I remember watching this with my mother and sister when it was first on. We had no problem with Richard kissing the ladies and we often thought what fun it would be to be on the show and get a kiss from him. It was harmless, just a little peck on the lips and I don't remember any female contestant not getting a kiss.
You left out one important fact about the show. Family Feud's use of handicap contestants. There was never a disability that kept you off the show if you know how the game is played. A contestant named Ernie holds the distinction of being the very first "blind" contestant on the show and also the one responsible for winning the fast money round as well. Another contestant Floyd was its second and the first to play the face off in which Dawson asks both contestants to lay their hands on top of the buzzers as opposed to the side. I have seen contestants like Beth Howland that were in wheelchairs that was still able to play the game. They've tried a deaf contestant, but it didn't work as an aide was required as well as sign language to respond to answers. And Dawson mention that in his farewell speech on his last taping of Family Feud along with the use of minority contestants regardless. In short, Family Feud does not discriminate. It is a show built for everyone from everything!

In the 70's & 80's his interactions with the female contestants were normal. You obviously are a kid that never had the opportunity to watched the Dating Game, or match game, or any other old Game Show. Richard Dawson WAS the Family Feud. You don't know any better. I watched all of these shows as a kid in the 1970s and as a teenager in the 1980s, and what I saw on TV never bothered me as a kid because as you said, it was quite the norm. Nothing unusual. People were normal back then not a bunch of oversensitive crybabies like they are now.

You state the kissing didn't go over well with the audience but when he did his poll, 14,000+ voted to keep the kissing vs. the 700 that voted no. Obviously the viewers didn't mind the kissing. Gretchen was 25 when she was on the Feud and Richard was 48 during those episodes when Gretchen appeared. She did not give him a fake number. The shows she was on started taping on the Monday and they finished up on Tuesday. She headed back to San Diego and Richard called her that night. She agreed to have dinner with him on Good Friday which was 3 weeks out of her being on the show. They did not get married in 1985. They got married in 1991. They had a little girl together in 1990. The staff with Family Feud did not have any issues with Richard dating Gretchen. Howard Felsher, the Producer of Family Feud also married a contestant. It was stated in a documentary about Family Feud that most of the staff met their significant others on Feud. You don't have to like Richard, BUT PLEASE do not lie about him and spread false narratives about him. He was a very kind hearted man that always stuck up for the little guy. He cared about the contestants and wanted them to win, whether on Match Game or Feud. When it comes to Richard you have no clue what you are talking about. I would be glad to set you straight with REAL FACTS about Richard if you really want to know the truth.
Hell Richard's own archive of TV interview he did a few years before he passed, would debunk any myths all by itself. He was tempermental and could even be an asshole perhaps at times, but you could never say he wasn't genuine, that's for damn sure. O.K. you got someone who was around. Dawson's kissiepoo routine was downright creepy. It made everybody I know cringe. I personally liked Ray Combs best of all the hosts and truly regret the way he died. WORST host is the current Steve Harvey. Have now stopped watching the Feud due to over obvious affirmative action choice of Harvey and discrimination against white families.

