Couple things. 1.) The magazine size is perfectly acceptable since it fires bursts of 2. 2.) It's a worse individual dueller than Blast Furnace or Elsie's, with better teamshot advantage. You can peak-shot way more with this weapon than you can with a 4-burst or 3-burst pulse, which makes you better at competing against hand cannons. 3.) This has better consistent range than aggressive pulses. Fewer shots to worry about makes the recoil easier to handle, so low-stab. rolls don't feel bad at all.
Omolon has always made great pulse rifles I would like to see them make a high impact auto rifle and with a different weapon frame than the one that they use for their Precision frames and lightweights
I'd like it to do a bit more damage, but it's somewhat comparable to a scout in similar ranges. Once you get Desperado going though, it melts, and it's a lot of fun. I'm normally big on neutral game, but I do not think that is the play with this one, at least in its current state. Also not a fan of Headseeker, it's so stable you have to go out of your way to get body shots. I've got Arrowhead/Ricochet/Zen Moment/Desperado+Kill Clip, Range MW and I can rest easy.
keep away is good for pve because of the massive reload speed you get. Reload speed in pve = more dps and more add clear. Also, keep away + headseeker is a super good combo on almost every pulse. The range + accuracy + headseeker consistancy just feels like it cannot miss. I´ve tried gutshot + headseeker on Jorums claw, which is an adaptive and it did not feel good. Yeah you enhance your bodyshots but since the sandbox changes, bodyshots are baseline worse then before. So increasing your bodyshot damage isn´t as impactful as you want it to be. I´ll still try it out on Aishas care but i do suspect ill come to the same conclusion.
Infinite range you say? Well the last time omolon made a rifle with infinite damage range Bungie broke the lore just to nerf it and never reversed it even after the nerf to 600 auto rifles
i got a 2 great roll polygonal rifling, arrowhead ricochet, alloy gut shot headseeker (range MW) i like it i cant decide though cause i also got fluted, extended rochet, alloy keep away headseek (stability MW)
The comp Strand Pulse rifle is by far better in PvE, and yeah, this one's 3rd column sucks :( could've given it Firefly to pair with hatchling and it might be worth grinding out for
To be frank - both of them are PvP pulse rifles, and aren't catered to PvE to start with. If you want a good PvE pulse I'd suggest a well-rolled Battle Scar, or maybe an Elsie's with Desperado and Destabilizing.

Slice/zen moment with desperado feels very good with this pulse rifle
