Reiner is my favourite character. He has so much depth. This was a fantastic video! All he wants is to be loved, to be treated fairly, to be respected and not looked down upon because he’s Eldian. He was willing to go to extreme lengths to become a hero to his country, yet at the same time destroying his conscious since he saw his younger self in many of his friends, and wanted to help them. In the end, ruining the lives of people who truly loved and cared for him to try and gain the respect of those who don’t. So so sad.

that was a great summarize for a great story for a guy that i started to feel sympatie toward i do not sympatize with his action but because he realize that he was killing thousond of people that were not demon like marly said but just a innocent and weak human that did nothing wrong then he realize at the age of 13 that he is not a hero like his wish to be but just a killer who kill a hundred of people and create fear inside a wall of peace if he just go back to marly when marcell was killed he wouldn t killed hundred of people and his friend won't be killed or captured and eren won't revenge he know that that why he regret really a sad road and lastly god work that was great work

Reiner is the best character in AoT and you can't tell me otherwise. It's hilarious how the fanbase just doesn't seem to get him. A song that fits him perfectly is Truth Beneath the Rose from Within Temptation. I personally think he should have been the main character from the Marly arch onwards.
Reiner : - "Lost" his father when he was a kid - Born trapped in a box and hated by the world - "Disowned" by his father - Used by his parent (mom) to make them honorary Marleyans - Cares for his mom, while not 100% understanding what's going on in the world - Starts to somewhat understand and decides to save them all and be a hero - Is weak, but has a strong will - Does terrible things without realizing what path it will lead him down - Realizes what is happening in the world and specifically the horrible things he is doing - Has an internal conflict - Understands what it means to truly fight as a warrior (warrior, not soldier, a warrior is based on will and purpose, a soldier just receives and enacts orders) - Understands the bitterness of his actions and how naive he's been (but after all he was just a kid at the start) - Decides to truly commit to his goal while wishing that his end will come soon as he's already done and seen too much of the bitterness of the world Sounds a lot like Eren to me, I guess Reiner was just stuck on the other side of the story.

I really love the way that you portrayed Reiner here. He wasn't a horrible person, he was a child who only wanted to help his family. He scarred the lives of those who truly cared about him to in an attempt to be accepted by the Marleyans who didn't care about him or his family. AOT is such a masterpiece. Everyone has a different motive and agenda, and that perpetuated the conflict and suffering in the world. There is no right or wrong.
Wow...just wow. Brilliant and so deep and painful and encompassing Reiner's complex story. And the parallels gave me chills. This is beyond amazing, it's beautiful but painful at the same time
"WHY DID I LET MYSELF DISSOLVE!!!! INTO SUCH A HALF ASSED PIECE OF SHIT!!!" That line always hit me everytime I here it. One's sanity can only go so fare, when your playing two different characters.
I love how it shows how reiners life has fallen apart. from a boy who wanted to be a hero and he became like a hero to his friends and to eren. The respected big brother and gave it all up for a lie. While he had it all on the island and now all he's got are his regrets and nightmares. Like the tables have been turned. Eren was the one watching his comrades dying left and right to keep him safe now he's the strongest while reiner has lost the will to live but keeps fighting. Eren had a loving mother and father and reiner had a mother that used him as a tool for status and a father that spit in his face and comrades that spit in his face( galliard) and one that was willing to abandon the mission because she thought Reiner would take all the blame and be killed (Annie) and he still went through great lengths to save them and his only friend bertholdt that he lost. Now all he's got is his mother, gabi and falco. While he's not the greatest fighter he didn't even hesitate to throw hands with eren when gabi and falco were taken. He's not a sword but a shield.
Shingeki no Wreck-my-feelings 😭 You’ve really captured the depth of his character; I can’t remember the last time I’ve seen an anime/manga character with such heartbreaking character development.
Eren and Reiner see each other as hero’s but in reality there both villains to each other nether one is a hero but Reiner is a broken hero that I love !
I disagree there not either hero or villains there just two separate people who have to accept two different ideals if becoming a monster to protect the ones I love I will gladly accept my fate even if the world hates me.. Reiner just wanted acceptance from the marleyans as oppose to eren who is defending and fighting for the people he loves even if it comes with a great sacrifice (Eren)

I like how you portrayed him as he was meant to be portrayed-not as a ruthless villain, but a child who was molded by propaganda and had his dreams of a good life taken advantage of to be used as a pawn in an adult's war. I love this character ever since the beginning, and finding out he was one of the three infiltrators intrigued me about them even more. I always see the world in grey so I knew I wanted to know their motivations; they were explicitly shown to be in conflict with what they were doing. As we got to see more of his struggles and how he grew up, I knew I picked a good favorite character. Thank you for this amazing video.

Reiner gets over looked . He’s so pivotal to the story ,to eren himself . And unlike Annie or even eren he’s still so innocent , so soft hearted . He’s neither too far absent minded but neither too hard hearted .