I remember his kissing and I loved it it made me watch the show more. He kissed everyone no matter what, so I knew there was something clean about it. it wasn’t in a perverted way to me it was like he said to make people feel relaxed.
What a lot of people seem to forget is that Richard Dawson is a very nice and respectful man. He wouldn't go to that length to make the female contestants uncomfortable if you knew his background. Without Richard Dawson, there would've been no family feud. How could he have ruined the show? Seriously tho. @@grandmaida7819 i don't think you understood what i said. If the women contestants did say that they didn't want to be kissed by Richard, then he wouldn't do it forcibly. He would just give them either a handshake, or a hug. Sometimes he'll ask why don't want to be kissed, but he does mention that he only does it for luck and love. That's what he learned from his mother back in England. And that's another thing, people seem to forget that he was originally from England where the culture might've originated from. So the bottom line is, if some of the women didn't want to be kissed by Richard, then he'll not do it if they said so.
His "kiss rate" was well over 90%. And it was never an entire "family." The kiss rate was so high that I always assumed as a kid that the women not kissed had to present an alternative reason such as a contagious disease or a religious objection. There is no way that a random sampling of American women in 1980 would yield 90+% that want to be kissed on TV by a stranger. So there are two logical answers for this discrepancy: Agreeing to be kissed was a "price of admission" for participating for a vast majority of contestant families (remember that game shows pick their contestants; it is not random) and/or there was considerable pressure placed on selected women to participate in the "ritual." Either way, it was a pretty exploitative thing to do. Making maters worse, he routinely and doggedly flirted with women on the show on air. You could visbly see many of them squirm by his comments and his handsy violation of their personal space. In addition to this being harrasment of those individuals, it also served as a horrible role model to other men by presenting this behavior as acceptable or even admirable. Richard Dawson was a dinosaur. I am glad his brand of "entertainment" is extinct.

I am sorry but your info is wrong. I was on Family Feud and we, the women, did not sign any paper, in fact, we were never asked about his kiss. Personally, I didn't mind the kiss.

One thing that videos like this never mention is the fact that those female contestants were actually asked beforehand if they wouldn’t mind a kiss from Richard. One of the executives of the show who was in charge of the contestants said in an interview he rarely got a no from them! So people really need to keep that in mind when they are negative about Richards kissing. Yes it got gross after a while but he had the contestants approval. Yes Richard had ego problems but he took chances. He stood out because he he was blunt and surly yet caring and fair. He changed the persona of the game host forever. Whether it was for better or worse depends on ones opinion but in the end the man cared for the contestants and his show and despite what many who have worked with him have said about him he had almost nothing bad to say about anyone he worked with in the interviews I’ve seen him do. Firstly, Richard Dawson did not ruin the show as obviously it has been running on and off for over 40 years in countries all over the world so your headline makes no sense. Dawson was on Match Game for many years prior to Family Feud and was quite controversial and risque with the way he conducted himself under todays standards so I'm sure the Feud producers knew what to expect before hiring him. He was a great host and I love being able to watch his episodes thanks to youtube posters. Yes kissing those contestants was probably wrong, but many of them seemed to be looking forward to it, then again what could they do I guess especially with $$$ on the line. Steve Harvey seems a likeable and funny host, but Dawson was a pioneer. He was clearly arrogant and didn't seem to care what others thought and also outwardly creepy at times with his flirting, but I find him to be the best of the hosts as he was also very funny, and unique and set the show on its way to the bigtime and longevity.

I certainly loved him and watched him in the 70s when the show started. I was in my teens and remember it well. At the time, I thought very little of the kisses. After all, it was the 70s.
Watching this as a kid there was nothing out of the ordinary. Quite the opposite. It was something I could relate to. It was no different than my families behavior. Public kissing was an act of endearment, never a sexual thing. In my opinion, Richard was keeping it as family as it could be, something relatable. Though I understand, it is unfortunate that these days people have a much different view. It is a shame that we have been through so much evil in this nation that we cannot trust even the most basic acts endearments.

