- Comedian Reginald D Hunter joined BBC Breakfast to talk about his new show The Truth.
Hunter has been on the comedy scene since 2002 when he was nominated for the best newcomer award at The Edinburgh Festival.
Originally from Georgia in the US, Hunter has been living and performing in the UK for the last 14 years.
Before the interview even started BBC Breakfast presenter Sian Williams was tickled by something Hunter said to her co-presenter Bill Turnbull.
RIP Bill you were a great presenter and man
Bill Turnbull has died ?
@@petejones879yep. A while ago now. Cancer.
@@petejones879whew you're late
@@petejones879 he dead
@@SnookboneNo, Bill's late. As in the late Bill Turnbull.
Reg is a legend. You can see why his humour didn't catch on in US. Perfect level of dryness for UK/AUS/DE.
Reginald D always comes across as a rather gracious man... (like him a lot).
RIP Bill Turnbull. He knew his way ‘round women.
Bill and Sian were great together on BBC Breakfast. Reginald D Hunter is the perfect guest I remember watching it live. RIP Bill Turnbul.
Sian and Bill were tremendous together... proper chemistry & respect.
☮️💚🙏
I agree mate - a great team and bloody love Reginald!
RDH is a massively underrated talent. A comedy genius.
As a Brit, I really like R D Hunter's accent. He presented a short documentary on American music from the South. It was compelling and informative. I would like to see it again.
One of a very few from across the pond that not only gets british humour, but does it as well. Top man
The british has humour? good one
@@naveedrahman6603 What a very odd thing to say.
@@naveedrahman6603Out of all the things you could pick on, this isn't one 😂 Especially when the most viewed comedian's on Netflix at the moment are British, most of the best ever voted comedy sitcoms in the world are British, the country that has made the most money from comedy per capita is Britain, the country with the highest rating comedy TV shows per capita is the UK and the country that exports more comedy show franchises to other countries than any other country on the planet, is, you guessed it, Britain!
@@davidholgate123 what people watch has nothing to with whether something is funny (good) or not. Just like there isn't any good british novelists( just because people have read LOTR, Sherlock Holmes, Charles Dickens doesnt make them good), it doesn't have any good comedians except for Stewart Lee. UK should take its mr bean and monty python and shove it up its ass.
@@davidholgate123 just because people watch something doesn't make it funny or good. Just like there isn't any good british novelists or books (the fact people have read LOTR or Sherlock Holmes, and it generated a lot of income, doesn't make it any good), there isn't any good british comedians except Stewart Lee
"Game recognise game!"
Oh my god, I love this so much. The fact that she can't stop laughing paints a great image of what that guy is like off-set.
she has zero respect for him. she doesn't respect the fact that he could re-arrange the furniture in her mouth
@@BOZ_11What (and I mean this disrespectfully) the fucking fuck.
@@BOZ_11 ?????????????
@@richard6440 Yeah, that was a weird comment.
They were the best double act presenters on BBC. Rip Bill.
I like Delicious’s sense of humour, for me he has to be just about the funniest Yank on British TV.....
Scrumptious
Bill Turnbull so missed. Such a lovely man.
Sian Williams, probably one of the nicest ladies to ever grace our TV screens (As well as being one of the most attractive ladies one could wish to meet) and here, alongside Bill, they are the absolute cream of presenters on TV. RIP Bill.
I used to go to the same gym as Sian. She was smoking hot in person.
Mr Hunter quite witty and also seemingly the loveliest celebrity on the planet. Dude run for President in 4 years :)
Kernow Bashers
Sat and sank beers with him in a theatre bar in Manchester about in Manchester about 10 years ago. Yes one of the nicest guys you could meet. Very funny too
Sian & Bill were the breakfast team 😊
He’s got such a varied repertoire... seen lots of his different videos and he doesn’t seem to repeat things. Fantastic!
This man is so funny, and everything he says is spot on. I think he is awesome.
Love this guy...I'm Brit through and through but he really does the whole comedy thing for me...
The chemistry between Sian and Bill was so wholesome and such a treat. I used to watch them and smile every morning.
haha game recognises game
So proud he got his start in my home town. He is an honorary Brummie.
