It has nothing to do with screen sizing. In red dead you have to run fullscreen for HDR to be activated. The colors are more flat, but if you pick the HDR option "game" instead of cinematic, the colors are a little more saturated, but still not a punchy as with With HDR off. I like it with this HDR option on because the colors, and lighting looks more realistic IMO. Also, swap file to 16gb helps squeeze 10-15% better performance with RDR2
Great to know. I love that the OLED can do 45fps at 90hz. I look forward to playing this game one day, when I have the time. Thanks a lot for all the informative videos.
Just bought it. I guess so many updates been made on steamdeck that most of the settings i needed to adjust to get this fps were already done. I only had to remove vsynce and maybe ambient and one other thing. Also i just installed the rockstar launcher as it asked on the c storage everything worked smoothly. Im getting 60fps it goes from 40-60fps but i generally maintain 57 most of the time its rare it goes less and im on the lcd. Steam deck always updating fixing these games. I love this console. Oh yea im choosing to play red dead 2 over my ps5 cause who the hell wants to play red dead at 30fps???? Rockstar sucks for screwing PlayStation owners for this.
You may get a worthwhile performance improvement using 3.6 in the Beta branch. Varies by the game, but Dead by Daylight is one that receives a significant boost. Running the game recorder really takes a slice out of the frame rate, though.
The only problem i have with this is it´s dependency on a connection.. like i would LOVE to bring this everywhere, but i just dont always have a signal.
Changes the way a resolution that's not native is scaled in the Deck's screen. If you choose a 16:9 or 4:3 resolution for example, you can choose it it's stretched or keeps the aspect ratio with black bars
I'm looking to get RDR2 for my steam deck but it's pretty expensive right now on Steam. Is it recommended to get it on other platforms? Like, will it run the same way as with Steam?
Should run the same as the steam version, but setting it up requires more effort if it's non-steam. Personally, I would try and get it on Steam just for the ease of access

hey i'm playing rdr2 on steam deck for atleast an hour now on a new campaign and ive been encountering some game breaking bugs. for some reason sometimes cutscenes or character dialogue dont show up when they should not allowing me to make any progress in the game at all, all my guns disappearing from my inventory often, and even sometimes npc's models being invisible only showing their guns floating in mid air. do you have any fix for this?
Sounds like a very rare bug or glitch..I started on my 64 gb lcd with SD card when it was released, little to no crashes,…and I just transferred it to my OLED and little to no issues.
Hey santiago, try to go to developer settings and put seperate or seitch off 'unified frame limit'; noticed that you have your fps and hertz tied together. So at 40 fps you had 80 hz ? RDR2 has a great HDR implementation but the default settings are bad.
