Dad was in Kirkcaldy Black Watch RE WW11. His Platoon was at Dunkirk . I wish I knew more. All I know is on arrival from boat to shore, he was sat on a Sergeant's shoulders carrying rifles. I can't imagine what that must've been like, felt like, under constant fire, seeing so many of your fellow Regiment and others, shot, bombed, killed, badly maimed. Dad's Regiment also helped build the Bailey Bridge? Love n miss you Dad. Thank you and all the other brave Black Watch heroes who gave and still, give their all, for the freedom of the People of Scotland, the United Kingdom and The Wider World. 🌌🌎🏴💜🙏
@@andypaterson1639 Why are you even here watching this video if you have such strong, negative feelings about the Black Watch. Anyone other than a moron would bypass this video feeling as you do.
From a Yank who sent to nephews to Iraq and a nephew to Afghanistan,I just want to give you lads a hearty welcome home from your American counterparts.
My dear grandfather, George Peckham, was a member of the Black Watch during the time of King George V. I am so proud, God rest his soul and God bless our soldiers!
If the Scots want to be independent then respect to you if you choose to do so. But mine is a selfish reason, I want you on our side and I absolutely love the sound of the pipes!
MrFlix76 not for nothing, so that democratic process may be enshrined in the memory of those who died fighting against fascism. That's why the sacrifice was made, so as to protect a way of live that empowers people and gives the right to those present and future to make the choices that govern their lives and the lives of their descendants. The referendum is just that, it honours the men of the Black Watch and all fighting men in the Scottish regiments, that their suffering was not for nothing. Al bagu Bra
Stunning reply. My Great Grandparents were Scots and perhaps that's why the pipes stir me.If you are better served by the new Government then all is well and good. In the end you will be be better for it methinks. Just join us in battle! (on our side!)
My great-grandfather was a Black Watch soldier in the First World War, an MM winner at that. Although a Burntislander it's great to see them marching through anywhere in Fife
Not one person, in the crowd, here on UA-cam or anywhere else has any real idea what these soldiers have seen, experienced or have to deal with for the rest of their lives. My Father was a Sergeant in the 1st Battalion, Black Watch, during World War II, his Brither, James was a Sergeant in the 5th Battalion Black Watch. He was wounded and captured at Caën and spent the rest of the war in German POW Camps. My Father escorted War Criminals to NÜRNBERG for trial. Just shortly before he died he saw quote "Aw the boys" waiting for him. Love, Peace and Light.
Nah, I am on youtube and of a family with a long military history...and in WW II, on both sides. I remusterd to the watch from Royal Horse to PPCLI to the Watch. You underestimate the crowd sir. Many, many families are familiar with the impact of war.
1st Batt. Black Watch? I thought the Black Watch was the 3rd battalion of the RHR of Scotland...hmm if im wrong, feel free to correct me, since nobody is perfect...😊
The Blackwatch are hard as fuck, one thing for certain is you should never fuck with the scotts! All you have to do is look back at history at how good in combat the British army are and just be proud that we have such an amazing military protecting our country! en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Thin_Red_Line_(Battle_of_Balaclava)
+wk2k11 - First Boer Freedom War: Britain fights 1 on 1 with numbers and gets slaughtered by the Boers. Second Boer Freedom War: Britain brings in half a million of troops to fight 83000 Boers. 5+ vs 1. Burns down around 30 000 farms and causes the death of 27 000 Boer woman and children like the savages and cowards they are. Wow what a victory, and then you call me a berk, what a fucktard you and your nation are indeed.
wk2k11 That was like Vietnam in America. The rich folks in SA. And the rich ones in UK..For control of the Gold and Diamonds. Countries that hold a gold supply have money that's worth more. Vietnam was for control of the Asian countries.and there resources..
my boyfriend was a member of this esteemed regiment in the late 90's and i am extremely proud of him and just thinking about him in uniform makes me frisky...
Regardless of old feelings...I'm glad we have such wonderful men as allies. I am an honorary member of the 52 Lowland Volunteers. (1978 training in Wales) God save the Queen!
Darn it I'm missing so much I wanna move to Europe to see this we never get this in America :C The closest we get to this is parades for American football games at our town's High School
That says a lot. Even here in Canada we have local regiments march through the downtown core on certain holidays. Essex and Kent Scottish Regiment marches downtown on Canada Day, Remembrance Day, and Victoria Day.
Just watched this vid,,,,It makes me proud to be Scottish....for centuries we have always been the backbone of the British army units....without us Britain would be fucked over many times...long live our Scottish army and tenacious principles :)
"watch is where the soldiers principally raised from Angus (Dundee) , Perth and Fife "watched" over the Highlands" Mind thise places are where the regiment was principally raised in later times but originally it was raised in the Highlands itself. Mostly from the clans Campbell, Grant, Fraser and Munro. A good history is given in The Independent Highland Companies by Peter simpson.
The Royal Regiment is'nt the Black Watch, it is an amalgamation of all the many different Scottish regiments, the Black Watch is just one of those regiments.

Until you hear bagpipes up close and personal, you've never understood the power of a musical instrument. It's quite something.
Quite possibly one of the best fighting forces on the planet.
from america -us infantry damn proud of all of you !
They killed Scottish people fighting for independence at the battle of Culloden, you ignorant moron.
@@andypaterson1639 Well they didn’t.,. The previous soldiers of the regiment going back a couple of hundred years did

In my opinion, there isn't a more powerful sight than a couple of hundred scots marching perfectly in unison!
Makes my Brit heart proud
Hob nail boots, Boys, where's the boots, mon.
Great stuff, Thank You.

I bet it is quite something. But, here, by my oppinion they should put one bagpiper for each platoon. And one drummer for each platoon.