Seems like a really gracious and clever man.
I love, love, love Reggie D.
this man is so cool I'm a 73 year old he is so real of today please people be more like him we will all get on better for his out look on life it can be fun
I assume we're all thinking it, so I'll just ask: You still alive?
It looks like Reg's deep tones and disarming charm, gave Sian the fanny gallops.
🤣
Yep, I'm sure he made the heart of her flutter 😂
😂😂😂😂😂
Fanny trots? What's that? :)
Yours is the comment I was here for :) - 3:20s or so 😁
RIP Bill a great presenter
Hahahaha His face when she says thats the biggest laugh shes had all week...fucking hilarious!!
The Breakfast Presenting Duo. Miss Sian and Bill. Complemented each other superbly.
Proud he's from my city!
Smoked weed with Reginald d hunter years ago. Was after his set. He made a blunt with 2 menthol filters . Told me to inhale it deeply and then just blow out normally. Was the best feeling of being stoned I've ever experienced. Lol. He knows his shit
You sound like you know your way round spliffin
R.I.P Bill Turnbull 😢
Thoroughly enjoyed watching that, a surprised belly laugh.
Cool as the bear on a fox 's Glacier Mint, and man does he know how to charm the laydeez it's nice to see a natural Gentleman in his prime can still have a commanding place in the 21st Century!
"Hunter has been on the comedy scene since 2002" I saw him live in 1998 in the Roadmender in Northampton.
The Roadmender holds many great memories for me, as a Northamptonian. Saw The Stone Roses there.
Great comedian. Saw him live a few years ago.
I loved these two together, they were the perfect presenting duo 😁 So sad about Bill 😢
I miss Sian and Bill there the best pair on there used to watch them every day before school bring them back to breakfast please BBC
Why does this leave me in stiches every time I see it 🤣🤣🤣Just the first 45 seconds.
Don’t see enough of this guy
I love Sian's body language towards Reginald. She likes him. I mean, really likes him.
Wow man sounds like you know your way round women
@@BossySwan Took him a while, but he got there :)
She'd deffo get it!
Sign is a beautiful lady with a fantastic laugh yes I'm in love ha ha ,,as for Bill what a lovely man rest in peace Bill sadly missed ❤ ❤

11 years after this he was dead. This is how quickly things can change and life can be over.....rip Bill
Bill Turnbull: an Old Etonian everyone could like❤
BBC have never really replaced her ,and Susanna Reid,on the show.
RIP Bill
Best line "he dead". Oh yea I grew up in GA, USA.
+Ewok Loo I grew up in Germany and think that was the best line too :)
Should get sian back on breakfast, a classy lady 😍
"Game recognise game" 😂
Sian couldn’t take her eyes off Reginald 😂
Haha I love this man x
Love Reginald. Don’t see him anymore on TV.
I think he is anti trans or something I remember he twittered something a few year ago..?
It's not about the "mam". It's about the humility, of being seen. And appreciating her attention basicly. :)
Saw Reg 20y ago at a post-Edinburgh West End gig of three Perrier runners-up. We could tell he was onto something. Check out his Wilty and find out what the D stands for.
His pimp-laugh after it made it funnier
Gyrbae yes mate proper pimp style dirty and she loved it
Genius. Absolute genius!
R.I.P Bill
awww man that look on his face... priceless
Turn on the subtitles. Funnier than the video - as usual. :-D
Never realised how big Reginald is. Look at him compared to the others, it’s like LOTR and he’s a giant talking to hobbits!
Love the way "ladies man" dude seethes out the word "good".
I think it's probably some producer nattering in his ear to keep the show on schedule, keep it in balance and get on with the news when it's... a bbc breakfast program who really cares
Interesting guy.
What was the final thing he said in that interview?
Speaking about the differences between stand up comedy and acting 'Unlike acting it's just you. It's you and if it messes up on stage, you don't look to the lighting guy or to the ensemble cast - it's probably you.'
i think ahes the only person who ever laughed at his jokes
he always reminded me of Lenny Henry both in his looks and his affable manner
Except Reg is funny!
@@paulmunt6258naughty 😂😂😂
Reggie D is brilliant I think
I was wondering this too, I think he says: "Game recognise game" as in "player knows player" haha I could be wrong though.
