i understand using shapes and forms for hard surfaced( man made) objects. But for organic objects i just dont get it( like what u did with that character) and especially how do u come up with imaginary landscapes which has never been seen before. Do you combine different reference photos to create a new scene? Like i still dont know how Lord of the rings environment was made! how artists comeup with these ideas? i am a beginner and learning from scott robert's "how to draw" from imagination.
shazar javed I was taught to never completely make something up. It’s better to use 70% of something real world and create the last 30 %. Like lord of rings is 80% New Zealand and just exaggerated in some areas.
shazar javed yeah you always should draw from reference otherwise you won’t learn anything. If you make something up it will look like you made it up. You need to copy to learn design languages and fundamentals.
The video is quite educational and for an beginner artist like me it helps me develop the artistic vision. Do keep making these videos. I'm sure many other art students will find this useful too.
Do you have any bibliography that was helpful for you?
The explanation is generous. Good work!
