A Reinless Ride across Bodmin Moor

- It is always very special to ride reinless on the moors with Comet & Albert and so today I thought I would take you with me up on to Bodmin Moor. Albert loves a good hoon! Pretty windy up on top of the tor but the views are breath taking!

A long time ago when I had my horses, loved riding bareback. One day bringing one (my favorite, a shrimpy little grade palomino mare) in for some work, I realized I forgot a bridle or halter - all I had was a lead rope. So I hopped on, with the rope loosely around her neck. As I headed in I was so delighted that she was listening to me and responsive with just the lead rope, that we went out and spent the day roaming around the 150 acres where she was field boarded. A few years later I was in a horsemastership class in northern California, where we were taught free riding (no saddle, no bridle, reins or even a rope) in the setting of doing show drills. So the horses knew the routine, I was sort of just along for the ride. But it was still loads of fun and learning.
Thanks for this ride along - would love to have access to your kind of countryside! I'd go outside to play every day!

I miss riding so much. Thank you for sharing. So wild and free! Magical! I went on a riding holiday when I was 15 on Widecombe on the Moor. It was awesome. I hope one day I can regain my strength and energy to ride once again. 🖤💜🖤

I wonder if maybe way back when eons ago if people use to live there?, i watched other videos in other areas of the UK, that 1000 years ago when the vikings were there, a huge area thats now moorland use to be a huge ancient forest that was cut down n burnt so they could build homes n farms.