Hes funny
She couldn’t imagine that it might just be her.
Absolutely hilarious
Shes beautiful
Her body language here speaks highly in favour of Reg
He is one hunk of gorgeousness.
Am I the only one that gets turned on by Sian? lol
She is a real fox.
HeeroYuy911 I'm way more turned on by Reg :p
Nooooo you are not the only one 😝😝😝😝😝
Reginald Delicious Hunter (watch wilty)
Delightful laugh
This is the most American accent
Seems a genuinely nice man and I do find him funny.
Lenny Henry should take a look and learn something.
Tommy Cooper, there are various tales about his character. his amazing way of never being the one buy the next round of drinks,
Or singularly ' about that half tin of paint I lent you' when talking to a life long friend on their death death bead last minutes. True and not true.
However. Great man of the stage, loved by the audience of the day. Top entertainer, pre political posture stuff of today.
you can pause like 0.0001 seconds into the video and tell shes diggin him
Does the 'D' stand for deer? Always thought it might!
It's Darnell actually.
i thought it was enormous penis
It’s delicious if you’ve seen him on would I lie to you.
What does he say at 0.34 which causes so much laughter?
I think it is "i get recognised for saying it"
"Game recognise game!"
Like saying "Player meets a player"
Sean Williams is a fox! danggg!
I was thinking the same thing. :D
Sean?? Is this you coming out of the closet?
What does he say at 0:34? Sian is flirting too much to hear him.
Game recognises game
0:33 What does Reginald say?
Game recognises game.
Georgians might be right. He said Birming'M not HAM
People are arguing like stroppy teenagers down below. Someone said that RDH is one of the few who 'gets' British humour AND does it as well. Course that annoyed some Americans who had a go, then in return some Brits got shirty.
Let me unpack this for the younger ones out there....
I've witnessed US people in the flesh (friends of mine) having a tough time to 'get' British humour. After a decade or so, they do, but initially it's a shock. It stands to reason because for three or four generations, TV entertainment in the USA has been dominated by US comedy and likewise TV entertainment in Britain over that time has been flooded with US comedy and entertainment from Sgt Bilko in the late 50s onwards. Much like everything else from the USA after the 2nd World War (clothes, music, burgers, toys, sweeteners). Conclusion: The Brits 'get' US humour because we were brought up with it as have people in the US with their OWN shows (no one else's) blanketting their schedules. That's not a criticism of anyone. That's just a cultural and historical fact.
The massive cult interest in the US for Monty Python's Flying Circus was due to it making a breakthrough on public broadcasting where the viewership was looking for alternative, radical entertainment. What's more there was more chance of seeing a pair of tits. There was no chance of that on I Love Lucy or The Mary Tyler Moore Show. Like it or not, sex and nudity was sought after at the time not the taboo is it today. Again though, the Brits enjoyed our very own Monty Python predominantly because it was absurd, disruptive and daring (something that you wouldn't get from the US). It took a while for the US to realise what the 'jokes' were. The next big successful export from the Brits was The Benny Hill Show. A show where you could see even more tits.
The US were starved of out-and-out vulgarity. The coarse end of British humour hit the spot.
Even though the import and export of entertainment for both sides of the Atlantic has levelled things up, to quite an alarming extent I'd say British humour is still not 'got' by US people (or at least as much as the other way round).
LET ALONE....'got' AND 'done as well' as RDH.
Brits have all the time in the world for a gent with southern hospitality. It’s the crazy religious gun nuts that put us off!
RDH is brilliant.
You sound like you know your way round women 😂😂
Like an american Lenny Henry.
What does Reginald say at 0:34 please? I can't catch it.
He says "Game Recognise Game"... slang meaning it takes one to know one. In other words, Reginald D Hunter is saying he does it himself, so he knows he's right
@@BelloqProductions01 Many thanks :-)
0:36 Was that a fake laugh to push her over the edge?!
the one guy you'd forgive your girlfriend for cheating on you with
0.21..... The moment he died inside
"Good" with that tight mouth... Genius....
What did Reg say secondly and they started laughing again
'Game recognise game'