I was 3 days old when FAMILY FEUD first went on the air in July of 76 and Dawson was a much better host of the show than his successor ever was for sure. Whoever said for this video when it was created that Richard Dawson ruined FAMILY FEUD is very stupid and totally crazy.
Richard Dawson's attitude towards sponsors is a reason to praise him, not a reason to criticise him. And his practice of kissing the female contestants was lovely. Finally, he and Gretchen were adults. It was absolutely nobody's business what the two of them did together.
1. How can you ruin something and be kept on air for so long? While scoring one of the highest ratings no less? They could've easily fired him if they felt he was wrong for the position. 2. Also, all women were asked before the show if they agreed to being kissed, so they could've easily said no (I recall seeing a few cases where they were greeted by a kiss on a cheek or a handshake). However, most of them looked happy with a kiss on the lips and quite eagerly met Richard half-way. 3. I admit that Steve Harvey brought my attention to Family Feud, but unless it's a gem like "Naked grandma" or "pork-qupine", there's a noticeable pattern there which starts getting old quite quickly. Question with a clear sexual layer > Naughty answer > Steve's surprised Pikachu reaction > "You can't say that on TV!". I find Richard's witty remarks or genuine laugh attacks more preferable. 4. Personally I have another problem with the modern FF, which is the general behavior of contestants. Maybe it's because I'm from the Eastern Europe, however, their incessant loudness, unnecessary dumb answers and shouts of "GOOD ANSWER!" when clearly it's not, is tiresome and off-putting.

I thought it was sweet when Ray Combs kissed a little lady named Elizabeth on the cheek. The question was, "Name something a man wears to bed", and she said, "condoms"! That got a huge laugh, and I could hear her daughter saying, "*Mother*! This clip can be seen on some of the funniest moments shows, especially TV's Funniest Game Shows (2000), narrated by Richard Dawson. He was also good on 227. My mom liked him because he wasn't kissing all the women.
Okay first off someone who is the original host stays on for years, leaves then is asked to come back is not someone who ruined anything. Second there was a national poll that people could write into the show to vote if they were okay with the kissing, the kissing won 1000s over 100s. He and his wife are adults. There was a questionnaire for all the families before the show having them check if the women were okay with the kiss. It wasn't sloppy or abhorrent kiss, they were pecks. He started it as something because a nervous contestant, his mother did it to him or his grandmother and he asked her. It was a good luck thing.

With Steve Harvey the show has become ridiculous. It seems like it's scripted at times just to give Steve a chance to make some dumb look and comment after a contestants answer. It's funny every now and then, but when people just watch to see what response Steve will have to some stupid answers it's time to put it to bed.

My grandma has been watching it since it premiered and I have been watching it since 2010 with her and she just died so watching it now will bring back memories
Have and will always love Richard Dawson. He made Family Feud what it was, a great show to watch. I watched all the others, including a few minutes of Steve Harvey, none of them hold can hold a candle to Richard Dawson's brilliance. He was charming and witty. I liked the rest of the hosts, except Steve Harvey. I can't stand that glazed look he gets where he stands with his mouth open like he is caught in the headlights of a car. And that smile of his seems so fake.
I really enjoy Steve Harvey as the host. He makes me laugh and his reactions are great. But I grew up with Richard Dawson, and you can't separate Family Feud from him. He was the cornerstone of the show, and a big reason people tuned in. His humor was more dry and subtle unlike Harvey's blatant yet humorous comedy. Steve Harvey also seemingly cuddles with contestants during Fast Money. My guess is that there will be a kid making a video in the future wondering how Steve Harvey got away with putting his arm around all these married women for years and years. I am guessing that if people didn't want to be kissed by Dawson, they could make that very clear. I saw quite a few contestants where Dawson respected that and didn't kiss them. But it seemed most wanted him to do the tradition...and maybe it was an appeal of the show. I think the title was not really fair or true. Richard Dawson put Family Feud on the map, and was an engaging and entertaining host.

