- "How to" oil and filter change on an Audi A4 TDI. This simple job threw in a couple curveballs with the sump plug and the lack of dipstick but we got there in the end.
Just to clarify a few details I shall list quantity and torque specs -
Oil capacity with filter - 5 Litres
Sump plug torque - 30NM
Oil filter housing torque - 25.5NM

Great job 👍👍👍👍
Excellent explanatory video
Cheers buddy! ☺️
Excellent video as ever, thanks for posting. 🙂
No undertray and a knackered sump plug? Main dealer at their very best then! Owner was lucky that new plug solved it though....phew.
What a load of nonsense w/o a dipstick. VAG saved what £3 per car? Bean counters before engineers again.
It’s back in next week for a CV joint so I will check and see if it is leaking but I’m sure the new plug will cure it 🤞🏻
@@AMSVauxhall CV joint replacement? Got to be a video there. Thanks Andy 🙂
@@wilfamos7314 would love to do a video on every job but time is always against me 😏
Could you list the tools needed for a novice please
Andy what's involved in fitting a helicoil? My worst nightmare in an oil change is a stripped thread on the sump plug.
There is a few scenarios but it’s really the last thing you want. Probably would be better to cut new threads. I will try do a video on a helicoil. Rarely use them nowadays to be fair but I used them often on VX cylinder heads when the manifold bolts used to strip out nearly every time 😏
@@AMSVauxhall Thanks man. A garage nackered the threads on a sump plug on my old Corsa and fitted a helicoil I never touched it though as I used a Pela for oil changes. Right after I fitted a new engine too, I can't remember why they were even interfering with the oil. I always felt the helicoil was a bit dodgy.
@@split_pin they are dodgy. I’ve seen the used on brake carrier slider threads (mainly VW) but as soon as you unscrew the sliders it pulls the helicoil out 😏
