  • This Mitsi WD720U-G was sent in because it had a LED warning that indicated "service was required". Very descriptive I know. Upon opening, I was greeted by the tell-tale smell of Endust cleaner. For some reason cleaning companies tend to use Endust spray and all it does on electronics is make a nice layer of glue to attract dust. It contributes quickly to ruining projectors. This one was already being water boarded as you will see. This video shows disassembly and cleaning. I also re-build the Optic module with a scrap yard optic assembly I saved from another projector. I DO NOT recommend cleaning the inside of your Optic Module unless its 100% needed. There is my disclaimer. Thanks for watching. This repair also applies to the WD700U and WD740U. They all use the VLT-XD700LP lamp with an Osram Bulb inside. If you need a lamp, you can get one here.

    Great video. By the way, it happened to me the same exact thing, with the blower fan. Man that think is filthy. Nobody really owns it.

      Thanks! Exploding fans do not happen often but it still makes me jump when it does. This projector is up there with some of the dirtiest I have seen. There was a set of sanyo/eikis from a golf simulator, some NECs from a school and now these. The water/ fluid damage is a new one.

    Hi Frank, I hope you reply because I was wondering if you know how to fix the vibration on a Mitsubishi hc4000? Thanks in advance

      What kind of vibration? Are you getting flickering of colors at all?

    I recently changed a lamp out of mitsubishi vlt-xd560lp but it is still showing white dots on the projection. What part do you think I would need to replace from there? I will try to open it up when I get a chance.

    • @FixitFrank
      @FixitFrank  Рік тому +2

      I do! You need a replacement Dlp chip. Those spots are stuck/broken mirrors on the DMD. You should be able to get a new chip pretty cheap.

    Great videos Frank, maybe you can give me some advice with my problem. I have a Mitsubishi HC 3000 and the color wheel blew up. I'd like to replace it, but the inside doesn't look like anything I'm finding here. Could you give me some direction to a disassembly video or instruction?

    Hey Frank, I have a Mitsubishi XD550U which looks like it was suppose to have three fans. But someone took one of the out. Ordered the same fan as the other two, but only problem is fan cam with 3 prong plug and need a 4 prong plug. Any suggestions??

    • @FixitFrank
      @FixitFrank  3 роки тому +1

      There is a good chance it only needs the three wires. BenQ uses a 4 pin plug but only uses 3 of the connection positions. It keeps you from mixing up the connections. I suspect this is the same thing. The service manual would say so for sure but if it were me, I'd try it. The only caveat to that is you need to know which side of the connector to use. You may need to verify ground/vcc to know which pins of that connection to use. Otherwise you would need to find a fan specifically for that model and position rather than just buying it by the fan model#.

      @@FixitFrank the projector has a port has four pins and tried to work with a plug that is 3 pin plug. and will not fit into the port. So i was wondering is there a way to snip off the 3plug port and change it to a 4 pin port? Can i send you pictures to explain

    • @FixitFrank

      You can repin the old connector onto the new fan. Those are JST(I think) pins and there are a lot of methods to depin and then plug them into the old connector. I have done that plenty of times. You could cut it in theory but it will be kind of messy. Make sure the wires are in the same order as the old fan. I would recommend de-pinning and re-pinning into the old connector personally.

    I also just replaced lamp when I turn it on it flickers can you tell me what I have to replace, I also noticed couple fans not turning on so I'll replace them too

    • @FixitFrank
      @FixitFrank  Рік тому +1

      Did you replace the entire housing or just the bare lamp? If you replaced the entire housing, compare the lens on the front of the housing to your old one. Cheap housings tend to use the wrong IR filter which will cause the color wheel to flicker. I'd wait on replacing the fans unless you have temp errors. They turn on when needed and may not run all the time. Get the flicker solved first.
      If you replaced the bare lamp and have the same lamp housing, then the color wheel sensor should be checked and cleaned if it is dusty. If it is not dusty, then I think your color wheel has started to fail. This is if the flicker is color flicker.
      If the entire light is flickering(bright to dark, not colors) then I would see about returning your lamp for another as it might be defective.

    • @liboperez5387
      @liboperez5387 Рік тому

      @FixitFrank I replaced the entire housing. I got color flickering would I be able to switch the lamp to old housing.

    • @FixitFrank
      @FixitFrank  Рік тому

      Try switching the glass filter lens on the front of the housing first. I recall that being easier than swapping the lamp into the old housing. OF course you can absolutely do that as long as they are both the same osram lamp. If the new one is a generic without any writing that says Osram, I would return it and buy one elsewhere. Knock off lamps are junk and end up dying too fast and potentially ruining your projector. If it says Osram on the back of the ceramic then you are okay.

    I have the 550u. The same fan that is messed up in this video. I have the same fan. But on mine it will start. And after bout 5 mins it stops and then it itll start and itll stop. Fan spins easy as well. Any ideas?? Thanks

    • @FixitFrank
      @FixitFrank  5 років тому

      Is it shutting the projector down? I know they will cycle with temperature sometimes. It might be spinning OK, but the tach sensor might be bad. These fans can drive you nuts.