I went to a Catholic school as a kid, and one of our nun teachers went on Family Feud. We were all dying to know if Richard Dawson would kiss a nun…and if she would let him. The answer of course was yes. At the time I thought the kissing was endearing. But looking at it now, I can see that it looks a bit creepy.
You didn't add what I disliked the most about him, and that was he would put a pause in the middle of asking a question and it would seem like that was the end of the question. Then when someone would give an answer to what they thought was the question. He would tell them that they were going to feel foolish when he finished the rest of the question. Richard Dawson did NOT ruin Family Fued!! In fact, he made it the long running high rated show that it is! Dawson is the pioneering force behind FF and he should be given a whole lot more credit than what this video gives him, that's for sure! Richard Dawson was a host that lived by his own morals, values, and standards, and stood his ground maintaining them. We started watching Family Feud a long time ago. But now, with this crisis, we started watching Family feud from the beginning. We started watching Match Game from the beginning too. All available in my favorite UA-cam. Richard Dawson is next to none.
I liked Dawson at first on Match Game but towards the end of his tenure on Match Game he got kind of weird and by the time he was hosting Family Feud he was creepy.
She did not give him a false number she married him and had a Daughter !!! In an interview he said those were the happiest days if his life married for a long time until his death!
I remember this game show when I was a child and what made me remember it and Richard Dawson was his kissing the women. I watched Sesame Street regularly . Well one episode in particular had a skit with the characters on a game show. And I remember the host, which was a Muppet and his name was Richard Kissie. And he too, kissed the female Muppet contestants as well. I never laughed so hard in my life. Just because of the fond memory I had of Family Feud. Because of that, I never forgot Richard Dawson.

No one else has ever made Family Feud the best of all the shows. You failed mention that one of the hosts, killed himself. We tried to watch after Richard left. No one could hold a candle to him. Gretchen didn't give him a fake number; she didn't answer the first two calls because she'd had her wisdom teeth removed. Now with Steve Harvey as the host, it shows that people want dirty talk, rude behavior and sexual talk, it just shows how the world has changed. I never heard a host who didn't make banter. I remember watching this with my mother and sister when it was first on. We had no problem with Richard kissing the ladies and we often thought what fun it would be to be on the show and get a kiss from him. It was harmless, just a little peck on the lips and I don't remember any female contestant not getting a kiss.
You left out one important fact about the show. Family Feud's use of handicap contestants. There was never a disability that kept you off the show if you know how the game is played. A contestant named Ernie holds the distinction of being the very first "blind" contestant on the show and also the one responsible for winning the fast money round as well. Another contestant Floyd was its second and the first to play the face off in which Dawson asks both contestants to lay their hands on top of the buzzers as opposed to the side. I have seen contestants like Beth Howland that were in wheelchairs that was still able to play the game. They've tried a deaf contestant, but it didn't work as an aide was required as well as sign language to respond to answers. And Dawson mention that in his farewell speech on his last taping of Family Feud along with the use of minority contestants regardless. In short, Family Feud does not discriminate. It is a show built for everyone from everything!

I watched all of these shows as a kid in the 1970s and as a teenager in the 1980s, and what I saw on TV never bothered me as a kid because as you said, it was quite the norm. Nothing unusual. People were normal back then not a bunch of oversensitive crybabies like they are now.
If you are going to call yourself a fact checker then go by facts and not your opinion. You state the kissing didn't go over well with the audience but when he did his poll, 14,000+ voted to keep the kissing vs. the 700 that voted no. Obviously the viewers didn't mind the kissing.
Gretchen was 25 when she was on the Feud and Richard was 48 during those episodes when Gretchen appeared. She did not give him a fake number. The shows she was on started taping on the Monday and they finished up on Tuesday. She headed back to San Diego and Richard called her that night. She agreed to have dinner with him on Good Friday which was 3 weeks out of her being on the show.
They did not get married in 1985. They got married in 1991. They had a little girl together in 1990. The staff with Family Feud did not have any issues with Richard dating Gretchen. Howard Felsher, the Producer of Family Feud also married a contestant. It was stated in a documentary about Family Feud that most of the staff met their significant others on Feud.
You don't have to like Richard, BUT PLEASE do not lie about him and spread false narratives about him. He was a very kind hearted man that always stuck up for the little guy. He cared about the contestants and wanted them to win, whether on Match Game or Feud. When it comes to Richard you have no clue what you are talking about. I would be glad to set you straight with REAL FACTS about Richard if you really want to know the truth.
Hell Richard's own archive of TV interview he did a few years before he passed, would debunk any myths all by itself. He was tempermental and could even be an asshole perhaps at times, but you could never say he wasn't genuine, that's for damn sure. I suppose have more understanding for him too, as his birthday is just a bit more than 2 weeks after my own, thus making him a Scorpio like I am.

