Same thing happened to me. I got it shipped from Slovenia to UK and got it forwarded to US. After waiting for a bout a month I finally installed it. Went for 2-3 rides and the same exact thing happened again. Now, this thing is sitting in my basement collecting dust. Novatec hubs suck.
This exact thing happened on my diamondback release 1. Found the replacement ratchet ring and ordered it today. Hope it works so I can get back out in my bike! Thanks for the video
I'm not sure how to remove the ratchet ring. Maybe after removing the axle. Try knocking the ratchet ring out from the disc brake side through opening that the axle goes through.
I was kind of lucky that my ratchet ring broke making it easy to remove. You might be able to use a flat blade screwdriver to pry out the original ratchet.
The new ratchet ring works, but does still skip every now and then. I did end up getting a new DT 350 hub and built up a second wheel. I am keeping the Novatec wheel as a backup.
