I can't believe it, but it's time for our TENTH Weird/Creepy Pokédex video! This time, Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon are here for some Ultra Weird Pokédex entries.

I love Alolan Ninetales' Ultra Sun entry. "The reason it guides people all the way down to the mountain's base is that it wants them to hurry up and leave."
ShadowSpade1315 But what's also makes Alolan Vulpix's entry in Ultra Sun scary. "If you carelessly approach it because it's cute, the boss of the pack, Ninetales, will appear and freeze you."
ShadowSpade1315 So all those Alolan Vulpix you find at the base of Mount Lanakila are outcasts from the packs on the mountain itself, or simply got separated from said packs. That's kinda sad...
Let's not forget Lucario's Dex entry in Ultra Moon:

Mega Pinsir (Ultra Sun):
After Mega Evolution, it becomes able to fly. Perhaps because it's so happy, it rarely touches the ground.
not to mention that its non mega entry in US mentions that it actually gets along very well with Heracross in Alola
on the heartbreaking side, though, is Amaura:
"Amaura was restored successfully, but it's not expected to live long because of the heat of the current environment."

I think mega kangaskhan has one about it being happy seeing it’s child grow up. But another one says it’s worried about it’s future if it can only fight.

my headcanon is that when gen 6 said Mega Evolution required a strong bond, THIS is what they meant. Not a strong bond to activate, but a strong bond to not let the power flow out uncontrollably
There's actually a whole arc in the anime that supports and all but confirms this theory, so good job on that one 👍

-Busted Form (Ultra Sun): It stands in front of a mirror, trying to fix its broken neck as if its life depended on it. It has a hard time getting it right, so it's crying inside.
-Busted Form (Ultra Moon): Sad that its true identity may be exposed, Mimikyu will mercilessly seek revenge on any opponent that breaks its neck.

I'm a big fan of Paras's Ultra Moon entry:

Their genes are already hard-wired to prevent male evolution. Eating nothing but beans doesn't help.
Absolutely! Or, at the very least, they could make it another Affection-based evolution. It'd be nice to finally have more than one of those, and it would still fit the feed-them-many-beans idea!
(and it could make sense in-game too, since I'm pretty sure Salazzle shows her reverse harem exactly NO LOVE AT ALL.)
They could even have a scrappier, almost crazed look for the evolved form that is more malnourished and crazed for food. Could have a pokedex entry talking about how they've evolved past their simp like nature and now have a resentment towards them. Could possibly even have an ability that's the opposite to rivalry where it improves attack power against an opponent that's the same gender and decreases it against one that's the opposite. Maybe called "Sympathy"

I was legit disturbed by that entry.
Here are some other dark and silly ones that he didn't share:

*Relicanth* (Ultra Moon): The reason it hasn't changed at all in a hundred million years is that it's apparently already a perfect life-form.
*Lucario* (Ultra Moon): Lucario reads its opponent's feelings with its aura waves. It finds out things it would rather not know, so it gets stressed out easily.
*Beheeyem* (Ultra Sun): With its psychic powers, it rewrites its opponents’ memories. You, too, may have already had your memories rewritten.
*Mimikyu* Disguised Form (Ultra Moon): A gust of wind revealed what hides under this Pokémon's rag to a passing Trainer, who went home and died painfully that very night.

"Mega Ampharos's hair contains the DNA of dragons. It has taken over its host mind, making it nothing but a ruthless killing machine."
Or...
"Mega Gallade has become a ruthless monster of carnage. The only thing keeping it from running loose and destroying everything in sight is the cape on its back."
Or how about...
"Mega Evolution increases Mega Audino's hearing by 7,000,000,000 percent. It keeps a smile on its face to mask all the pain and agony it hears upon transformation."
And maybe even...
"Additional gemstones grant Mega Diancie more power. The excessive pains growing these stones are felt even after reverting from Mega Evolution."
Can't wait until next gen gives us all the tragic tales of the failed attempts to form Mega Flygon!

That's the point. My personal headcanon tell me the reason in-universe why there is no Mega Flygon is because all attempts to create one were completely futile and disastrous, with either the trainer testing the Mega Stone dying, the team trying to create said Mega Stone dying from a lab accident, Flygon itself dying from the energy overload, or a combination of all the above. Eventually, the team behind the cutting of the Stone realized that there would be no way that this could actually work, so they decided to put a can on the operation. Sweet dreams!
Austin Argo Here's a made-up one for Mega Flygon:
"The flapping of its gigantic wings creates a perpetual cyclone of dirt and sand around itself. It blinds enemies and prey so painfully, they don't see Mega Flygon's claws savagely tearing them apart."
These comments deserve to be actual PokeDex entries. Seriosuly, this is some great writing.