I remember his kissing and I loved it it made me watch the show more. He kissed everyone no matter what, so I knew there was something clean about it. it wasn’t in a perverted way to me it was like he said to make people feel relaxed.
What a lot of people seem to forget is that Richard Dawson is a very nice and respectful man. He wouldn't go to that length to make the female contestants uncomfortable if you knew his background. Without Richard Dawson, there would've been no family feud. How could he have ruined the show? Seriously tho. I stopped watching this before hitting the halfway point in the vid cause I got tired of him saying a couple things about Richard that were not true.
@@grandmaida7819 i don't think you understood what i said. If the women contestants did say that they didn't want to be kissed by Richard, then he wouldn't do it forcibly. He would just give them either a handshake, or a hug. Sometimes he'll ask why don't want to be kissed, but he does mention that he only does it for luck and love. That's what he learned from his mother back in England. And that's another thing, people seem to forget that he was originally from England where the culture might've originated from. So the bottom line is, if some of the women didn't want to be kissed by Richard, then he'll not do it if they said so.
His "kiss rate" was well over 90%. And it was never an entire "family." The kiss rate was so high that I always assumed as a kid that the women not kissed had to present an alternative reason such as a contagious disease or a religious objection.
There is no way that a random sampling of American women in 1980 would yield 90+% that want to be kissed on TV by a stranger. So there are two logical answers for this discrepancy: Agreeing to be kissed was a "price of admission" for participating for a vast majority of contestant families (remember that game shows pick their contestants; it is not random) and/or there was considerable pressure placed on selected women to participate in the "ritual."
Either way, it was a pretty exploitative thing to do. Making maters worse, he routinely and doggedly flirted with women on the show on air. You could visbly see many of them squirm by his comments and his handsy violation of their personal space. In addition to this being harrasment of those individuals, it also served as a horrible role model to other men by presenting this behavior as acceptable or even admirable.
Richard Dawson was a dinosaur. I am glad his brand of "entertainment" is extinct.

One thing that videos like this never mention is the fact that those female contestants were actually asked beforehand if they wouldn’t mind a kiss from Richard. One of the executives of the show who was in charge of the contestants said in an interview he rarely got a no from them! So people really need to keep that in mind when they are negative about Richards kissing. Yes it got gross after a while but he had the contestants approval.
Yes Richard had ego problems but he took chances. He stood out because he he was blunt and surly yet caring and fair. He changed the persona of the game host forever. Whether it was for better or worse depends on ones opinion but in the end the man cared for the contestants and his show and despite what many who have worked with him have said about him he had almost nothing bad to say about anyone he worked with in the interviews I’ve seen him do. Firstly, Richard Dawson did not ruin the show as obviously it has been running on and off for over 40 years in countries all over the world so your headline makes no sense.
Dawson was on Match Game for many years prior to Family Feud and was quite controversial and risque with the way he conducted himself under todays standards so I'm sure the Feud producers knew what to expect before hiring him. He was a great host and I love being able to watch his episodes thanks to youtube posters. Yes kissing those contestants was probably wrong, but many of them seemed to be looking forward to it, then again what could they do I guess especially with $$$ on the line. Steve Harvey seems a likeable and funny host, but Dawson was a pioneer. He was clearly arrogant and didn't seem to care what others thought and also outwardly creepy at times with his flirting, but I find him to be the best of the hosts as he was also very funny, and unique and set the show on its way to the bigtime and longevity.

