  • We wanted to push our SEMA car, "Track Attack," a 2017 Mustang GT coyote 5.0 L to its limits by bolting on the most powerful VMP supercharger we have ever produced - the VMP Gen3R.
    To obtain the best comparison to the original VMP Gen3 supercharger, and since Track Attack is still on a stock fuel system, we could only push it to the limit of 93 octane and BOOSTane with a VMP 85 mm pulley.
    Soon that all may change... the only way to find out what happens next is to make sure you hit that subscribe button to keep up to date with all our new videos and content.

    Looks like the Gen 2R & Gen 3 will be sufficient for 90% of the people out there. The Gen 3R is more for the folks that's wanting a max effort build, putting down 4 digit HP numbers to the wheels easily with forged rotating assembly and better fuel.. Street/Strip car = Gen 2R & 3, Competitive Drag/Roll Racing = Gen 3R.

Those numbers for the gen 3R are amazing Justin it's hard to believe it's stock. Love the car & the channel Justin have a great day buddy. RustyinOz

    • @VMPPerformanceTV
      @VMPPerformanceTV  5 років тому +1

      If you run E50 you need to upgrade the fuel system or keep boost very very low, say 12psi/85mm or 88mm pulley. The good thing, at that level, the car still takes a ton of timing.

      @@VMPPerformanceTV cool. I’m trying to determine can I turn it up a lil and be ok. I have a Gen 2 block in my 2013 GT with the GEN3R on it on 79mm and e85 at 837 wheel. Looking at 137mm TB and bigger CAI

    • @VMPPerformanceTV
      @VMPPerformanceTV  Рік тому

      One of the larger concerns for stock bottom ends is the piston ring gaps. As you turn them up and make more power, you produce more heat. This heat can cause expansion and eventually close the ring gap. If that happens, it kills a piston ring land. There's a ton of variables such as timing, fuel quality, etc that go into that equation. We've seen very mild set ups come apart and we've seen stock bottom ends make tons of power. Your best bet is to coordinate with your tuner directly who can review logs and tightly monitor your engine's performance via those logs.
      We would typically say you're approaching the limit of a Gen 2 for a usable and reliable level. They can make big numbers, but it comes down to "how many times" it can make that number and stay together as you get higher and higher. A TB and CAI shouldn't hurt you much in regards to longevity.

      Not an apples to apples comparison on this particular application. Track attack has a fuel system and various other supporting mods, allowing us to push it further. On an otherwise stock car utilizing pump 93 octane, you will see very similar results from both head units with a slight cooling advantage to Odin with it's twin intercooler cores.

      Maybe that will be the warmup for when we break the internet? In our experience, you can expect to see 20-30rwhp gain for each pulley size, in the 82-63mm range, the Gen3R is very very efficient, that is why the gain is so large from just one pulley size.

      We could compare it to other PD blowers, but that would get some other manufacturers panties in a wad, so we just compare our latest and greatest to our previous generation. How is picking up 34 hp freakn awesome? So for $4200 I pick up 34 hp? Bro only about 10% of the country has access to E85 so that's not really a wise decision for anyone to make. Considering 90% of ur customers run 91 or 93 pump gas its kinda a waste imo. Needs to more of a significant gain for ppl to buy this. Most costumers could likely pick up 34 hp with some exhaust dumps!

      Your not seeing the picture here. It’s efficiency alone gained that 34hp. That will make a huge difference on ethanol and max effort situations. For ex: Alejandro Flores put a video of up just like this but a GT500 running more boost. Pickup up little over 100whp just from blower swap. Again same pulley, timing, etc.
      Given it’s the same rotor pack that’s impressive numbers. The bigger the power, the more the 3R will shine.

    • @goodnoughperformance
      @goodnoughperformance 5 років тому +4

      I think you are missing the point here. This test was just done to show Gen 3 vs Gen 3R on relatively "low-ish" boost and the same pulley as compared with some of the other tests we have shown. Our intention with this supercharger wasn't to get everyone that currently has a Gen 3 supercharger to buy a Gen 3R. It was just to do everything we could to get as much as possible out of our supercharger from a casting with the same Eaton 2.65L rotors. If you are running baby boost and pump gas there is very little utility to spending $4200 just to upgrade from the older Gen 3. But if you are purchasing a brand new kit, the difference in price is pennies on the dollar and it makes sense. Or if you have a max effort set-up and you need the extra 30-100 HP it makes sense to sell your old blower and buy this one(which brings net $$$ spent down well below $4200).

      @@gforce_117 exactly...some people just dont get it...just like with na cars running cj intakes...oh it just gains 20 whp for 2 grand thats crazy blah blah...what they dont understand is it extends the powerband and greatly improves the average power produced during a wot 1/4 mile run or a wot roll race or what have you and it makes the car significantly faster than with a stock manifold. Once you do cams at least l&m intake only cams the cj gains that much more and works that much better together makes both the cj and the cams work better than either would alone without the other. I think its impressive as hell to pick up 34 wheel with the exact same setup otherwise and this is being compared to a gen3 which is also an awesome blower so that is impressive in my eyes. It probably picks up 30ish through the better part of the latter half of the powerband which makes the gains under the curve even more impressive...too many people just look at peak to peak numbers and dont realize the effects these things has on the car actually going faster which is the ultimate goal
