@Leonardo Resta because he's engineered his song output and album structures to maximize streams on Spotify. His worst reviewed album ever (Scorpion) broke Spotify records to be the first album to hit 1 billion streams in its first week, because it's got 25 tracks that are cut to make you listen to them all the way through instead of skipping to just listen to tracks people actually like. Spotify is a shitty way to measure relevance. His albums have been reviewed consistently worse and worse as the decade went on. I don't think anyone's going to give a shit about him in three years.

Yeah this album is focused on relationships or what not, but if you look back at his previous albums, they all had a specific "feel" to them as well. I'm sure the album after this one is going to be way more uplifting. Btw went to his concert in Boston on the 30th and it was amazing!
First off lemme say I think you're one of the best music critics on the internet. All I have to say on an unrelated note is I HATE how everyone is still doing the same like "Ohhh Drake didn't start from the bottom he was rich" THATS NOT WHAT HES SAYING. He's not saying he was poor and on rock bottom what he's saying is that he started at the bottom of the food chain. Like a new artist discovering their own type of music trying to make it big and now he's one of the most famous artists out. So shut the fuck up with all that "Drake didn't start from the bottom he's a rich jewish canadian kid" That's now what it's about.
almost 10 years later, drake half-assed a 21 track album with 12 pregnant girls emojis on the cover art, and a few good songs were leaks and one where he claimed to be a lesbian and sold 600K in the second week and held spot 1 to 21 on the charts while beefing with Kanye West sparking a debate on who's better, and NWTS is now considered the best of Drake and a classic record you reference whenever he releases something.. so yes he went from the biggest up and comer to the biggest/highest selling artist of the 2010s. oh and Frank Ocean goes MIA for the longest time.
too be honest, i'm a huge fan of this album. I compare it to kanyne's 808's and heartbreak album, which by many, was considered a bad album as well. its also one of my favorite albums lol. This album is very honest and very artistic imo.
This is Drake's best album, I've NEVER enjoyed drake's music except here n there on so far gone..his debut album wasn't memorable and 'take care' was mostly a pop-radio album full of features.. This album is up there with GKMC. His choice in instrumentals is experimental. his flow, lyrics, and delivery are all enjoyable..and he's actually RAPPING. No corny singing, no corny hooks. This album is personal and yes emotional..but feels like Drake found himself on this record..and I'm looking forward to seeing more of THIS drake...not YMCMB Drake.
I liked this a lot more than a lot of his other shit, and tbh Pound Cake and Too Much are dope, but this album and GKMC should NEVER be in the same sentence. Not in the same league.
Still flabbergasted that he gave this a 5. Production is fantastic, Drake’s rapping is quality and enjoyable for most of the project, and there are many memorable one liners on here. NWTS deserved at least a 7.
Fantano really made people upset with this review. So glad hip hop is course correcting and leaving this garbage era where Drake was a thing. This review is a light 10.

11:58 Anthony was PROPHETIC right here. As much as I love Drake's early projects (including NWTS), he peaked in 2013. The vast majority of songs he's done since have been garbage. I still can't believe Views, Scorpion, and CLB even got released because of how many filler tracks they each have. It seems like 2013 was the end of Drake's evolution as an artist.
***** EVERYTHING is mainstream!!! I bet you eat at McDonalds drink Starbucks and buy your fashion at American Apparel and you wear Converse or Nike shoes. MAINSTREAM!!!
drake is not that good of a rapper and he's not a very good singer either. and he's a whiny bitch too. he shouldn't be taken seriously. "started from the bottom" from what? he didn't have a poor upbringing and he was an actor so he made lots of money. and all he always cries about some girl who won't return his phone calls or about some girl who's gone bad that he wants to be with. he also keeps bitching and whining about kendrick lamar's control verse too, which is annoying. and he's soft too. he isn't on the same level as eminem, kendrick, kanye

I'm sure the album after this one is going to be way more uplifting.
Btw went to his concert in Boston on the 30th and it was amazing!
NWTS 5/10 GKMC 9/10 this guy is spot on subscribed
For once someone who compares scores that ISN'T mad at him. Thank you for the change of pace.
NWTS 3/10
GKMC 10/10 IMO
Steven C GKMC ONE OF THE BEST RAP ALBUMS OF THE DECADE
julian gutierrez No. Bye.
Wu Tang Forever needs more respect that shit bangs
Fax homie, only one who got it almost 10 years
We need a redux review for the 10th anniversary
The moment we realized that needledrop cares more about the artists' background/personality than their music.
Aka his entire opinion on Donald Glover/Childish Gambinos outpout
"Yeezus- an unrewarding experiment" this is the most wrong thing Fantano has ever said
Back before Yellow Flannel became a meme.
This is when I knew this guys ratings weren't accurate at all, not even ballpark
"accurate" as if there's an objectively correct rating for something as subjective and individual as musical taste