My favorite Dex entry would have to be Ekans from Ultra Moon.
It swallows bird eggs whole, but said eggs can occasionally get stuck causing Ekans to faint.
Cubone’s not depressing Pokédex entry: Cubone finds humans to play with. It hugs tight to the human it finds at night because it cries for its dead mother.
It's weird how you can't get rotom in Alola, yet you have a _Rotom_ Dex.
USUM did make Rotom one of the Island Scan Pokémon, if that counts.
Wish you had picked the US entry for Goodra.
"It's very friendly toward people. If you grow too close to it, Goodra will hug you with its sticky, slime-covered body. *Don't get mad.*"

I read that and interpreted it as the Dex threatening you, "Don't you DARE hurt this hug monster's feelings."
I think Kukui may have a rivalry with Sycamore. The Alola entries on mega evolution are written with an obvious bias and exaggeration. They are radically different from other depictions elsewhere. The trainer's emotions are what enable mega evolution. A trainer that has a weak heart or evil intentions is what causes the Pokémon to go beserk and grow unstable. I think he is only reporting the effects of a failed mega evolution to make z-moves look superior. Want to see a z-move that hurts someone, look no further than Necrozma's z-move. It physically exhausts the trainer and then steals the light of the world.
This makes a lot of sense. It could be a cultural thing. Alolans probably view Mega Evolution as unnatural, while Kalosians think the same about Z-Moves.
AKA Necrozma uses a Spirit Bomb to make the living thing on the other side not living anymore

Hey, not every Mega Evolution is bad:
Mega Lopunny's Ultra Moon entry: "Mega Evolution awakens its combative instincts. It has shed any fur that got in the way of its attacks.
Mega Ampharos' Ultra Sun entry: Excess energy from Mega Evolution stimulates its genes, and the wool it had lost grows again.
...These were the only good ones I could find apart from Mega Ampharos' Ultra Moon entry, but I didn't wanna repeat the same Pokemon twice.
These are still bad in a way... I mean it doesn't sound like a genetic miracle or proper progression. More like the thirst for power is so excessive that it aggressively alters your body that nature never intended.
Patricia Luna still though, while most Mega Pokemon are out writhing in pain or mauling their opponents to the ground, at least Mega Ampharos gets to look fabulous.
If the only reason a male Salandit can't evolve is because of malnutrition, if a trainer were to hatch a baby, male Salandit, and give it the exact same diet and amount that a female would eat, would it be able to evolve? Or was this reason morphed into a genetic trait over time and now the males being unable to evolve has become permanent and cannot be fixed? Pretty interesting...
It's also making me think how badass a male Salazzle would have looked.

Maybe Game Freak would soon introduce a male Salandit Evolution that has the biology that that Salandit grew to be so hungry, it left the pack to find food and grew to become one of the most ruthless Pokémon in the (Insert Region Name Here) Region.

Uh, a Pokémon ordering other Pokémon around isn't so surprising (as with Vespiqen and Combee or Salazzle and Salandit, or a pack of wild Mightyena, for example)... but _throwing Pokéballs?!!_ Where is the line drawn between a Pokémon and a Trainer, at this point? Could Oranguru become Pokémon Trainers? What are the implications of a Pokémon being a 'Trainer' to other Pokémon???

They set up that Ghastly Pokedex entry all the way back in Diamond and Pearl just to have it pay of several generations later. Some people at Game Freak have some real commitment to the Pokédex.
The Salandit description is interesting, it gives the possibility of maybe a friendship based evolution for male Salandit, or something similar.

Jesus Christ game freak really doesn't want you to use mega evolution anymore and just forget about it.
I know, they look kinda cool the first time, but Z-moves are not as good as using a life orb or an item that boosts the power of a particular type and the cutscenes overstay their welcome. The kicker is that mega evolution was said to be made from a bond between trainer and Pokemon. Maybe more could have been made if pseudo-legendaries didn't have mega evolutions.

With the bulk this meta has, you can't always win with Life orb or....scarves...and get beat back by either a hard hitting attack or trick room.
sure you can make the arguement against some megas that the normal form is better off with a different item but I've turned plenty of battles with a z-move to take out a potential sweeper or wall

Wait, if you need a strong bond with your Pokemon to mega evolve them.... But most megas are suffering.... Maybe you need a strong bond with your pokemon so that they still fight for you, even when you put them through Mega Evolution?

To try to make their players not use Mega evolution because people kept complaining about the unbalanced gameplay. This occurred because mega evolution was used as a marketing tool and given to fan-favourite Pokemon. They did not consider pseudo-legendary Pokemon such as Metagross were fan favourites just because they are strong.
Also, they're trying desperately to make people care about Z-moves (personally, I do not)

No wonder a Pokemon has to trust it's trainer before mega evolving happens. I'd be untrusting too if it hurt like heck to get a power boost.

Machoke's Ultra Moon's entry basically adds the fact that artists use it as their models. Cause people want a Renaissance style marble statue of a lizardman bodybuilder/wrestler.
I love that they decided to call drampa the "placid" pokemon... if anyone out there gets the chance, please name your drampa "Trogdor". (or Puff; either one will do).

Panda bears actually rub thier bottoms on trees for other pandas to follow the scent or to communicate. They usually do this when they're ready to breed.

Don’t worry, I’m sure no National Dex is just a temporary thing until they move onto the Switch, obviously way more powerful hardware can store more Pokémon than ever!

My personal favorite Dex entry is Absol's Ultra Sun entry: "The only thing unlucky about Absol is its appearance. It protects fields and warns people of disaster, so one ought to be grateful for it." I just like how the Pokedex is telling people to be grateful to absol after it's been accused of causing disasters it tries to warn people about.
