- After my post of Boris, many asked I should do a review of the bow he was using :)
Okay, here we go. A almost full fletched review of the Archery Set for Kids from Decathlon.
It is 40 Euros or Brit. Pounds, but is it any good?
Let’s find out

As humorous as this is I do appreciate a pro looking at this. This is what my boys 5 & 6 used recently and now they want to have a go at home. Ive got a small backgarden so obviously im not going to be using any steel tipped arrows etc so this video does have its place. As a parent, thank you.
Got one of these for the kids. It turned out to be my gateway into archery.
This was my first bow. Although I have many bows now, I still go back to this from time to time because I don't know it has a certain charm to it.
Sensei is a legend for covering a kid's toy! Very enjoyable content.
Spine 5000 😂
I'm not sure...but I get the feeling you don't like Boris very much 😁
In any case Armin, you should leave this stuff to the professionals
Now, that was fun. Boris changed my whole perspective of archery, now i only want to shoot this takedown bow with plastic arrows - from horseback (using takedown plastic horse), 10 meters. Maybe piggyback - not for beginners, tho. Woah. Thank you for the professional review, really enjoyed the humor ^^
"And now for something completely different, ...." And you did it with a straight face almost to the end! Great follow up to the Boris vid!
Had this one for my kids..he started with this last year n now can shoot with the next version of bow from decathlon where the arrow pass on both side (like normal trad bow but have groove on both arrow pass so the arrow won't fall) and yeah he enjoyed it..he 3 years old now and can shoot up to 10m now just for fun..n now for this bow I'm using it as my kepaze bow which help me a lot tho 😊 anyway again its like you said it is suitable for fun and most important thing SAFETY to our kids and neighborhood especially during MCO period ✌️
This made my day way better!🤣
Will you send this one to the House of Commons so they can finally attack each other properly in the debates? 😂
We don't have this Set with the center hole, but the Decathlon "Discovery Junior Red" for 14,99€. It also has an ambidextrous handle (without hole, more like the snake actually). And does not look so recurve-y. We also shoot the sucker-arrows and my 5-yo daughter can do it safely (she is left handed). And i have fun shooting it thumb-style, or two arrows at once, or with a sword in my hand... Yeah, I guess I should stop watching Turkish Historical Drama TV or upgrade to... to a Rolan Snake...
I don't discuss politics, but I think this was incredibly funny, witty, and you made point. Well done sir.
not only it is professional equipment, but in the right hands it can also properly play Smoke on the Water.
What is not to like?
bought these bows for my granddaughters in 2018 £15 + £5 for three arrows, stuck a 40cm target in the shed window. they had countless hours of fun. hen they stopped missing i bought them proper bows and field arrows and foam targets.
Great review lol and loved seeing those arrows drop into the bale at longer range lol. But yes this is only really good for a BBQ party
I am not a kid and my 1st time to exercise with archery sport. It is really works well with me as a newbie. ☺
My 6 years old son has this Decathlon bow, and my 10 years old dougher has a short Snake. Armin, I mostly agree with you that Decatlon bow is for fun, while Snake, even short one, is a real bow., but not at all. This Decathlon bow allows me to leave my son shoting alone, without worrying that he'll injure somebody. As a result my son can shot more often as he doesn't depend on my ability to stay close and keep an eye on him. So in my opinion at's a good choice for parents who want to instill interest in arhery into their kids.
This video is amazing. Thank you for this.
Love your review. You have a lot of measurement tools like the speed detector. Great reviews. I am laughing all time when watching your review.
perfect for a kid or a Tory politician with the mind of one!
It plays the most iconic riff of all times... I say it's well worth the price :D
boris the olympian =D too good video haha. i had similar bow when i was 6-7. boys are boys so of course we took the rubber arrow tip off and added a darts tip with tape. target was our cabin door so all it took was my mom opening the door and arrow hitting about a meter off of her for me to loose the bow. i wonder why. then i got easton compound bow for christmas to start safe archery =D check your kids they can do some weird stuff if left alone =D
I bought the aldi set to use in the garden, it's much the same, it did its job, 3 of my friends ended up buying sets too after playing with mine at bbqs. All now shoot regularly at there local clubs, one with longbow, one recurve and the other compound.
Just wish the arrows where longer, although the rubber point hitting the riser sort of works like a clicker...
We got this set, too.
Nice for kids playing in the garden.
The arrows could be a bit longer.