I certainly loved him and watched him in the 70s when the show started. I was in my teens and remember it well. At the time, I thought very little of the kisses. After all, it was the 70s.
Watching this as a kid there was nothing out of the ordinary. Quite the opposite. It was something I could relate to. It was no different than my families behavior. Public kissing was an act of endearment, never a sexual thing. In my opinion, Richard was keeping it as family as it could be, something relatable. Though I understand, it is unfortunate that these days people have a much different view. It is a shame that we have been through so much evil in this nation that we cannot trust even the most basic acts endearments.

I was 3 days old when FAMILY FEUD first went on the air in July of 76 and Dawson was a much better host of the show than his successor ever was for sure. Whoever said for this video when it was created that Richard Dawson ruined FAMILY FEUD is very stupid and totally crazy.
Dawson was the luckiest gameshow host ever. Young, old and all in-between he got to kiss them all.
Richard Dawson's attitude towards sponsors is a reason to praise him, not a reason to criticise him.
And his practice of kissing the female contestants was lovely.
Finally, he and Gretchen were adults. It was absolutely nobody's business what the two of them did together.
1. How can you ruin something and be kept on air for so long? While scoring one of the highest ratings no less? They could've easily fired him if they felt he was wrong for the position.
2. Also, all women were asked before the show if they agreed to being kissed, so they could've easily said no (I recall seeing a few cases where they were greeted by a kiss on a cheek or a handshake). However, most of them looked happy with a kiss on the lips and quite eagerly met Richard half-way.
3. I admit that Steve Harvey brought my attention to Family Feud, but unless it's a gem like "Naked grandma" or "pork-qupine", there's a noticeable pattern there which starts getting old quite quickly.
Question with a clear sexual layer > Naughty answer > Steve's surprised Pikachu reaction > "You can't say that on TV!".
I find Richard's witty remarks or genuine laugh attacks more preferable.
4. Personally I have another problem with the modern FF, which is the general behavior of contestants. Maybe it's because I'm from the Eastern Europe, however, their incessant loudness, unnecessary dumb answers and shouts of "GOOD ANSWER!" when clearly it's not, is tiresome and off-putting.

I thought it was sweet when Ray Combs kissed a little lady named Elizabeth on the cheek. The question was, "Name something a man wears to bed", and she said, "condoms"! That got a huge laugh, and I could hear her daughter saying, "*Mother*! This clip can be seen on some of the funniest moments shows, especially TV's Funniest Game Shows (2000), narrated by Richard Dawson.

Okay first off someone who is the original host stays on for years, leaves then is asked to come back is not someone who ruined anything. Second there was a national poll that people could write into the show to vote if they were okay with the kissing, the kissing won 1000s over 100s. He and his wife are adults. There was a questionnaire for all the families before the show having them check if the women were okay with the kiss. It wasn't sloppy or abhorrent kiss, they were pecks. He started it as something because a nervous contestant, his mother did it to him or his grandmother and he asked her. It was a good luck thing.
Why dont hosts do it today then? Seemed like he tried to kiss all of them. THose that didnt want it turned their cheek which should have been fine.

With Steve Harvey the show has become ridiculous. It seems like it's scripted at times just to give Steve a chance to make some dumb look and comment after a contestants answer. It's funny every now and then, but when people just watch to see what response Steve will have to some stupid answers it's time to put it to bed.

Have and will always love Richard Dawson. He made Family Feud what it was, a great show to watch. I watched all the others, including a few minutes of Steve Harvey, none of them hold can hold a candle to Richard Dawson's brilliance. He was charming and witty. I liked the rest of the hosts, except Steve Harvey. I can't stand that glazed look he gets where he stands with his mouth open like he is caught in the headlights of a car. And that smile of his seems so fake.

I really enjoy Steve Harvey as the host. He makes me laugh and his reactions are great. But I grew up with Richard Dawson, and you can't separate Family Feud from him. He was the cornerstone of the show, and a big reason people tuned in. His humor was more dry and subtle unlike Harvey's blatant yet humorous comedy. Steve Harvey also seemingly cuddles with contestants during Fast Money. My guess is that there will be a kid making a video in the future wondering how Steve Harvey got away with putting his arm around all these married women for years and years. I am guessing that if people didn't want to be kissed by Dawson, they could make that very clear. I saw quite a few contestants where Dawson respected that and didn't kiss them. But it seemed most wanted him to do the tradition...and maybe it was an appeal of the show. I think the title was not really fair or true. Richard Dawson put Family Feud on the map, and was an engaging and entertaining host.

