This is the first one of these I've watched. He seems like the most pleasant man on UA-cam!
PS: buildings in Africa are just 'African'
True
The African American huts part was my favourite part of this whole video.
I'd love a worldbuilding workshop! Streaming would be cool too.
I always enjoy watching your videos tyler! Would love to watch your streams!
Your world building videos are my all time favorite! And yeah, I would definately want to see you live stream hear on UA-cam :) and the workshop is also something I would be interested in
Great video, can't wait to have a try at this and make it my side project over the next months :)
streams would be fun, good tips Tyler, keep up the good work!
your dedication to world building is really inspiring !
This is so far the best channel I've found in years. I cannot understand why he doesn't have millions of subs
Aw yeah, stream your stuff man, would be awesome!
The last one is really great. I love the detail, and the scale seems significantly bigger than what it was in the first iteration. Great episode.
thanks i struggled so hard getting the scale to where i wanted it.
Would be awesome if you started streaming, I would definitely watch
Hey Tyler! You are definitely not the only one who gets obsessive over designs like this. I do more character work myself and when designing a new character I usually look to making a bit of a mood board too to kind of get my ideas out of my head and get sort of a visual representation of what concepts I might be putting into the design.
I'm still a bit new at environment painting though and your videos have all be really helpful at putting me in what feels like a proper mind set for work! I have to develop a world that is set in a bit of a generic fantasy world, but covered "creativity" if that makes any sense. It's been feeling like an impossible task to visually represent the essence of creativity, but I think I have a better handle on how to tackle this!
As for streaming, I don't know if you've done so yet (I just subscribed today) but I say go for it! I stream fairly often and to be honest, no one really ever shows up to mine. It may help if I can get a good time to have it scheduled in. But when someone does pop in to watch, they usually keep themselves engaged, and on top of that, you may find you get a few people that ask questions and seek advice to bettering their own work! I get these viewers from time to time and it always feels good for me to fall into teacher mode for a bit, especially during a stream where it's spontaneous and live!
Hope this helps! You certainly have helped me out! Take care and keep up the great work!
I would love to see more of you drawing over sketchup models, and a little more on how to approach it, and like what NOT to do :)
Great work Tyler. Would love a workshop along with a streaming channel. I'd also wondering if you've tried Krita and or Procreate.
Amazing work. Congratulations!
thank you
This is something that I'm definitely interested in.
Take away: I like your approach to making the large scaled illustration before making the many more in depth illustrations.
This was great, Thank You
thank you!
african american huts ... XD
Awesome vid Tyler ma man! keep em coming :D
Shantanu C thank you friend.
this was so very very cool!!!
Hi Tyler! Doing kind of a call-out sheet for a city is a really cool idea!! I've been trying to do something similar for a world I'm building, but I've been working at the refined sketch for 4-5 hours now. Was wondering how long you spent on yours, and if you use any fancy tools to speed up your process, just stay patient, or if it's just experience?
Love how you show your process and the "evolution" of your world through this video. I was wondering, how do you get a handle on your level of detail knowing it's going to be viewed from kind of a faraway angle? Do you periodically zoom out from the drawing to see how it's going?
Pipestream2 yeah basically. I keep it zoomed out and don't go too far into details.
I would 100% watch you stream if I can catch it.
Hi, thanks for the tips! If s world -building workshop ever takes place, I'd be happy to participate :)
happy to hear that!
more world building tip pls
a yt steam could be very interesting maybe announcements on the BST discord could help with viewers : )
'African-American Huts'...
Nice job, though!
Do you use any line tools? Especially, for the curves? I'd like to know if you'd recommend using the pen or line tool during the sketch refinement stage if you're just beginning to learn. Would doing so hinder your drawing development? Should you slow down and get good at free handing?
Kyle imo if you're just starting out you should practice doing things free hand. tools are just tools to assist you in freehand drawing. it's the same reason why people discourage using texture brushes, it's often not applied in the right way, looks lazy and unnatural, and doesn't help your drawing. but i do think using things like rulers and the pen tool to get good lines are useful for drawing things in the right perspective, no matter your skill level.
Thank you. I really do appreciate your answer, this makes things very clear to me. I appreciate the time for your comment!
Kyle I did use some line tools for the ellipses as guides. Buts it's still all really free hand.
Thanks!
twitch stream plz!
I know this was 3 years ago but are we not going to talk about tha shape at 1:35 :D ?
I was looking for this comment hahaha. Interesting design!
Don't tell me I'm the only one that noticed?
I liked the video. I'll probably look at your other stuff and understand how to do persective drawings and landscapes in general. Atm, my city's are lifeless or lacking in any real details. Example of my recent work can be found at pre00.deviantart.net/5616/th/pre/f/2017/089/8/d/25022017final_by_johnway-db40rlw.png
Anyway, great stuff. Will make sure to look at your previous stuff!
U look like Tom Hardy
kinkyfella1994 hahaha toms awesome
Great artwork, but you're using the term worldbuilding wrong.
oh yeah?