I sold all my equipment and got this bow, now I'm finally happy!!
good boy :D
Hello Armin. Not bad at all, this bow set. The drag coefficient of the arrows, of courses, is only suboptimal. But for a 3 to 5 meters range, who cares. - And, btw, shall we call you from now "Boris of Malta"? Anyway, thank you for reminding us "once upon a time there was someone on a former European island whom they called Boris ...". Wonder where this island swam to :-). Greetings.
I have the very similar kit from Lidl (or Aldi, can't remember) and it comes with one extra arrow. All the rest is the same. I have a boy who is quite dangerous with normal arrows so he is using this one and the other uses the Snake one.
This man said 2 Fast with the arrow speed. 😂 😆 😆 😆 I’m dying 😆 😆
All jokes aside i have this bow as a 23 year old only because i can only shoot in public parks where i shoot. I hope it makes my aim better for when i can afford to shoot my normal recurve with regular arrows in the future…
Sir please do a review on club 500 bow of decathlon
Sir, please do a review on the decathlon discovery 300 bow
Please please
Seems not available here :)
@@ArminHirmer I am super unlucky, I think it is only available in india
@@ArminHirmer sir if it somehow available then please make a review
The bow is completely new kind
Love the review! 😂
I actually have a very similar kit from Aldi that I use for archery sessions with Beaver and Cub Scouts, because I can set them up pretty much anywhere and without the same safety constraints as using “real” bows and arrows. The draw weight is still quite heavy for the smaller six year olds though, so I’m looking for something better.
You’ve actually made me feel really good about my Aldi kits! I DID look at the Decathlon ones online but rejected them as the Aldi kits came with three arrows at the same price. Turns out that was a good decision, as the Aldi targets are much more solid also, having a bracing bar so they don’t wobble.
Going to look at the Snake bows as a possible next step up, but as none of the Scout groups I work with have space for a range of their own, I don’t know how much use I would get out of them…
umm ..... I'm a beginner what kinda bow would u recommend and is a recurve 500 good or should I take the 300
I mean the bow exists to fill a very specific niche, and it fills it well enough
Might get one for my kids, great review Armin. Scratch that, Snake all the way.
THIS MADMAN PLAYED SMOKE ON THE WATER ON A KIDS' BOW. PHENOMENAL.
You are the Van Gogh of sarcasm!😂😂
Aaahhh BJ...bet he stole that bow took it home with him.⭕😜
I will give it one thing, that THWAP when the suction cup hits the target is quite satisfying. 4 points.
I just knew one of the sucker arrows were going to be stuck to his forehead 🙃 lol. Your a silly silly man Armin
It's good, but why don't you make a review on that geologic junior as I'm confused which one to buy.
Ohhh snap at the end of the video u brought out that snake. Whewwww yeah.
A nice Review, professional as always, Armin :-)
Re child's Snake Bow, what arrows are the best for it? Grain? Spine?
we use carbon, as light weight as possible, spine 800 or more
Thank you, Armin.
I have some small Chinese bamboo 5lb ish bows at 12in for the smaller nephews. One I converted to a twin bow & made miniature arrows. I was surprised by the difference the narrower arrow pass & lighter arrows made to the accuracy of the bow.
Question, completely unrelated to this video, but which could be the subject of another: if you were to keep and shoot only one bow for the rest of your life, which one would it be?
Tough question...I think it would be the strongest bow that I can shoot without getting tired quickly, which is my 58# Şimşek currently. So it's my "fun shooter."
Maybe all these politicians can come to Malta archery and take turns holding the target.
Besides the jokes, etc, why do beginners always go for the pinch draw? I've seen this many many times with people who doesn't have a clue about archery all go for the pinch draw and bite their tongue :)
I guess it is in our genes, like some native tribes still draw...
@@ArminHirmer Yes, it seems something instinctive.
Movies mostly
I do love this review it makes me laugh 👍🏻😆
I was hoping you would shoot the suction arrows from a real 35-40 pount bow 😂
underspined
@@ArminHirmer Just a touch.
I'm a 14 year old and a beginner in archery? So what kinda a bow would u recommend
And is a recurve 500 good
I wonder if you can take down a living thing swapping those rubber tips for lethal ones.
It's only 20lb
😂 😂 😂 😂 I died watching this 😆. Spine 5000, and u showed Boris 😂.
Ima stick with getting my kids the Roland snake from Malta. 😆 😆
I was perfectly happy with the bows I have, and here you go..... I must have this beast.
Hahahahaha
Nice review. :)
I have just one question - why is the bow shooting to the right with your pointed arrows?
