Thanks a lot for this upload! Did you know that studio version existed prior to this? Due to the success of It on UA-cam, I wanted to do a remaster, like I did for "Dune Spice Opera" this year (easy to find), but unfortunately the tapes are lost. 😢 But I still have the midi sources, so, be prepared to hear some new version this year! Just follow me here to keep up-to-date! Stéphane Picq 2024
I personally think the mod versions of the in game tracks are kinda amateurish compared to the originals, but the intro theme of the Amiga version is AWESOME.
This is Adlib soundtrack. The responsible for this sound is Yamaha OPL. Made by Yamaha, not Creative. Creative had the noisier, worst versions of OPL soundtracks, because of cheap design and bad sound engineering. Then they did even worse by having an even worst sounding emulation to save on Yamaha chips with AWE32/64, live. etc. soundcards.

Some people only know Creative products, and some products seem fantastic if you only know Creative. Creative VERY SHADY practices didn't stop with AWE64. But that article does haha. E.g.: live!, audigy had many, many issues. And creative probalbly killed innovation in audio with its competition wiping predatory behaviour. "Creative" most important technologies were made by providers, like Yamaha. Or by E-mu Systems, or Ensoniq, which they bought. They even were incapable of developing a PCI soundcard! So they bought ensoniq for their already selling PCI soundcards technology.

Stéphane Picq 2024
I’m excited! This is probably my favorite soundtrack you created!
Hi Stephane, are your tracks able to be used in games/projects with given credit?
impressive for 2-op FM chip...nice
I hear emulated filter sweeps, sync tones, PWM and phase distortion, all from 2-op synthesis. This guy knows his way around the chip!
indeed
??? Youre channel is older Than mine.
@@jcjcjcj433 wut
2 operator FM synthesis is way more powerful than people think it is, thanks to under utilization of the OPL chips.
Also, 1:19 flute thing
Stéphane Picq really can deliver amazing stuff on Adlib
Wow, an OPL DOS soundtrack that doesn’t sound crappy, and has nice FM instruments and FM drums!😄🤩😎👌
Then I recommend you to listen to "Dune" soundtrack for AdLib.
@@retroand Agreed! Spice Opera is incredible
So many DOS games had crap FM sound tracks.... Stephane Picq was a notable exception. His sound design is really exceptional.
beginning of Kursk sounds like some music from Tron: Legacy
Does anyone know what the "lyrics" are at 10:03 are? Cause I have no idea.
Kursk is so immersive. Awesome trip. Would fit just fine in a cyberpunk setting.
i listen to this playlist everytime while playing Rust
Imagine how amazing those great musics would be in symphonic version !!!!!
Thank you muchly for doing this.
Adlib was wasted on trying to do crappy midi.
To me, "Gorbi" sounds like a bit like a tune from Compile's sound team.
bepis music
Amazing, so amazing that i almost make another youtube account to give you... 2 LIKES!!!!!!!
Honestly amazing stuff. He managed to somehow give it a Russian feel
“You have wasted a human resource”
That game was funny but so bad.
nice
kursk is very different from the .mod version
I personally think the mod versions of the in game tracks are kinda amateurish compared to the originals, but the intro theme of the Amiga version is AWESOME.
Shark fins mean something different today than when I watched Jaws as a child.
Dang I'm not normally a big fan of 2OP FM stuff but this is fucking good!
There’s plenty of great OPL2 stuff. Ufo/xcom soundtrack as an obvious example.
10:12 sounds like Kraftwerk.
...and on the Dune soundtrack, you can definitely hear a Jean Michel Jarre influence here and there.
I think the soundtrack lacked some tweaking in the normalisation but it is the funkiest from mr Picq.
This game got a much better soundtrack that it deserves.
nah, I honestly think the game is still cool. or at least fairly cool.
It's a really good game, too bad it was a bit rushed, had so much potential.
@@camulodunonthé gameplay of the enigmas was awful, but thé story ans thé atmosphère was great... And thé music was awesome
And I thought soundblaster couldn't produce good sounding music

Thanks for the info. I always found Adlib sound interesting, same as Yamaha sound chips, but information is scarce

@@ajax700 I think noisiness would be the fault of the DACs, not the chips themselves. Aren't the soundchips identical on Sound Blaster and Adlib?
I know, right?😄
It really sounds so much better on the Amiga.
