Just want to update here, the presets in the video no longer have the same presets in the game now, for example in Balance Mid, the textures are set to low in the video, but on the deck at the same level its set to ultra, also FSR2 is on the settings too
Trust me you were not playing at 30 fps most of the time if you played on PS4. I remember coming back to it on my old PS4 and being in complete disbelief that I played the entire game at an average of 16-20fps
@@thespacedisland5746 lmao i experienced exactly the same thing. I freaking loved it at release and decided to try it again a few days ago and it stutters so much it's unbelievable. I'm seriously considering playing it on the Deck instead because this looks much better.
Totally amazing how this game runs on steam deck. Even after 5 years, its still one of the best looking openworld in the market and with good HDR settings its like i need some sunglass to watch thoses sunsets ingame 😅 However its true you could have done your test in multiple others area like in St Denis big city, your fps could fluctuate even more in thoses conditions. I personnaly enjoying this game in medium/high settings targeting mostly 30fps.
Will the frames be consistent if you set triple buffering to ON and set vsync to HALF? This should not only lock the frames to 45fps, but should also keep extra frames available to hide any microstutters that could occur….at the cost of input lag.
I’m playing it on ultra settings at a locked 30fps on my OLED it looks incredible and feels fine. 33 hours in and I’ve had very few dips at all in frames
on steam deck just imagine watching a movie at 30fps while playing rdr2 at almost maxed settings. Since most movies are 24fps anyway this is a step up considering this on a hand held device.
Nice video m8. I have the original and this performs slightly better than mine but the difference isn’t that noticeable. Running balance at the 30 to 40 range. Cheers. 😊
Nice, I own both the original and the OLED models, and I'm planning to make a video comparing the same games on both to see the differences. From what I've observed, it seems like you're right; the difference isn't that significant.
Long Story short: If i want to play rdr2 the first time and also want it to be played on my decky, what would be the best experience? I kinda need 50-60fps. Is it playable fully? Steam version?
It's fully playable, but there's no way you're gonna achieve 50-60fps, best to lock it to 30 at mid-high settings and call it a day. If you really wanna stretch it you can push it to 40 by lowering some settings.
You have to remember 40 fps on a handheld would be like 60 on a tv to the naked eye, lower frames on the steam deck have near zero impact on the game (unless it’s low 20’s or below) and that’s coming from someone who’s quite snobby with how I want my games to look
This seems very misleading, I feel the beginning of the game like most games has some of the least performance heavy areas, I'm in strawberry and on balance I might get 25 fps, lowest possible settings maybe 33 frames forcing 1080p ultra maxed I was getting 16 fps
My experience is best at 40fps texture below ultra look plastic and bad and is made for ultra the rest of the settings can be tweeted to medium/low no fsr as it makes it look bad on such a small screen
@@nophacetech sorry for the SUPER LATE reply but, I got it fixed, I got Windows on my deck and I’m running it with graphics mods and it’s getting 30 fps with just a very few lag spikes, this is LCD btw.

maybe you have a filter set to not show you something like possibly you are only being shown verified steam deck games and GTA 5 is listed as Playable not verified.
i enjoyed the video but you should've tested the game in saint denis, since that's the biggest stress test, just testing it in the open really doesn't tell me much.
I can't answer that.. i have not played with the Legion go and to be fair it's the most tempting other handheld PC on the market in my opinion. just depends on what you want I guess.
What kind of games are you planning to play on it? If you like JRPGS and Indie titles just go for the deck. Both aren't perfect, but the SD OLED is really good at what it does. The Legion Go on the other hand tries so hard to be a PC, but in the end it's just dissapointing imo. Battery life sucks hard and if you really crank up the specs the fan will rev up really loud. Not exactly cozy gaming wich is what I want from a handheld device.
it for sure slows down in areas with lots of people and other intense places but not so bad that it ruines anything. Im not sure about the water issue i don't remember noticing.

it was no different than setting it up on a pc the rockstar launcher goes and you sign in just like normal. easy.
