    Dr. C, would it be possible to obtain an outpatient position M-F and take call for inpatient PT on the weekends …just to gain experience in both arenas?

    • @CamelliaDThePsychNP
      @CamelliaDThePsychNP  Рік тому +2

      @Catherine Nicholson Great question.
      Yes, this is highly possible to get the best of both worlds. I would just consider avoiding any non-compete contracts that would not allow you to do so (if different organizations). Also, remember to take time for YOU to avoid burnout with such a demanding schedule :) Otherwise, I would say go for it!

      @clogg91 Thank you for your question and for watching. Yes, my program was mostly online. I would recommend if and only if the program meets certain criteria.

    Hello Ms Camila , I m doing PMHNP , but I have not work as psych nurse , working on Medsurg unit . Do I need to work as psych nurse for psych nurse practitioner to get experience? Hi there! Thanks for your question. I think there is value in being a psych nurse prior to becoming a PMHNP. Although it is not a linear transition from RN to PMHNP, there are many skills that you can acquire by working closely in behavioral/mental health. Some programs now require this. I hope this helps?
      Please let me know what you come up with.
      Best,
      Camellia

    Please talk about the numbers

    • @CamelliaDThePsychNP
      @CamelliaDThePsychNP  Рік тому +1

      @pete Duarte Thanks for watching and for your comment. What would you like to know about numbers? This varies greatly from state to state, setting to setting. This is not universal, which is why I recommend looking at the 4 things mentioned in video to determine where salary matches up relative to area (geographical location and setting).

    Hi Camellia it’s difficult to find as a job as a new grad pmhnp even though I have over 10 years in psych as an RN the struggle is real no one is willing to offer me a job…..any advice or suggestions please greatly appreciate it

      @Joe Thank you for your question. Firstly, congratulations on graduating and passing the board exam! I'm sorry this is happening, as I have not heard this recently. In which state are you located? What job settings are you applying for? Are you getting to the interview process? These factors could be playing a bigger role than you being a new grad. I would first consider those questions, then revisit your resume to be sure you are representing your experience. Some may consider telehealth in other states (requires additional licensure), if by slim chance your state is saturated. Please let me know if this helps or if you have additional questions. You may also PM me.
      Hang in there,
      -Camellia

      @@CamelliaDThePsychNP Thank you for responding! However, I live in Florida and I have interviewed for both telehealth and on-site. Yet, even with my professional background experience it’s not easy out here in the job market.

      @@edriguepetit Absolutely! This is interesting...I have heard about challenges on the RN side in FL but did not think that it reached APRNs. I'm assuming by telehealth, you have also considered out of state? What about preceptors or previous clinical sites? Recruiters on LinkedIn may also be good resources (Beef up your profile there if you haven't done so:)) I'll let you know if I come up with other resources. Keep me updated on your progress.

      @@CamelliaDThePsychNP As far as telehealth I have applied to multiple out of state positions and still come up empty handed. I have even subscribed in LinkedIn as well as updated my resume. I will definitely keep you posted as I constantly apply. Thanks again for offering to keep me aware if you hear of any openings.

      @ Tick Tock
      Hi, I am currently an academic coach for an MSN program (specifically for advanced pathophysiology at this time). I no longer work as adjunct faculty or in the nursing educator role that I was working in before.
      I may do a series in the near future on medications. Is there anything in particular about medications that you would be interested in?

    do you think $110K starting pay then 130K with no experience is too low for MA?

    • @CamelliaDThePsychNP
      @CamelliaDThePsychNP  Рік тому +2

      @ sandy s Hi, thank you for your question. Under my assumption that you are referring to the state of Massachusetts, it appears that ~$112K is average. 130K as cap seems reasonable but this varies based on setting and ultimately geographical location. I would vet out additional job sources in the area and compare, then leverage based on experience, setting, etc.
      I hope this helps some? Please reach out with additional questions.
      I wish you the best.
