Claviers reminds me of rain drops hitting pots and pans right outside your house. It's soothing in it's own right. He's playing chaos in such a controlled manner.
Brilliant, it's lovely to finally take a look at the score. I generally assume that chamber pieces like this are probably written in 4/4 for ease of coordination, but to see how the rhythms piece together is still always satisfying. I'll never forget the acoustic beating in Métaux or the sheer volume of the piece in general from when I've seen it live. It also reminds me to revisit David Lang's The So Called Laws of Nature. Cheers!
And you would think the 4/4 would make it easier to sync... Claviers was a nightmare. This recording is so powerful in places, I would love to experience it live.
Flabbergasting, a triumph of rhythm. Stunning performance (did they use a clicktrack I wonder, because the perfection is beyond belief). Thanks for sharing.
Each player is on a separate click at times. I saw it performed live and the players were following a flashing like for the tempo. Polymetric madness it was unreal! So good!!!
Each movement focuses on a type of percussion instrument: Metaux (Metals) - All 6 players play an instrument called a 'sixxen', invented by Xenakis for the piece ('six', for the number of players, and 'xen' comes from his name), which 'consists of nineteen bars, of aluminum or bronze and steel, tuned microtonally (to an unequal 21-note scale built from 1/4 and 1/3 tones), laid out keyboard-style, and it is meant to be played with metal hammers. Claviers (Keyboards) - Keyboard percussion instruments: vibraphones, marimbas, xylophones, and xylorimbas. Peaux (Skins) - Percussion instruments with skins: bongos, tom-toms, congas, timpani and bass drums. Melanges (Mixture) - A mixture of all of the previously listed percussion types.
Feeling happy goats & cows all around me
打楽器が生命力と伝統が持つ世界観を、見事に彼の音楽に取り込み、全くなかった色彩へと、譜面化している!!!!
これは、すごいですね!
DAMN something by Xenakis that i actually REALLY like

Sexy perc. Agreed.

3rd movement is so beautiful.

@@yuggothrecordsarchives indeed, it is extraordinary.
Awesome! Thank you for uploading.
Quite good...
Supreme masterpiece!
I want this as my ring tone.
Yes
Shame whoever edited this cut off the resonance after each take/split
I did? This is the exact same as the original recording made by Percussions de Strasbourg. There is no resonance cut off.
@@RyanPower Noo whoever the audio engineer is. Video's great, you can just hear where they cut and spliced takes sometimes
@@jtchapman01 Ah I see, my bad! Perhaps my headphones are not good enough, as I didn't pick up on that earlier, but yeah that is quite a shame then.
What r the instruments that r playing???? I'm guessing bells, vibraphones, other percussion instruments and prepared piano??????

Hello, I am planning to write a paper on this piece for a class, anyone know where I can access the score (legally)?
nkoda has it, but it's a subscription service :] if you're with a university, the librarian can probably let you sign up through the institution :D
xenakus
good, so?
so you are blue and red. -lemonaid
Golden baroque music, i am continuo player myself. This is absolute garbage
Getting mixed signals here, how does this relate to Baroque, and do you like or dislike this?
so good...
