- I've been wanting to get back into Spiritbox for some time now. Their new album seems to be shaping up! I definitely think we need some more variety on the channel so here's to Spiritbox building a cohesive record this year!

Nice reaction! This is the closing track from their latest EP, The Fear of Fear, which has 6 tracks. The tracks tell a continuing story, lyrically (I won’t break it down!) and tend to lead into one another - it’s designed to be listened to in sequence, at least once. This one circles back to the first track (not literally, but you can hear a transition at the end which fits). That EP opening track is Cellar Door - I think you should react to that next, given your comments. You should find it interesting!
Ultraviolet has been well received by most - it is hauntingly beautiful and s definitely a grower for those who aren’t sure about it at first.
It’s the only one on the EP with a video directed by Dylan Hryciuk of Versa Films, their long-term friend and collaborator (every track on The Fear of Fear has a video, though track 5, the first one released, has a rather impressive visualiser video rather than a music video). Ultraviolet’s video is actually very technically impressive, as it was filmed in a single continuous take with varying frame rates, so all performers including Courtney had to learn to perform at various unusual speeds for the desired visual effects and it took 9 attempts to get the best version! (I hope I’ve remembered that detail correctly!).
Spiritbox are and have generally been a 4-piece band - when Courtney and Mike started it, they were soon joined by original bassist Bill Crook and were initially helped out on drums by Mikey Montgomery of Iwrestledabearonce (which Courtney and Mike had left to found Spiritbox). Thereafter, drummer Ryan Loerke was with them, not quite as a full band member, until he left on becoming a parent and very shortly after that, current drummer and full band member Zev Rose joined (he’s in your thumbnail). Whilst on a very long touring schedule, bassist Bill Crook decided to leave on amicable terms, and Josh Gilbert of As I Lay Dying stepped in as their touring bassist, soon joining Spiritbox as a full band member. Thy released a 3-track EP, Rotoscope, between the Eternal Blue album and The Fear of Fear. The title track (Rotoscope) is the only one on that with a music video, and that video only has Courtney, Mike and Zev in it, due to when it was made.
Ahhhh I do love me some conceptual albums. Unfortunately I've heard Cellar door already and I did enjoy it! I will definitely be waiting patiently for the next single to react to here! Thanks for being such a knowledgable fan and pulling up to the harbor to hang with us!
