It is true that everyone ( Cabinet, Parliament, Media & People) stands to blame for forcing the Indian army to go to war, which China never wanted to fight with India. They badly needed India's friendship then, for, they were really friendless in the world at that time. Even the Russians had broken away from them. However, Nehru firstly drew international borders along with S. Gopal without any international or bilateral understanding or talks with countries with whom India shared these borders. He then propounded these one sided borders as international borders to the Indian public and his Parliament. His status being what it was, everyone accepted it as Gospel Truth. The Parliament then had many great intellectuals and almost all were genuine Patriots, but their knowledge of international affairs was poor and experience was zero. They were all misled by Nehru, repeatedly. Saying "You can scrap the army", displaying his extreme hatred for the army, he himself signed an order to reduce the Army from a million strong battle hardened force of world war ll to a mere 1&1/2 Lakh strong force in September 1947 itself. A weakened army, I'll equipped, I'll clothed and I'll armed with only 50 bullets of 303 rifles was sent in the high altitude region to fight a war without any high altitude warfare training or exercises, ignoring not just the advice but also resistance of the army Generals. If, only Nehru had the courage to accept his errors in the Parliament about the borders being undefined and the army being unprepared, neither the parliament nor the media nor the people would have pressuriseded him into aggressive action. In stead, sadly, Nehru had the extreme arrogance of ordering his country into war by giving a public statement at an airport while boarding an aircraft to proceed abroad for a Commonwealth conference. A war was ordered to be fought in the absence of the Prime Minister, from not just his capital but also his country. That was Nehru's understanding of 'how the wars are fought'. Krishna Menon wanted to fight the war on the tables of diplomacy but he was not against the physical armed conflict either. He never publically or in private opposed the war. - Wing Commander Ravindra Parasnis (Retd)
The idea that Nehru drew the international borders is absurd and foolish. Nehru inherited the borderr from the british. That's why the India China border is called the mcMohan line.(from the British agreements to the line with them Tibet) At least know basic history before commenting.
The fact that the Congress had won the provincial elections held in British India. And the Indian National Congress selected Nehru. That's what gave him that authority.
How Krishna Menon hatred ? Lt general thappor is a close relative of then premier Mr Nehru who back stabbed Menon in hours of crisis and Nehru doesn't eye and ear to listen the advice of Mr Menon about China that they were against India and Nehru's policy of Non alignment movement, his neglect of modernity of indian armed forces and Nehru was responsible for the partition of India in to two state and the contribution of Mr Menon is commendable in freedom struggle and he organized Indians especially in Europe and tarnishing the image of Menon is un worthy.
Why there is no questioning session. It felt like Jairam Ramesh wants to sell this book on his terms only. But this is India without negotiations we don't even spend a 1Rupee.
I love the way Jairam Ramesh has portrayed Krishna Menon, Excellent deliverance. Stanley Smith from USA
VK Krishna Menon was the best student of Harold Laski at LSE - he was a hyper genius, but definitely made mistakes
Responsible for 1962 war loss

And a dishonest leader too.
