I think that portrayal was accurate.
Marilyn Willett if i remember correctly (and please correct me if I am wrong as it's been a while since I saw the episodes) Sarah was missing Barnabas and one night she saw him from her bedroom window (after Angie turned him into a vampire) so she ran outside to go and find him...however she couldn't find him and after a while she ended up in the mausoleum, shivering and cold during a storm and Barnabas found her in there after he had bitten someone but Sarah ran away from him because he had his victims blood dripping/running down his face...Sarah then hid behind a grave so that Barnabas couldn't find her because after she saw him with all that blood she was terrified of him....now Barnabas wouldn't have unintentionally scared Sarah with his victims blood all over his face if Angie hadn't turned him into a vampire in the first place so Sarah would never have run away from her big brother and stayed out in the storm trying to hide from him....she had also not long before been very close to death due to Angie practising witchcraft on her and refusing to lift the near death spell on Sarah unless Barnabas did exactly what she wanted....Sarah was obviously a vulnurable innocent child whom Angie quite readily very nearly killed..this must have made Sarah a bit more vulnurable to the elements when she was out all night in the storm hiding from Barnabas...if it hadn't been for all the harm Angie did Sarah would not have ultimately died...her treatment of Sarah was what really made me hate the character of Angelique...although I do think Lara is an excellent actress as her portrayal of Angelique was very convincing, she did a great job on Dark Shadows
Marilyn Willett Angie wanted Josette dead...she made no secret of that fact....she hated Josette purely because Barnabas loved Josette and not Angie...why do you think she lured Josette to Widow's Hill in the first place?...she was jealous of her and wanted her completely out of the way but she didnt expect Barnabas to love her so much that even after she died he still pined for her and would never accept Angie as a substitute
True but it was Sara's choice to go running outside, I know A. is guilty of everything else however let's face it--the writers wanted to kill her off. Kids probably died left and right in 1795, due to storms etc.
Angelique should have just set her desires on another man. BARNABAS IS MY ONLY reason for watching D.S. however if a man doesn't want you just let him go. Josette did scream to Barnabas ''I know what you are !!- I don't want that !!--'' in the final analysis she did not want to be a vampire like him. Also he was ridiculous to hold onto his cane instead of grabbing her in her hysteria. I also believe Josette never loved him AS MUCH as he loved her. Remember Julia said that to him?
