Hi friends, hope you enjoyed this video about what the schedule of a resident doctor is really like. I want to know what your thoughts are, so drop it like it's hot in the comment section! (Oh and hit that like/subscribe button!)
Given how organized and proactive you are, what are the most challenging aspects about residency for you personally? You are such an inspiration and I really enjoy hearing your perspective!
Thanks for your nice question and comment! :D I think the hardest thing is two actually: 1. You have waves of feeling competent and then others where you feel you have no idea what to do. That can cause a surge of emotions of confidence and feel inadequate. It's important to remind yourself that this feeling will never go away but you will become more experienced with time. 2. Sometimes being a doctor is so much more than medicine. At times it seems my job is 30% medicine, 60% documentation, 10% social barriers/social work/discharge issues. So that can be a rude awakening if you have a few patients who aren't insured, don't have a place to go after the hospital, etc.
Thanks for the video... it's kinda reassuring tbh I do have 1 question tho.... Do you know any website that has all the work hours of different programs?

Thanks for the comment. Unfortunately not a resource for hours for all the programs. It also varies from month to month within one program.
thank you.
Can you please make a video on how to do rounds? Your videos are really helpful and fun!
Sure! Any specific portion that gives you trouble?
Just the basics to get started for electives. I am an IMG so particularly how to approach the patients is bothering me. Thank you for making videos :)