I went to a Catholic school as a kid, and one of our nun teachers went on Family Feud. We were all dying to know if Richard Dawson would kiss a nun…and if she would let him. The answer of course was yes. At the time I thought the kissing was endearing. But looking at it now, I can see that it looks a bit creepy.

You didn't add what I disliked the most about him, and that was he would put a pause in the middle of asking a question and it would seem like that was the end of the question. Then when someone would give an answer to what they thought was the question. He would tell them that they were going to feel foolish when he finished the rest of the question. No show host would be allowed to do that today. We've turned into a society of puritans that call any look or question sexual harrassment. That's not true that she gave him a fake number. She gave him her number, and when he called her, she'd been going through some dental procedures that prevented her from picking up the phone. Eventually he was able to talk to her and offered to make her dinner. The rest is history. She wouldn't have married him if she would have not wanted to. They remained married until the day he died. The era of Richard Dawson in my opinion was not inappropriate in any way shape or form.
Richard Dawson was a host that lived by his own morals, values, and standards, and stood his ground maintaining them.
People make things inappropriate according and in comparison to their own standards, or what society seems appropriate/inappropriate.
FREEDOM IS FREEDOM, weather you agree/disagree.
EACH INDIVIDUAL PERSON ENCOMPASSES their own unique traits, characteristics, and personality.
EACH OF THESE PEOPLE ATTRACT/ATTRACTED TOO OTHERS SIMILAR.
WE ENCOUNTER THOSE IN LIFE THAT ARE FAR FROM SIMILAR LEAVING YOU FEELING DISDAINED.

Richard Dawson did NOT ruin this show. He was so good at Match Game that he wanted his own show. The contestants almost always asked for him in the supermatch because they knew he was good at playing the game. RIP Richard Dawson

We started watching Family Feud a long time ago. But now, with this crisis, we started watching Family feud from the beginning. We started watching Match Game from the beginning too. All available in my favorite UA-cam. Richard Dawson is next to none.
I liked Dawson at first on Match Game but towards the end of his tenure on Match Game he got kind of weird and by the time he was hosting Family Feud he was creepy.

I remember this game show when I was a child and what made me remember it and Richard Dawson was his kissing the women. I watched Sesame Street regularly . Well one episode in particular had a skit with the characters on a game show. And I remember the host, which was a Muppet and his name was Richard Kissie. And he too, kissed the female Muppet contestants as well. I never laughed so hard in my life. Just because of the fond memory I had of Family Feud. Because of that, I never forgot Richard Dawson.

No one else has ever made Family Feud the best of all the shows. You failed mention that one of the hosts, killed himself. We tried to watch after Richard left. No one could hold a candle to him. Gretchen didn't give him a fake number; she didn't answer the first two calls because she'd had her wisdom teeth removed. Now with Steve Harvey as the host, it shows that people want dirty talk, rude behavior and sexual talk, it just shows how the world has changed. I never heard a host who didn't make banter. Richard Dawson was the best ever!
Hell I loved Richard Dawson and didn't know his kissing was a ritual. I thought he was trying to be nice. Didn't care too much for the other ones until Steve harvey came along....

Does anyone know about the extreme lip pursing/facial twisting condition Richard frequently suffered from that caused him to look so bad when he appeared on Match Game? He didn't seem to have the condition when he was on Hogans Hero’s or Family Feud.
Richard Dawson WAS family feud for a long time. I wasn’t offended by the kissing but I was a kid. My father didn’t like the kissing but my mother didn’t mind it. The pendulum swings….