almost 10 years later, drake half-assed a 21 track album with 12 pregnant girls emojis on the cover art, and a few good songs were leaks and one where he claimed to be a lesbian and sold 600K in the second week and held spot 1 to 21 on the charts while beefing with Kanye West sparking a debate on who's better, and NWTS is now considered the best of Drake and a classic record you reference whenever he releases something..
so yes he went from the biggest up and comer to the biggest/highest selling artist of the 2010s.
oh and Frank Ocean goes MIA for the longest time.
connect was the best track on the album in my opinion.
MasterAquatics that song go crazy drake is something special sold his soul
too be honest, i'm a huge fan of this album.
This album is personal and yes emotional..but feels like Drake found himself on this record..and I'm looking forward to seeing more of THIS drake...not YMCMB Drake.
word, Abdul.
bmck3nney ayyy lmao
I liked this a lot more than a lot of his other shit, and tbh Pound Cake and Too Much are dope, but this album and GKMC should NEVER be in the same sentence. Not in the same league.
0:29 What is that song? I loved that beat
I really can't stand this guys reviews....but hey its his opinion
all i had to do was check the comment section of yeezus to know why you feel this way.
I feel the same way I dis like how he reviews albums I mean born sinner was not only good but it sold too but he make it seem like the album suck
Dakes garbage dude try listening to mf doom pro era the underachivers and Flatbush Zombies and you can see the difference in lyricism
if he thinks something sucks, he will say it sucks
Urine Denial Hes just your classic internet hipster blogger
I was a big fan of NWTS but I agree with his "there's nothing much drake can do from here"
I'd rather have an R&B album than a rap album from him tbh
Until you listened to IYRTITL and Views and realized there indeed was more that he could do
10 years later, still my fav Drake album
What he said about started from the bottom can apply to most of the songs on the album
Best drake album ever 10/10
nah
Ok, keep believing yourself.
Drake is the goat
@@theprinceofeverything1975 LMAO I just found you again

drake reminds me of death grips :)
lol
selena gomez
LMFAO
top kek
Gr8 b8
The album got better to me over time
WHAAAAAAAT TF WAS THAT INSTRUMENTAL IN THE INTRO ??? 😍💫✨🔥🔥🔥
A Whitney Houston song backwards, seriously
WORST BEHAVIOR WAS A GREAT SONG
Fuck outta here
Nah it wasn't great. Braggadocios, yes, but great? No. And yet multiple music websites list it as his best song ever 😅
I will say this: Hold On We're Going Home is probably one of my favorite tracks this year. It's wonderful synthpop-infused R&B.
A yellow flannel and 5/10 reallly doesn’t sit right with me
This review has aged badly, Pound Cake goated
@@h0t3L he really doesnt tho lol tf this year alone hes given multiple rap albums 7+ scores, drake just sucks
Honestly people saying Drake is the best rapper out of Canada yall should check out Shad, his best album was The Old Prince but TSOL and Flying in Colors is mad dope
agreed
he's a fellow london boy, seen him live and met him a couple times, he's good people
same chill guy and good artist
Snow is the greatest Canadian RAPPER!! BOW DOWN TO THE INFORMER!!!
^lol made me laugh but very catchy song though thanks for the childhood memories :p
Don't forget Madchild his underrated too.
Fantanos videos are really timeless. 7 years later and his videos still look the same.
MF Doom in the background... Damn.
Drake would be nothing without Noah40
And vice versa, 40 created his trademark sound to fit and tailor drake.
Oh how the turntables
11:58 Anthony was PROPHETIC right here. As much as I love Drake's early projects (including NWTS), he peaked in 2013. The vast majority of songs he's done since have been garbage. I still can't believe Views, Scorpion, and CLB even got released because of how many filler tracks they each have. It seems like 2013 was the end of Drake's evolution as an artist.
You are just as uneducated as him
Why is everybody always hating on Drake? He's awesome!
he's "mainstream"
*****
EVERYTHING is mainstream!!! I bet you eat at McDonalds drink Starbucks and buy your fashion at American Apparel and you wear Converse or Nike shoes. MAINSTREAM!!!
Samurai Sakura YOu shoud have said, "YOU MAINSTREAM!!!!" at the end of your post.
TheDefconsd1
Nope, I meant that Nike, Coverse etc were Mainstream... LOL
drake is not that good of a rapper and he's not a very good singer either. and he's a whiny bitch too. he shouldn't be taken seriously.
OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG UR SOOOO COOOL WITH THOSE NICELY PLACED VINYL IN THE BACKGROUND....did you know nobody uses vinyl anymore.
Who else got fooled by the flannel
