You need a new lift pump to you dexta .. lift pump is bad and pump diesel in to your sump ...or the seal betwin pump and frontcover is bad . Michell Norway..
    Good video mate 🚜😊👍🏻

I had the same issue with my dexta causing a hydro lock. I fixed it by taking the glow plug out then using a big screwdriver to crank the engine backwards at the starter ring through the small timing inspection cover. the diesel went out the way it went in but running out the glow plug hole. Now I always turn the diesel off at the tank tap when idle. Mine has a spring and ball bearing assembly at the spray nozzle which didn't do it's job. I've tried four of the nozzles with the small valve and every one has leaked. I've also tried fitting a clack valve on the 3/16" pipe the runs from the tank valve up to the heater valve. The spring was initially way too strong so i chopped it down until it seemed to be letting pressurised diesel past. The issue now is that the diesel loses pressure at the clack valve and no longer sprays onto the glow plug, it's more of a stream so it doesn't start as quickly and need the starter/charger to give it a boost in colder weather. I'd be interested to know if the Agriline valve/nozzle leaks. the ones i got were from APUK and my assumption was the all came from the same factory so would all leak.

On the older dextas (not new performance) with the pneumatic governor, if the lift pump diaphragm goes the diesel will drip from the bottom of the injection pump through the pipe with the loop in it, it shouldn't get to the sump and definitely won't get into the cylinders. I don't know if this is the same as the later mechanical pumps as fitted to the super dexta and new performance dexta. I can't think how it would though as the lift pump is mounted on, and driven by the injection pump and there isn't a direct connection to the sump, other than it going via the timing cover.

Thanks for sharing your experience! My thoughts are the same. Since having this happen and uploading this video, I have not had it happen again. I am currently working on a more permanent solution to replace the temporary one I came up with in this video. Cheers!

the earlier dextas had a shut off near the heater later ones with revised system like yours did away with it i think as it was no longer neeeded LOL
you can get the shut offs from agriline in uk you turn them on when priming/starting then off - its happened to me so i am paranoic about both tank shut off and the localised valve now

The manifold heater has a thermostatic valve which should only allow fuel to enter when it is hot. It's a baby flamethrower! Changing the heater should cure that problem. Also, another cause of fuel in the sump is a leaking fuel lift pump diaphragm.

As a random viewer, I appreciate you solving the mystery, Rob. I was wondering what stopped this from happening in normal operation. Much appreciated...

Not quite, the dexta has a heater coil in the top of the manifold and a fuel jet underneath, when you pump the cold start pump you squirt diesel into the coil o wire , its not the same as a thermostart like the perkins have in the massey tractors

To my dismay i have found diesel in the sump of my Kubota today, totally full up, didn't think it would get in there, water maybe from a cracked head or dodgy seal but diesel, didn't think it could get through the injectors but it must have, i will need to look further. just seeing if anyone else had the same problem and there you were.

Put the injectors on the pipes and test them in the open