I have the Discovery 100 bow too, shooting it just for fun as a form of a rehab of broken shoulder. When I use glass fibre Discovery 100 arrows, which are simply a 31" variant of your 'sucker' arrows, just with a pointed arrowhead instead of a suction cup, but with the same one piece plastic fin section, the bow shoots just perfectly straight, with no need for windage correction in aiming. But when I use carbon fibre Discovery 300 arrows (which are said to have spine 600), 32" long, with noticeably stiffer shaft and bigger, soft rubber fletchings, the bow shoots to the right indeed - in the 10 m distance the impact point is located some 40-50 cm to the right of the aiming point. What is the cause of this phenomenon?
The problem I see mostly with you shooting this bow compared to the master archer who first used this bow. Is that your shoulders are not near high enough. 😆 😆 😆
Puh! I was so close to get this Bo-Pro bow… but, yes, I think, the Snakebow does the job better 😁
Thank you so much for this entertaining and valuable review, Armin! 😁🙏🙏
hehe welcome... I wonder how your idea of full set with this bow would look like, quiver and arm guard (I mean historically correct of course)
@@ArminHirmer Yeah, I wonder too! 😁
Would have been fancy with big holes in the center probably 🤣🤣
Perfect…. need one… or two! 🤩😃🤪
The guy at the begining for some reason looked like boris johnson. Proberly the hair.
Hye Armin, can you do a review about whistling arrow after this.? tq. Have a nice day..😁
I would, I dont have them
Sir please shoot indian round bow
Hey Armin, have you ever tried a Kaiser bow? I've seen a Kaiser Eger at my local store and I am curious what you may have to say about it. Best regards.
Kaiser? Dont know, do you have a link?
@@ArminHirmer I bought it. I have no comparison to other bows except for the used recurve bows from our club and this one is soo much better. It feels and sounds really great to me. Maybe a bit heavy but i think I can get used to it. mine has 35 pounds and i shoot 700 spine (i hope that is correct :^)) and I measured that i draw around 30 inches. Unfortunately I couldn't find any review about this paticular bow or others from this brand.
Best regards.
It is a bow shaped object. I remember buying my child one of these, used it once then went to Malta Archery and bought a snake.
What bow is the black one if I may ask?
Snake junior by arc rolan
Finally Someone made a bow for, that guy in Australia, "Knew Seensay", this will Stump the Crap out of him trying to decide What side you place the Arrow. hahahahaha I'm crying.
Was that Deep Purple, Smoke on the Water?
hehe yepp
I see I'm not the only one with a compulsive need to play smoke on the water on anything with a taut string.
Great
这把弓箭是小孩还是大人的玩具呢?🤣
for children and my inner child :D
Man the arrow just disappeared
Would you sell it? I need one to learn pinch draw like the pros. Btw, I like BJ or at least his hair stylist.
considering it...
@@ArminHirmer zwanzig Mark? 😜
Hahahaha it's just the perfect bow ! I need one ! :-D
Haa?
For a bow, any old stick and string will do.
of course
Smoke on the water❤
What a ripoff ... I bought the LIDL version for some 20 euros and it came with 3 (THREE !!!) arrows ....
Too bad you did not qualify with this bow for the Olympics . Maybe next year ?
me? never, ask BoPro
4:10 😅
Smoke on the water?
of course
Khatra and string twist. 😆 😆 😂
No.
Did you say arrow breast at 19:45 🤔😁
almost.....
"Spine is like 5,000."
+1 for Smoke on the Water :D
lol you're just shooting 10s at 10 with this nonsense and I can barely hit the gold at 10 with a normal recurve or long bow... so much to learn, apparently. Must message the PM
9:16 🤣😂😂😂
Smoke on the Water:D
Still funny.
decathlon is not a good brand;
for this price you can have a better bow (on all the type)
bow for kids->rolan snake
perfectionement bow-> all ilf bow in this price category
compound bow-> genX xlr8 or mission hype DT
the conception is not good, the build quality is not good and the performances are not good
Soo no good? 😉
That's not true. I bought two pairs of pants from Decathlon and they are really nice 😁
The point of Decathlon is that they have stuff for almost every sport, of course you should go to specialized shops, when yo know what you want, but for trying stuff out it's pretty good
@@gizmonomono realy nice to play on your garden. But when you want to perform...
@@mariushoyt2131 I was making a joke, friend. I wasn't talking about their bows. But talking about bows, my first real bow was their Initech recurve. It was alright for a beginner, but it broke after only 3 months. So trust me, I know how bad they are 😉
The pants on the other hand, they actually Are good. Very durable. 😁
Haaaaaaaaa!
👍🤣🤣🤣
haHAHAH
