- In the last few weeks, rarely has a week gone by when I haven't received a notification from Medscape extolling Semaglutide.
Cardiovascular benefits, kidney benefits, weight loss, better diabetes control, improved quality of life in heart failure patients-you name it. In other words, this drug seems to be a panacea for the worldwide metabolic pandemic.
However, when I view all these benefits through the lens of my experience with patients in Pakistan, a place where I have successfully been able to add lifestyle medicine along with drugs, I believe Semaglutide drives most of its benefits by just cutting the appetite and, in turn, decreasing the amount of unhealthy food. Imagine achieving all the benefits by improving one part of lifestyle-the food.
I do not mean to say that the chemical, GLP-1 agonists, have no direct effect on inflammation and blood vessels, a riddle that remains to be solved.
The question is, "Have we finally been able to pack the lifestyle in a pill?"

I am a nephrologist and kidney doctor who believes that the best tool to reduce the burden of kidney disease globally is not medication, lab tests, or even genetics research. Instead, knowledge of kidney disease can best protect our kidneys.

To fill this gap, I developed a blog for kidney disease patients, “Kidneyblogs.com,” where patients could find the correct information-and access a nephrologist for kidney-related questions. But then, I realised that not all Urdu- and Hindi-speaking patients could read English, and many preferred listening. This revelation led to the formation of the UA-cam channel you will explore.

Actually it was a lec for med professionals, had minimal knowldge before, new studies mentioned by u is great, as we dont have approach to costly apps, one again it made me firmly believe that HEALTHY LIFE STYLE IS THE KEY TO GET MERCY BY ALLAH.
Ji sir healthy lifestyle is much more complicated than lack of knowledge of patients or doctors. Please dont make this thing as simple as it looks to you. Billions of people are struggling with unhealthy lifestyle. So there must be some issue. And I agree no medicine is a replacement for a healthy lifestyle.

Sir Ozempic is better than SGLT2 inhibitors? Please reply can I use it instead of Dapaglaflozin for proteinuria I have hypertension and I don't have diabetes alhamdulillah
Nahi sir there is no research to compare ozempic and SGLT2S. Hypertension is a lifestyle issue, it is not a disease. Improve your lifestyle and your blood pressure will be normal.

Sir thanks for your feedback. This medicine is available in Pakistan, but I would only recommend it in severe cases and difficult situations. In other words as a last resort for weight loss.

In mid stage 3 who has no Suger his heart condition is well blood pressure normal and protein uria is normal . No protein in urine . Is this medicine can be taken . After watching ur video it varies patient to patient not for every patient . Pl advice .

No the patient you described in the comment should not take this medicine. Actually, no patient should take this medicine unless it is really needed. Even though we have seen all the hype but we have to be judicious in the use of this medicine.
