After years of playing w/o much thought on rimshots I decided I should get on board. I started running through all the rudiments while using rimshots for the accents. Works right and left hands nicely.
Been doing this for a while and i find it easier to do if I change the snare angle a bit. So that when i need it I shift the snare and when I don't I shift it back to normal
Hitting the snare dead center does not give the best rim shot...move slightly to the right(if a right handed player) then up a tadge.. works on all snare drums..try it need for yourself !
Dude..... just wundering how old are you? Is this your collected experience or did you take a lot from your vids from being told from someone else? Nun of my business mind you but you talk alot older than you look.
Guy has a pretty good cv to be honest. I'm self taught so I did my DD on him a while back after realising he gives solid advice. Age doesn't really matter.
@@kerimbay age matters when you have worked on the road and most people don't pick that much up so quick! I see y'all don't understand but it was meant as a compliment 😂
My neighbors are gonna love this! 🤣
You are a great teacher, thank you for this!

Stephen is truly the best teacher
Great informative video. Versatile. Dynamic s Love all your videos
Great lesson! Thanks.
Billie Jean is a great song to practice rimshots with. They are essential when playing this song.
Damn, I just started a week ago to do rimshots, thanks for the video
What app were you using to measure the angle of your drum? That’s a great idea
Snare attachment??? What do you call the beaded/sizzle attachment to flip up on to the snare?
have used this technique ever since I started playing back in the 70s ...I never felt comfortable with just hitting in the middle of a snare ...
Do rms not de tune the snare or warp the rims? Genuine question.

Rim shots are so satisfying to hit
This is very important, I think this topic is always overlooked so badly.
Thanks!
Thank you 💖
Your volume needs to come up in your video mixes, but other than that the content is very good.
That’s how John Bonham got that sound😀
Daru Jones' setup IS bonkers but he's just awesome.
I have always only played with rimshots to the snare.
Bro how are you getting all those amazing snare overtones 😍
Might be the snare. My $50 snare that came with my kit sounds kinda ringy when not muffled. My $400 snare sounds tasty when not muffled heavily.

Those die cast rims bug the hell out of me. Why do they have that stick destroying thin edge?

I got booted from my band cause I didn't playrimshots!? Replaced me with a mediocre player, so are rimshots important? Absolutely
Trust me tricking people to go on your site doesn’t make any business it pisses people off
Personally I wouldn't recommend practicing rimshots of any kind without ear protection!
